This is my car, I ordered it new in late 2003 and excitedly waited for it to be delivered. I have enjoyed this car for 10 years.

The car has not been used in Winter and has been my trouble-free daily transportation from about late march to early December. It’s been stored in my attached garage when not in use. Most miles are from my commute to work which is about 32 freeway miles per day.

The car is completely stock except for the following.

  • I have replaced the stock wheels with lighter and wider Borbet type s 17x8 wheels with 225/45-17 tires. The wheels have only minor nicks and are in excellent clean condition.
  • Mopar Performance reusable air filter, stock filter also included.
  • Mopar blow-off valve.
  • Front Brake Discs replaced aftermarket high performance rotors. I think they are StopTech brand.
  • All brake Pads replaced with Hawk HPS Street brake pads. I just checked all the pads and they have thousands of miles remaining on them.

Oil has been changed regularly using only OEM Mopar filters and Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil.

Shortly after purchase I removed the wing and put some small plastic plugs in the trunk holes. The wing is pictured and has beed packaged and stored in my attic. I can reinstall if buyer prefers.

The engine is clean and maintained, but shows some use. I have only needed to change the oil at regular intervals and clean the reusable air filter. At one point there was a vacuum leak which caused boost to spike, but a quick visit to the dealer found/fixed the issue. No other repairs have been needed.

I just completed replacement of both rear Strut Mounts using OEM parts from my local Dodge dealer. There was a noise from the rear passenger side of the car, when I removed the strut the issue was obvious, so I just replaced both of them.

The body is in excellent condition, No rust or accident repairs. It does have some minimal imperfections which I tried to show in the photographs of the car. I always parked carefully to eliminate door dings, as you can see the sides of the car are very straight.

The Interior is clean and well cared for. The driver seat is somewhat worn, just as you see in nearly every SRT-4 the side bolsters of the seat are worn through the vinyl from daily use. Velcro that was on the back of a child seat has rubbed the fabric on the rear passenger head rest area and roughed it up some.

The car is in need of new tires, currently there are 225/45-17 Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 tires on the car, Tire Rack has these in stock for $384 a set (+shipping and installation). I have been happy with these tires and would use the same tires again. If buyer would like to have tires installed prior to purchase I could have the tires installed prior to vehicle pickup for the actual cost of tires plus installation. If you are interested in this option be sure to contact me prior to auction end to discuss details.

If there are any questions, or you would like to get high resolution photos, view the car in person, or get a video of it running please let me know.

The last time Dodge recycled the Demon name, it was for a Miata fighter

Fri, Jan 20 2017

We and the rest of the automotive world are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Dodge Challenger Demon. And why wouldn't we be? It's going to be a Hellcat, but with less weight, bigger fenders, more performance, and more Vin Diesel. This isn't the first time we've been excited about a Demon from Dodge, though. Ten years ago, Dodge had another demonic car, but it was very different from the new one. The Demon of 2007 was a lithe little roadster that looked primed and ready to take on the Miata, as well as the now-departed Solstice and Sky twins. The Demon was just under an inch shorter than the MX-5 and the Solstice, and it packed a 172 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder that fell right between the Miata's 170 and the Solstice's 177 outputs. Dodge's estimated the curb weight, which for a concept is largely theoretical, also slotted between the two cars at 2600 pounds. That was about 150 more than the Mazda, and about 200 less than the Pontiac. The pitch perfect specifications were presented in a crisp two-seat roadster wrapper. In many ways, it looked like a baby Viper, with a menacing crosshair grille, slanted headlights, and fat rear fenders. The Demon's line's were brutally simple and geometric, too. They didn't seem far removed from the first-generation Audi TT. The interior was also plain and simple. The key highlights were a horizontal aluminum accent that ran the width of the dash, echoed by an aluminum-covered center console. The instrument cluster was uncluttered, with just four gauges, and the only controls were some climate knobs, a double-DIN head unit, and a six-speed manual. It turns out that the 2007 Demon didn't drive very well, though. You see, we actually drove this concept back in the day, and like many concepts, it still had a long way to go to be production ready. The gearbox would grind, the ride quality was terrible. However, the interior was roomy, and the engine sounded suitably grumbly, if a bit coarse. At the time, we said Dodge should absolutely build the little roadster. In retrospect, the company probably made the right decision not to invest in the Demon. The small rear drive sports car segment was, and still is, an extremely niche market. It would have been a big investment for little return, something FCA today is trying to avoid. This is all before taking into account the fact that the recession was just around the corner. In the end, we can't be too sad though.

1942 Dodge Carryall from WWII featured on 'Jay Leno's Garage'

Thu, Dec 28 2017

On this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, Leno takes a look at a unique Dodge Carryall, both in its past and present states. The Carryall is a 1942 model restored and modified by Winslow Bent at Legacy Classic Trucks in Wyoming. According to Bent, the truck spent time in Tunisia during World War II. Obviously it's no longer a military vehicle, but Bent explains that he and his crew built the truck to still be extremely durable, since its new owner wanted a support vehicle for classic car rallies around the world and in remote locations. To reach this end, the Carryall's original inline-six has been replaced with an intercooled Cummins 4BT turbocharged diesel four-cylinder. Bent modified the engine to make less power than it could in order to make the engine understressed and longer lasting. In total, it makes only 130 horsepower, but 380 pound-feet of torque. It also features a boxed frame and heavy duty axles. It's plenty practical, too, with a large roof rack, winch, and even an on-board welding setup. But it's not all hardcore upgrades, since it also has air conditioning. Check out all the other cool details and listen to Leno and Bent geek out over leaf springs and intakes in the video above. Dodge Dart Mopar '13 special edition recalled over airbag woes

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Dodge is only building 500 examples of the black-and-blue Mopar '13 Dart, but the majority of them are now being recalled. Part of the Mopar upgrade included replacing the stock seat skins in the Dart with black and blue Katzkin leather, but the seat-mounted side airbags were reinstalled improperly during the upfitting process, which could affect the performance of the front seat side airbags.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, a total of 374 Mopar '13 cars are being recalled due to side airbags that might not deploy in a side-impact collision. There have been no reports of the airbags not going off, but Chrysler will still need to reinstall the bags to ensure proper deployment. The recall notice is posted below, which gives information for Mopar '13 owners to contact Chrysler and NHTSA.
