1951 Dodge "Job Rated" 1/2 Ton Pickup barn find

Plenty of Chevys and Fords but the Dodges are hard to find.

Make an awesome fenderless Rat Rod on a Dodge Dakota or S-10 frame maybe.

Flat head 6 with 3 speed manual. Engine seems complete with oil bath air cleaner and oil filter. The original honeycomb radiator and the heater show no signs of leaks, antifreeze is clean. Engine oil is clean.

Are  you tired of working on a project that is rusted beyond repair then this is the truck for you. Southern vehicle, no salt damage!
The floors have some rust but could be patched and not totally replaced, the door bottoms have very little rust.

The cab corners are solid. The hinges don't sag.
The previous owner says the truck has been in a carport for several years and from the lack of serious rust it must have been protected from the elements most of it's life.
The truck has lots of dents that make it a perfect candidate for the Rat Rod treatment.
Has plywood as bed floor.

The original front suspension seems to be all intact and the manual steering box and steering seem tight.

I was told by the previous owner that he was driving it up to 2 yrs ago.
I didn't try to get the motor running but I did spin it over with a battery.
It has a new fuel pump and some brake work (some new steel lines, rubber hoses and appears master cylinder was rebuilt or new) by the previous owner. Brake pedal currently goes to the floor. The emergency brake works.

Original seat has good support and the original covers can be seen under a loose seam on the aftermarket seat covers. The original door panel cardboard is still in place and could probably be used as a pattern.

The front windshields and corner curved glass are not cracked. The side windows are all cracked.
All side glass mechanisms work. Doors open and close and latch.
Original instruments, condition unknown, are included.  Not sure but I think it has been converted to 12 volts.

There are four original 16" wheels (2 on the truck rear now), also have four 15" Mopar wheels to go with the truck.
Standard Mopar 5 on 4/12" bolt pattern. All the tires are only good enough to load the car on a trailer.

Spare tire holder has one of the original 16" wheels.

I had planned a 350 with automatic overdrive, TCI front and rear suspension, power steering, Vintage Air, cruise and tilt.

Please contact Steve at 205-422-896seven with questions.
My sale policy is simple, a $200 deposit is required within 24 hours.
If you don't want the car when you come to pick it up you only forfeit the small deposit to cover my advertising expense.
Many more pics are available if desired.
Listed locally for $995, I reserve the right to cancel all bids if the truck sells locally first.

The State of Alabama does not issue titles for vehicles of this age. A bill of sale and tag receipt will be furnished.

Fort Worth Police investigating officer for using pepper spray on bikers

Tue, Mar 15 2016

A Fort Worth Police officer was placed on administrative duties after video surfaced showing him allegedly spraying pepper spray at a group of passing motorcyclists during a traffic stop over the weekend. An officer with the FWPD pulled over one of the group's chase vehicles, a red Dodge Ram, that was escorting riders in case of a crash or mechanical troubles. The video, shot from one of the motorcyclists' helmet cams, caught the FWPD officer exiting his vehicle and, before approaching the truck, spraying something into traffic at the group of riders. WFAA News 8 spoke with the men responsible for the video, Jack Kinney and Chase Stone, via Skype from Longview, TX, on March 13. "It's the last thing I would expect to see," Kinney told the station. "His intent was to hit the bikers for sure, there's no doubt about it," said Stone. "His intent was to send somebody down, if not to cause a major accident with that spray". As the video went viral, receiving more than 200,000 views in 15 hours, people shared videos showing the group of motorcyclists riding in an irresponsible manner through traffic right before the alleged pepper spray incident. Fort Worth Police say they received numerous calls about the pack of riders from motorists on surrounding highways, with complaints ranging from weaving in and out of lanes to popping wheelies through traffic at high speed. News 8 asked Kinney and Stone if it was possible that the officer felt threatened. "If you're worried about safety, why would you pepper spray a large group of bikers like that?" asked Kinney. The Dallas Morning News identified the officer as W. Figueroa. Worth Police released an official statement about the incident late on the afternoon of March 13. They stated that the officer in question, a six-year FWPD veteran, had been relieved of his patrol duties and placed on desk duty pending the investigation. FWPD Corporal Tracey Knight also made a statement indicating that pepper-spraying drivers in oncoming traffic is not a department-sanctioned tactic. Chrysler Recalling Nearly 907,000 Cars, SUVs

