The body was completely stripped to the bare metal and refinished in single stage enamel.  Most of these trucks had a 3 piece back window, yet, this model was quite rare having a one piece back window.  Complete new window rubbers, new weather strip kit, factory heater was also refinished and is in working condition.  The original wood bed was in need of replacing Red oak was milled off Walton Mt. and all new stainless hardware was used to secure the stainless slats to the bed.  Several coats of polyurethane was applied to seal the oak bed.  Red oxide primer was used on the cab, doors and fenders and floor before the truck got painted.  The original gas tank was removed from behind the seat and reconditioned.  Every nut, bolt and screw was replaced or refurbished.  The finished product is a 1955 Dodge, Canyon Coral/Antique White, two tone paint.  Black painted steel orig. style bumpers, orig. blk. steel running boards, color keyed antique white center grille, restored chrome, Dodge V8 center hood emblem, dual opening hood, cowl vent, single side view mirror, orig. steel style wheels with orig. center caps, side mounted tire.  Orig. door handles, orig. tail gate with tail gate chains, orig. style reproduction turn signal lamps with complete new wiring from front to back.  The interior coach work is fully restored in Dove Gray.  New door panels, seat covers, new seat foam and burlap new headliner with dome light.  Restored orig. steering wheel with Aruuuga horn, functional turn signals, beautifully restored dash and instrument cluster, no radio, optional heater, no sun visors, new re chromed rear view mirror.  The interior door hardware is original and is in excellent condition.    Drive and enjoy!  You won't be sorry buying such a piece of history.   This rare example is an excellent driver quality restored truck with the 241 V8 cam engine.  Priced below market value. In the interest of disclosure I have included photos of the the "repaired" original running boards and the bottom of the tailgate that did not get the same attention to detail as the rest of the loving restoration. this truck draws more cameras, thumbs up and overall attention then most high dollar muscle cars.    Offered by CARROLL ST AUTO AND COLLECTIBLES  has 20 years experience selling quality hand selected Classics to highly satisfied cusomers,  please call 603 627 5595 or my cell  603 361 3693 with any questions,   We encourage you to come view the truck in Manchester NH we are 15 min form MHT airport and would be happy to pick you up. We encourage all SERIOUS offers and will consider trades ( no projects please)   This truck is available for sale in our showroom daily for $16,900 however the reserve is reduced substantially    We reseve the right to end the auction early

SpeedKore carbon-fiber 1970 Dodge Charger packs a 996-hp Demon engine

Tue, Oct 30 2018

SpeedKore Performance does some pretty neat things with carbon fiber. SEMA is always the place to show off new and interesting builds, and SpeedKore has a few new offerings on display. We talked about the lightweight carbon fiber 2018 Dodge Demon late last week, but now that SEMA 2018 is in full swing, we've got a look at something even cooler, an all-carbon, Demon-powered 1970 Dodge Charger "Evolution." SpeedKore Performance is based in Wisconsin and has been churning out SEMA showstoppers for years. In addition to the Demon, take a look at this Shelby GT350R the shop modified a few years back. The Charger Evolution is named so because it further modifies the SpeedKore Charger "Tantrum" that was used in the " Fast and Furious" films. That car used a carbon composite body and was fitted with a 9.0-liter Mercury Racing twin-turbo engine making an absurd 1,650 horsepower. The Evolution might be down on power — only 996 horses thanks to a modified Demon crate engine — but the goal was to create something a little more usable than the Tantrum. Upgrades include a smaller supercharger pulley, larger fuel injectors, a custom cold-air intake, stainless steel headers and a custom exhaust with SLP mufflers. There's also a Dailey Engineering dry sump, upgraded oil cooler, and Saldana radiator. It's also lighter, thanks to even more carbon fiber. SpeedKore had a goal to get the '70 Charger to about 3,200 pounds. To get there, the Evolution employs carbon-fiber bodywork, an aluminum floor, a steel roll cage and a new 2x3-inch steel box frame. SpeedKore's autoclave is large enough to bake a one-piece roof, hood and quarter panels. The bare bodywork has been finished with a clear coat to help prevent fading. The Evolution uses billet aluminum for the door handles, fuel cap and grille, all finished in a bronze-nickel coating to pair with the HRE wheels. In addition to the floor, aluminum was used for the firewall, transmission tunnel and radiator shroud. To slow the Charger down, it uses Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers in the rear. The suspension uses Penske adjustable coilovers while Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires wrap 19x10-inch front wheels and 20x12-inch rear wheels. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.

Dodge Grand Caravan reportedly will cease production in 2020

Wed, Jul 24 2019

The Dodge Grand Caravan looks like it may finally be reaching its demise next year. A report from Automotive News Canada says the old Dodge minivan will cease production in May 2020. The report cites AutoForecast Solutions as the source of its news. FCA confirmed to us that the van will be going away eventually, but the company is not ready to put an official end date on it yet. For the time being, it looks like the Grand Caravan’s long run will eventually grind to a halt in Windsor, Ontario, the vanÂ’s only production site. With the introduction of the Chrysler Voyager as the budget minivan option from Chrysler, FCA may think it no longer has any use for the outdated Dodge. The Grand Caravan has a starting price of $28,535, whereas the new Voyager is priced from $28,480. ThatÂ’s an almost identical starting point, but we still donÂ’t know what kind of incentives FCA will offer for the Voyager. There are typically big cuts for the Grand Caravan, which have pushed recent average transaction prices down to $24,972. We imagine itÂ’ll be much more difficult for FCA to offer discounts of that magnitude to Voyager shoppers. Still, AutoForecast Solutions told Automotive News it believes FCA will transition folks away from the Grand Caravan. “For the 2020 model year, theyÂ’ll likely run to fleet and then get the consumers to buy the new Voyager,” says Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions. Eliminating the Grand Caravan would be a strong bet on ChryslerÂ’s strategy of splitting the Pacifica into two different model lines. Nearly every month, FCA sells more Grand Caravans than Pacificas. The Pacifica is the far superior minivan to own, but you canÂ’t argue with a cheap price. Once the Grand Caravan is gone, budget minivan buyers will have no choice but to buy a Voyager if they want the cheapest new option out there. Entries from the few other manufacturers that produce minivans are all going to be more expensive than the Voyager. The 2020 Pacifica and Voyager team are slated to reach dealers later this year, but it wonÂ’t be until next year that weÂ’re able to fully take stock of how this plays out for FCA.
