I have had this car for 32 years now and it breaks my heart to have to get rid of it. I received the car as a gift when I graduated from high school and I drove it hard for about 15 yrs. It's had a few fender benders which were fixed. My father and brother are both mechanics and body and fender men that have taken excellent care of the car. However, after acquiring several other cars, a bike, a house and family I had little time to devote to the car. As a result it landed a happy parking place in the garage; where it sat alone for a number of years. It's been about 20 yrs since I drove it on a daily bases. Occasionally I drove it for a short ride, however, I have not started the car in the past 3 yrs. I can tell you the last time I drove it it started right up after charging the battery and ran great. Could not tell you much else about the slant 6 engine except it is a very easy car to work on and that I rolled the odometer several times. The body of this car is still in good shape considering it is almost 50 yrs old. It is steel and has all it's original chrome although some have been banged up. The rear quarter panels were repaired once however, they need some additional bodywork. This car has power steering and manual brakes. When it was younger it had no problems winning both street races and track races. Being that this car is very basic compared to todays standards it would not take much to restore this car to the dream car it once was. This would be the perfect project for a beginner historian. This car was one of only 5,000 Darts made with the GT chrome package in 1966. This car is a true gem. You would never have to worry about anyone else having a car like yours with this one.

Gauging reaction to the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit on Detroit highways
Sat, Feb 7 2015Steven Ewing and I kind of pretended to be cops a few weeks ago. No, not in the illegal way; we just took turns driving the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit around Detroit and its suburbs, learning invaluable life lessons along the way. A lot of those lessons came in the form of weird reactions from other drivers. Steve peeved his neighbors by surprising them in the parking lot, I can damn close to sitting in jail next to a murderer and we both caught our fair share of evil-eyed glances. One of my very first observations was a pronounced "bubble effect" when driving in traffic on the highway. Attempting to recreate the effect for the video camera, I grabbed Senior Producer Chris McGraw and we went for a ride in the name of pseudo psychology. The results weren't exactly as we'd predicted, but we had fun all the same. Get one more dose of your cop car fix, above.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
