This is a two owner very rare 1981 Plymouth Arrow Pickup with a Sunrader conversion.(Sunrader is most commonly known for doing RV conversions and full RVs). This truck was rescued from a barn in Northern California where it was stored for more than two decades. It was picked up from the original owners with the original "pink slip" and every registration from new. It comes with the original owners manual and an original repair manual.
As far as I can tell this may very well be the only one left of an unknown quantity of them converted ( I can't find any information on these anywhere). The truck is an original California car and was purchased from a dealership in Oakland Ca. and has spent its whole life in Northern California.
Some of the unique features of this truck are that the frame has been professionally stretched nearly 36" and is fully supported. This was done in order to accommodate the very large extended cab that was fitted to a stock cab that had the entire center section of the roof and back of the cab cut out. It also has been converted to a dually with the help of the rear wheels that are a one piece design that holds two tires on one wheel. The bed is fitted with fender extensions to house the double wheels.
Inside of the cab is fully covered in the original brown vinyl and the original tan carpet that has been faded a bit. The original front seats are also available if the buyer wants them ( they are not in good condition from sitting for so long with no attention and are a high back style captains seat). I replaced them with a set of tan Pontiac Fiero seats that need some fabric work. It still retains the original bench seat in the rear of the cab that also needs fabric work.Has matching vinyl door panels.
Has large windows in the sides of the fiberglass extension that has the lower portion that opens and closes up above is a lexan window that needs some attention. I have updated the am radio to a newer CD player with an amp under the back seat and two 10" Pioneer subs behind the rear seat. It sounds nice with 6.5" speakers in the doors. I have the original steering wheel but I have replaced it with a rare 12" Grant signature series wheel.
All lights work as they should with the exception of the rear cargo light (bulb?). The engine is bone stock with a new radiator and oil change and I believe it is still running the original cap rotor and wires. Runs like a champ. The transmission is a four speed and has a very good clutch but again its original as far as I know.
I took off the original tires that were date coded 4/6/80 and replaced them with new low profile tires (6 of them), the tires sport a full set of original port-a-wall white walls for looks. The truck has been lowered three inches all around with lowering blocks in the rear and cut springs up front.
Has a few scratches and a dent in the front right fender not bad though, the front bumper needs work as well as the front apron that can all be found on Ebay for cheap. The paint is original warm white and is faded from sitting with no attention.
This truck runs well and would drive anywhere.
I have these original parts for the truck that I will include, if the buyer wants them: Stock hubcaps (4), stock steering wheel, stock shift knob, stock conversion seats. I have also included a picture of it in stock dress.

Dodge launches 1 of 1 Viper configurator

Fri, Apr 17 2015

Get comfortable because you might be spending a good chunk of time in front of the computer on this. The configurator for the 2015 Dodge Viper GTC 1 of 1 is now online, and it's a ton of fun to play around with. Mechanically, the GTC is just like every current Viper with a 645-horsepower, 8.4-liter V10. But for the special editions Dodge lets buyers tinker with practically everything aesthetic thing. For the exterior alone, the choices include some 8,000 available body colors, two stripe styles in innumerable shades, two hood designs and various brake caliper hues. Plus, there are 16 upholstery colors inside, and options like red seat belts and carbon fiber trim. Dodge reckons there are over 25 million possible combinations, and the models are available to customers on a first-come-first serve basis for each model year. Although, two people wanting identical cars seems pretty unlikely. The configurator is a beauty too. It makes all of these myriad options extremely easy to pick from, and there are even four resolution settings to see your creation in the best possible way. Prices for the GTC start at $94,995 and deliveries are set to start in the second quarter of the year. Although, even if you have no intention of buying one, specifying these custom coupes is still highly entertaining.

2017 Dodge Durango GT Brass Monkey: A funky winter drive

Fri, Mar 24 2017

The 2017 Dodge Durango is one of our favorite sport utility vehicles. It has power and style and it stands out in a segment that is filled with vanilla-flavored people haulers. We recently had a Durango GT outfitted in Brass Monkey trim – highlighted by its 20-inch burnished bronze aluminum wheels - and took to the back roads of Michigan for an extended drive. The snow was flying. The temperatures dropped. It was muddy. The unpaved roads, pocked and rutted, were jarring, even though the forested setting was serene. The Durango had no trouble with any of it. Watch our video review for the complete experience.

Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
