Dodge Demon's deliverer? FCA files for 'Angel' trademark
Thu, Aug 3 2017We've driven the Dodge Demon, and despite its satanic overtones and 840 freakin' horsepower under the hood, the car is actually quite well-behaved. At least it didn't bite our head off or drag us into any sort of inferno. Still, Dodge might be looking to balance its lineup with something with a bit more righteous, as FCA has filed for a trademark of the moniker "Angel."... According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, FCA filed the application on July 17, 2017, and it applies to "Motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, their structural parts, trim and badges." Essentially, that's all the information we have to go on at this point. It could mean that Dodge is planning to further capitalize on the Demon name by creating another variant, or a completely different car. But what's the opposite of the Demon? Could it be a more road-friendly version of the drag-focused Demon? (And wouldn't that just be a Hellcat Widebody with more power?) Maybe it's a performance hybrid, as FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne recently said that the automaker would electrify half its fleet by 2022. For now, we can merely speculate as to what the Angel would be. Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet
Wed, Oct 7 2015Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
Will the Dodge Demon do a 10-second quarter-mile?
Fri, Apr 7 2017The final teaser for the Dodge Demon is finally here, and it might just give us a clue as to how quick the new car really is. A brief glimpse at a time slip shows what might be a 10-second quarter-mile time. That's a significant step up from the standard Hellcat's 11.7 seconds, but considering all of the Demon's modifications, it's not an unreasonable time. The new video, "Judgment Day," shows the new Demon in its natural habitat, a quarter-mile drag strip. There isn't much new information, aside from the brief glimpse at a time slip. There is a good shot of the car in action and some nice audio from what we assume is a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi. For comparison, the new 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro is capable of a 10.7-second quarter-mile run, while the 2016 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet dips all the way down into the 8s.
