THIS IS NOT A RUNNING TRUCK!  TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BUT THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REMOVED AND DISASSEMBLED AS THERE WAS A HOLE IN NUMBER FIVE PISTON.

I AM CLOSING UP SHOP AND GETTING RID OF ALL MY CHERISHED ITEMS.  NO LONGER PHYSICALLY ABLE TO FULFILL MY AMBITIONS.  I HAVE TO BE OUT OF MY SHOP BY MARCH 1ST SO I CANNOT STORE VEHICLES.   LANDLORD WILL PROBABLY ALLOW SOME TIME BUT NOT LONG. SO, YOU MUST PICK UP VEHICLE SOON.
DO NOT BID ON THIS TRUCK UNLESS YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUYER AND HAVE THE CAPABILITIES TO ACCEPT THIS RESPONSIBILTY.

This is a 1984 one ton four wheel drive crew cab Dodge short bed pickup.  I have owned this pickup for several years.  It came with a 360 cubic inch engine with a 100 amp alternator, transmission cooler and oil cooler, tilt steering column, automatic transmission, and cruise control.  I think just about every available option at the time.  It has a custom front seat with high back buckets and a center jump seat or fold down console.  I pulled the engine out of this truck in 2007 because it started smoking very badly.  When I disassemled it I found that there was a hole in number five piston.  It did not score the cylinder or harm the engine in anyway.  In fact, the engine ran very well until I disassembled it, except for smoking.  While I drove this pickup for a very short time, I purchased a brand new radiator for it, as well as a new steering box and custom steering shaft, new power booster, master  brake cylinder, windshield wiper moter and I think a new alternator.  All of the aforementioned items are included in this sale.  The transmission has a shift kit in it and the torque converter is rebuilt and worked very very good when I disassembled everything.  I had planned to find a Cummins diesel engine and manual transmission to put in this truck and have the brake and clutch assembly to include in this sale.  NOT THE DIESEL ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION.  I have the engine (ready for rebuilding, needing one piston) and all the accessories needed to make this a running vehicle.  When I purchased this pickup it had a six inch lift on it, but did not track well, so I replaced it with a three inch lift kit.  It has all new shocks and dual shock steering stabilizer and ribbed aluminum extra capacity differential covers front and rear.  It has a heavy duty Dana 60 rear end and Dana 60 front axle with manual locking hubs and part time transmission. There is a crease down the passenger side of the truck extending from halfway from the front door through back passenger door and into the bed.  THIS SALE INCLUDES TWO EXTRA FRONT FENDERS (LEFT AND RIGHT), TWO EXTRA FRONT DOORS (LEFT AND RIGHT) AN EXTRA CORE SUPPORT, AN EXTRA PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR, FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND COWL COVER.  EVERYTHING TO MAKE THIS A COMPLETE RUNNING UNIT IS INCLUDED. With the power train combination this truck was set up with, I was able to get 12 miles per gallon average fuel economy.  I know this doesn't soune like much in this day and age, but if you know Dodge 360 engines, you know that is astounding mileage for a 360 four barrel in a one ton four wheel drive!

CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING AS THERE IS NO REFUND ON THIS SALE.  PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME ASKING " HOW MUCH TO SHIP TO SUCH AND SUCH"  SHIPPING FEES ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND IT'S UP TO YOU TO FIND THE BEST DEAL YOU CAN.  THE ZIP CODE WHERE THE VEHICLE IS LOCATED IS 95626 WHICH IS ABOUT FIFTEEN TO TWENTY MILES NORTH OF SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA.  I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO TRY AND DESCRIBE THIS VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITIES BUT I MAY HAVE LEFT SOMETHING OUT.  BE SURE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET ANSWERS FOR YOU.

Zombie cars: 9 discontinued vehicles that aren't dead yet

Thu, Jan 6 2022

Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn't just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process. That's the case with the 12 cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up "new" sales with them. There are actually more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we decided to include here. We kept this list to the oldest or otherwise most interesting vehicles still being sold as new, including a supercar. We'll run the list in alphabetical order, starting with *drumroll* ... BMW 6 Series: 55 total sales BMW quietly removed the 6 Series from the U.S. market during the 2019 model year. It had been available in three configurations, a hardtop coupe, a convertible and a sleek four-door coupe-like shape.   BMW i8: 18 total sales We've always had a soft spot for the BMW i8, despite the fact that it never quite fit into a particular category. It was sporty, but nowhere near as fast as similarly-priced competitors. It looked very high-tech and boasted a unique carbon fiber chassis design and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but wasn't really designed for maximum efficiency or maximum performance. Still, the in-betweener was very cool to look at and drive, and 18 buyers took one home over the course of 2021.   Chevy Impala: 750 total sales The Impala represented classic American tastes at a time when American tastes were shifting away from soft-riding sedans with big interior room and trunk space and into higher-riding crossovers. A total of 750 sales were inked last year.   Chrysler 200: 15 total sales The Chrysler 200 was actually a pretty nice sedan, with good looks and decent driving dynamics let down by a lack of roominess, particularly in the back seat. Of course, as we said regarding the Chevy Impala, the number of Americans in the market for sedans is rapidly winding down, and other automakers are following Chrysler's footsteps in canceling their slow-selling four-doors. Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. And for some reason, 15 buyers decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home last year.

This or That: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 vs. 2005 Subaru WRX STI [w/poll]

Thu, May 7 2015

Some cars, due to ultimate desirability, particular rareness, or spectacular performance/prestige eventually become collectible. It's darn near impossible to know which ones will make it into the rarefied stratosphere of collectibility – why is a late 1960s AMC AMX so affordable these days, whereas prices for late '70s Pontiac Trans Ams are soaring? – but there are some useful indicators to keep tabs on. We're not exactly experts on investing, but we do know cars. As such, we've decided to take our non-expertise on one hand, combine it in the other with our knowledge of all things automotive, wad it up, throw it out and ask for your forgiveness. Or something like that. I've challenged Senior Editor Seyth Miersma to choose a car he thinks will become a future collector's item that's not more than 10 years old, and for no more than $25,000. I've done the same, and we vigorously argued for and against each other's picks. I feel good about my choice, but I don't have the best track record in these contests (I've lost three times, won twice, but they've all been pretty close), so, while I'm not going to beg (please vote for me!), I do hope you find my argument convincing. But first, let's hear from Seyth: Miersma: Ten-years old or newer makes this challenging. At that age most vehicles feel like a plain old used car to me, few hit the "classic" button. But the Subaru WRX STI has always been a special car, and the 2005 cutoff year proves to be very attractive for the parameters of our contest. It's rare; with fewer than 5,000 STI models sold that model year. It's probably the best looking WRX STI ever sold in America; narrowly avoiding the dreadful "horse collar" front fascia. And it's got one of the more die-hard car-geek followings out there. For $25,000, you can also still find examples that have reasonable miles, are in good condition, and haven't all been molested by grown-up Initial D wannabes. With the street racers hacking up collectable examples every day, I like my odds for steep appreciation by way of conservation. I couldn't agree more. It really is difficult to predict what cars will catch the eye of collectors, and the WRX STI seems like a pretty good choice. But I think mine is even better, and I can't let him know that I'd love to park just such an STI in my very own garage. And so goes my argument: Korzeniewski: I like your choice as a driver, Seyth. I'm less convinced of its status as a sure-fire collectible.
