1976 was the final production year for this classic American car, and it also was the lowest production year for generation 4 Darts (only 8,937 Dodge Dart Swingers were produced in '76) in North America. While this particular car has its imperfections, it is very solid and fun to drive. We simply do not have room for 4 cars, so it's time has come for our family to part with it.

Why bid on a Dart without getting the full story? I want you to know what to expect 100% with this Mopar classic.

This car runs good and is a reliable starter. It was bought for my wife to use as a daily driver for her work commute, and from the driver side it looks great! :)

Ok, it has some body damage on the passenger side from an accident that happened before we bought the car. The exterior is has signs of wear and I'm assuming it's the original paint job. There are little dings, scratches and other signs of use over the life of the car. The chrome is in ok shape, with very little pitting. The vinyl top is in excellent condition and was replaced by the previous owner, it really looks sharp. The aluminum trim is all there, is also in good shape, and there isn't any rusting where it meets the sheet metal. There are no exterior signs of rust. The rubber trim that runs along the side of the body has been removed, and it shows in the finish. Besides the aging paint and accident damage, the car actually looks really good.

Mechanically, the car is sound and drives smooth like a 318 with a torqueflite should. The engine and transmission are stock. All 4 tires are practically new. To be expected, there is play in the steering and a leak in the power steering should be noted. The battery is new. Alternator is recent. Brakes about 15,000 miles ago. Recent catalytic converters. The dual exhaust sounds good, not loud. Replaced rear shocks. Cooling system in good shape. Original a/c is present, disconnected and working condition is unknown. Car has original jack and a spare in the trunk. The speedometer or cable either needs attention, as it gets a little squeaky and goofy in the 65mph range. Turn signals, lights, horns and wipers work, but washer fluid pump does not.  The doors and locks are all solid. The glass is in good shape all around. Weatherstripping is mostly all there and varies from good, to delicate to missing in one spot. All the windows except the rear passenger side function properly, it slips and needs help when rolling up. The car is equipped with a secret kill switch/relay to the battery. It just passed CA smog.

The interior is in decent shape and it feels good to sit inside. The seats are in beautiful condition and have a couple of very small, easy to repair punctures. The vinyl on the dash has no cracks, is in good shape, as are the door panels, which are very clean. The carpet was replaced by the previous owner, but could do with a cleaning in the front. It would look good with a little shampoo. There's a radio with cassette player that is as good as not having one. The driver's seatbelt needs repair/replacement. A couple knobs inside need replacement. The headliner has cracks and chips. There is some corrosion in the trunk, under the rubber matt on the pan. The rest of the trunk looks great.

This listing is for car with a salvage title that we bought in 2008. I wish I could tell you why the car was given a salvage title, but best guess is a passenger side collision. It seems probable the cost of the body damage repair was estimated at more than the cost of the vehicle, so it was considered totaled. **However, I do not know for sure.** I do know it has never given any reason to think otherwise. The frame is straight and the damage, from what I can tell is purely cosmetic.

Buyer pays shipping. I will happily help load or help coordinate with shipping if necessary. Cashier's check, cash, or Paypal accepted. $500 deposit required within 48 hours of auction closing. Full payment due within 7 days of auction closing. Vehicle AS-IS, no warrantee.

Dodge whips covers off 2013 Blacktop series

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Dodge introduced us to its Blacktop model lineup a year ago with the 2012 Charger and followed up with more recently with the 2013 Challenger and 2013 Avenger. Now the automaker will be applying this ominous-looking treatment to the Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey models for 2013 as well. These models will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show, but Dodge has released most of the details for these new products including pricing and availability.
If the Grand Caravan R/T (aka, the Man Van) wasn't aggressive enough for you or its $30,000 starting price was a little too pricey, then the 2013 Grand Caravan Blacktop could be the ticket. Starting with the SXT trim level (which stickers at $19,995), the Blacktop package costs only $595, and adds unique features such as blacked-out headlights, grille and fog lights bezels and an all-black interior. The van rides on black-accented, 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Grand Caravan Blacktop is only available in monochromatic paint schemes limited to Billet Silver, Brilliant Black, Maximum Steel, Redline Red and Stone White
Likewise, the 2013 Journey Blacktop is offered only on the SXT model (starting at $18,995) with all of the crossover's normal options such as four- and six-cylinder engines, five- or seven-passenger seating and front- or all-wheel drive. The Blacktop package adds $995 to the Journey SXT's price and features many of the same black accents as the Grand Caravan like the headlights, grille, door mirrors and lower fascia. Exterior colors are limited to Bright Silver, Bright Red, Brilliant Black, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat and Storm Grey, and the package's 19-inch wheels come in Gloss Black. Inside, the Journey Blacktop comes standard with black cloth seats and Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, but black leather is also available as an option.

