SELLER REMARKS |

The Big Three all rolled out compacts in the early '60s, and Dodge's Dart GT was the standard bearer for the Mopar crowd. With a 273 cubic inch V8 that loves to rev, lightweight bodywork, and a capable suspension, this 1965 Dart GT is affordable fast fun that's also a little out of the ordinary.
The neat little Dart got all the same cool styling tricks that its big brothers received and looks like nothing else on the road, then or now. Obviously inspired by the jet age, the look is instantly identifiable as Mopar and it's obvious that they didn't skimp on design even though the Dart was built to be affordable. Code 8 Yellow is this car's original color and they did a pretty good job of matching the original hue when they repainted it a few years ago. Nice bodywork shows rather well with the light color, and the many interesting features that highlight the Dart are shown in crisp detail. Thanks to two-stage urethane paint, the shine is impressive and makes the car look a lot more expensive than it is. There's also plenty of chrome, which helps hide its economy car origins, including the ports just behind the front wheel, the stainless trim that highlights those "mini fins" atop the rear quarters, and a pair of bumpers that look great. The black vinyl half roof adds some contrast and is also in excellent condition.
As a real GT, bucket seats and a console are welcome upgrades. Very cool seat upholstery highlights a functional and attractive interior, and thanks to a fairly comprehensive facelift a few years ago, it remains in very good shape. Simple door panels are highlighted by bright trim that works well with the highly detailed instrument panel which has the look of a high-end clock from the '60s. A big round speedometer anchors the dashboard, with square auxiliary gauges just to the right and a tachometer discreetly tucked into the dash between the radio and ignition switch. The center console manages the shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission and the original AM radio, complete with matching white faced dial, is still in the middle of the dash. Despite the "compact" categorization, there's a big trunk out back which is ideal for cruises and long-distance trips and includes a fitted mat as original.
The 273 cubic inch V8 is the car's original powerplant and makes all the right sounds when you turn the key. Don't let its size fool you, because taking weight out is the same as putting horsepower in, so this Dart is entertaining on the street. It's detailed with bright red engine enamel, a set of finned valve covers, and the original air cleaner up top. The engine's been warmed over a bit with a cam inside that gives it a somewhat racy idle, plus an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold to help it breathe a little better. Twin Flowmaster mufflers give it a burly tone that's in character with the GT's mission and there are plenty of recent service items on the chassis. Factory Rallye wheels fit the car just right and carry 215/70/14 white-letter radials that make it look sporty.
Surprisingly fast and very affordable, this entry-level muscle car offers a lot of fun with a rarity that'll get everyone talking. Call today!

A small number of units of the 2013 Chrysler 200 (inset) and 2013 Dodge Avenger are being recalled over a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. The potential 1,785 sedans were manufactured late last year, and if affected with a broken control valve could suffer from stalling or fuel leakage.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that the recall should begin next month, at which time owners can take their cars to dealers for repair free of charge. The full release with more information is just below.

Chrysler is busy shuffling executives around in the wake of Ram head Fred Diaz's departure. The automaker has named Reid Bigland (pictured, right) as Diaz's successor in the role of president and CEO of Ram, though Bigland will continue his duties as the head of US sales and the president and CEO of Chrysler Canada. Bigland first came to Chrysler in 2006 from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, so the guy knows a thing or two about trucks.
Meanwhile, Timothy Kuniskis will take over as president and CEO of Dodge. Previously, he served as the head of Fiat in North America and has been with Chrysler in one capacity or another since 1992. His old title now falls to Jason Stoicevich, who will also continue to work as the director of the automaker's California Business Center. Finally, Bruno Cattori will take over as the president and CEO of Chrysler Mexico.
Diaz left his position to take over as a divisional vice president of sales and marketing with Nissan. You can read the full press release on the Chrysler personnel changes below for more information.

Terrorists have taken to using a weapon that's easy to obtain and can do a lot of damage: ordinary vehicles, driven into crowds. A Department of Homeland Security-FBI bulletin from 2012 warned that "vehicle-ramming offers terrorists with limited access to explosives or weapons an opportunity to conduct a homeland attack with minimal prior training or experience." CNN recently listed nine vehicle-based terrorist attacks that have occurred within the past year, and in just in the past three months incidents in New York, Edmonton and Barcelona have claimed more than 20 lives and injured dozens after ISIS-affiliated drivers plowed into pedestrians. The deadliest so far was a Bastille Day attack in Nice, France that killed 86 people after a terrorist drove a truck into a crowd following a fireworks display. CNN also reported that "Al Qaeda's Yemeni branch encouraged its recruits in the West to use trucks as weapons," and noted that a 2010 article in the terrorist group's webzine called for deploying a truck as a "mowing machine, not to mow grass but mow down the enemies of Allah." Such attacks have been more common in Europe and other places where guns are harder to get, making vehicles violent and readily available weapons. But it's not only ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorists that have turned cars into weapons. A man with white nationalist ties drove a Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counter-protesters at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va., in August, killing a 32-year-old woman and injuring dozens more. Some believe that autonomous vehicle technology could help stop these tragedies. "Terrorist attacks like the one in New York are a good example of why we need AVs more quickly," Caleb Watney, technology policy associate at the R Street Institute, a D.C.-based think tank, recently told the website Inverse. Dr. Junfeng Jiao, director of the Urban Information Lab at the University of Texas, told Inverse that "these tragedies may be taken into account by the makers such as Tesla and Google" when developing autonomous technology. "This is a huge opportunity for the next generation to de-weaponize cars," he added. Many vehicles already have forward collision warning with emergency autonomous braking, and a few combine it with pedestrian detection, although the latter technology typically works at speeds below 20 mph.