Fri, Oct 17 2014

Nearly 907,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep SUVs and cars are being recalled for alternators that can fail and heated power mirror wiring that can short and cause minor fires. The recalls, posted Thursday by U.S. safety regulators, push the total number of recalls so far this year 544, totaling a record of more than 52 million vehicles. The largest of Thursday's recalls covers nearly 470,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees, Chrysler 300s, and Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Durangos from the 2011 through 2014 model years. The alternators can fail, causing the 3.6-liter V6 engines to stall unexpectedly. The problem also can cause the electrical system to fail, as well as knock out power-assisted steering, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. It can even cause fire or smoke, according to documents Chrysler filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA opened an investigation into the problem in July, and Chrysler began its own probe in August. The company analyzed warranty complaints and alternators that had failed. The alternator generates electricity to recharge the battery and run other devices. Chrysler investigators traced the problem to heat fatigue in an alternator diode. Chrysler said it received 322 complaints about the problem, while 55 people complained to NHTSA. The company said it knows of one crash related to the problem, but no injuries or fires. The company will replace the alternators with upgraded versions for free. Owners will be notified in November. The company says customers who see warning lights or suspect a problem should contact their dealers. The recall affects cars and SUVs sold mainly in the U.S. and Canada, but some were sold in Mexico and overseas markets. The second recall covers almost 437,000 Jeep Wranglers from 2011 through 2013. Water can find its way into the heated power mirror wiring harness and cause corrosion. That can cause a short and could cause a minor fire and smoke, as well as cause loss of function of the mirror. The problem was discovered in February after three Wranglers in Canada were damaged. Chrysler says it has 26 complaints about the problem, but it knows of no fires, crashes or injuries. Dealers will move the wiring and install a protective shield to keep water out at no cost to owners, starting in December. Most of the Wranglers are in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, but more than 78,000 were sold overseas.

Dodge Challenger Shakedown: '71 body, new guts

Tue, Nov 1 2016

While Jeep has created a number of vintage-bodied custom vehicles with modern components, this year's SEMA show plays host to Dodge's take on the idea. The Shakedown concept began life as a 1971 Challenger and ditched almost everything in it, including the engine and chassis. What's left is a modern car with a retro look. The chassis was a particularly complicated part of the job, since the Challenger was originally a unibody car. However, Dodge chose to separate the Challenger's iconic body from its structural parts, and moved it onto a custom, one-off chassis from which the body can be removed as needed. The chassis also carries lowered suspension, Challenger Hellcat brakes, and a 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V8 connected to a six-speed manual transmission from the Viper. Dodge also installed the engine using the new Hemi engine swap kit from Mopar. With the shaker cold-air intake and custom exhaust, the Shakedown's powerplant makes 485 horsepower. View 13 Photos The body itself received plenty of tweaking as well. Dodge shaved off the drip rails, door handles, and turn signals for a cleaner look, and also fitted the grille, headlights, and taillights from a 2017 Challenger. The whole thing is finished in matte black paint with a "vibrating" stripe offset on the left side. The Shakedown also gets 20-inch Slingshot rear wheels and a pair of custom 19-inch versions for the front. On each fender is a bright red "392" decal that uses the same font as the labels on classic Mopars 360 cubic-inch V8s. Inside, the Shakedown gets the same radical upgrade as the chassis. Two Viper seats accompany a Viper steering wheel, and the rear seats are gone altogether. The Viper gearbox is shifted with a Challenger Hellcat gear knob, and carbon-fiber accents and leather adorn the wheel, door panels, instrument panel and center console.