2018 Dodge Challenger GT Drivers' Notes Review | The right car for the season

Fri, Feb 9 2018

Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale: Dodge uses the Challenger GT trim to denote its V6 all-wheel-drive model, but it seems apt for reasons besides that. The Challenger, even with a V6, is an excellent, affordable American grand tourer. It's still extremely stylish, despite barely changing looks since Dodge introduced it for the 2008 model year. The solid gray on this one was particularly attractive. It also seemed appropriate considering the Challenger's battleship size. This thing is truly massive. That's beneficial in the sense that it has an enormous trunk (perfect for touring), but not so much for maneuvering. But thankfully, it's easy to spot the corners, which helps a lot. The Challenger GT is a pretty able handler, too. It feels composed in corners, not too heavy, only mild body roll, and steering that weights up very naturally. The ride is relatively comfortable. It takes the edge off of most pavement imperfections, but you feel more than you might expect. So the Dodge Challenger GT has the style, space, and a decent balance of sportiness and comfort — which just leaves one thing left to address, the powertrain. And as it turns out, the V6 actually works quite nicely in the big Dodge. Under full throttle, you get an angry, throaty honk from the intake that, while not as smooth and classic as a V8, is still fairly satisfying. It also has more than adequate acceleration, if not exhilarating. It's a combo that makes not only a fun affordable GT car, but just a solid commuter with an extra dose of style. The only caveat is that if you need something more truly sporty, you may still want to look at a Camaro or Mustang. Associate Editor Reese Counts: I spent the latter half of last week in Idaho and Wyoming driving a pretty sweet Nissan 370Z in the snow. That car was equipped with tracks and skis and allowed me to do some pretty dumb things with few repercussions, though it was one of the loudest and most uncomfortable cars I've ever driven. Coming home to Detroit and a Destroyer Grey Challenger GT was a very nice change of pace. The thing is, this car is still plenty capable in the snow. I like the Challenger quite a bit, especially in the bonkers Hellcat and Demon guise. But not everyone needs a 700-plus horsepower brute that guzzles gas with a nearly unequalled thirst. The Challenger GT checks a lot of boxes. It looks good, it's comfortable, roomy and thanks to all-wheel drive, genuinely usable year round.

Dodge closes Caravan order books at the end of this month

Mon, May 25 2020

After being introduced as the Dodge Caravan in 1983, after debuting a long wheelbase Grand Caravan in 1987, after entering its fifth generation in 2007 and going almost unchanged since then to become the oldest minivan in the segment, after being publicly sent to the slaughterhouse in 2011, again in 2013, and again in 2015 before being pardoned thrice by the automotive governor, this month it's over for good for the best-selling Dodge and best-selling minivan in the U.S. and Canada. At least, according to Mopar Insiders, which credits dealer sources for the news that "the end of the month" will be a car shopper's last chance to order the Dodge Grand Caravan in the states that don't adhere to California emissions. Since the Grand Caravan's 3.6-liter V6 can't clear CARB mandates, Dodge pulled the model from the 13 so-called ZEV states in March this year.  Last summer, an analyst at AutoForecast Solutions told Automotive News that Dodge would cease Grand Caravan production at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada in May this year. The brief reprieve is said to be related to the coronavirus standstill, Fiat Chrysler not alone in revising its plans to make up for two months of lost production. The new 2020 Chrysler Voyager is the official replacement for the Dodge, being a de-contented Pacifica that returns an old Chrysler nameplate to circulation and is built in the same plant as the Pacifica and Grand Caravan. The Grand Caravan's numbers have come down this year, but Dodge still sold a strong 24,931 units through the first quarter of the year; the kid-hauler has sold less than 100,000 units in a year in the U.S. only twice since 1985, topping six figures for the last four years. In 35 years on sale here, the minivan has hurdled the 200,000-unit marker 19 times. With the order books open until the end of the month and Windsor plant working a single shift and still finding its feet, Grand Caravans will continue to trickle off the lines after May, but not for long.Â
