If you’re a fan of Mopar muscle cars, here’s your opportunity to own a piece of Mopar history. This 1970 Superbee was a project car that was built in the pages of Mopar Muscle magazine. As much as it pains me, it’s time to give someone else the opportunity to own this amazing car. This 1970 Superbee (yes, it’s a real Bee), was seen in the pages of multiple issues of Mopar Muscle magazine, and received nothing but the best parts available when it was built. The car was found in a garage in Danville, Pa, and was then transported to Florida. The build was done at Unlawful Racing in Michigan. Body: The body is perfectly straight, and flawless. The color is B5 Blue. The interior features all-new materials, and closely resembles a stock interior. The dash is a custom built piece from brushed aluminum, and filled with Autometer gauges. There is no radio in the dash, but, there is an amplifier in the trunk that connects to an MP3 player, iPhone or iPod for music. Wiring: The wiring in this car is all Canbus, and runs with three electronic modules. This system is completely programmable to run any function you want. Currently, the car does the following; when the car is parked, and at operating temperature, the electric water pump and coolant fans will run until the engine reaches a preset temperature. The headlights are “soft start” like a new car. The interior features “theater lighting” (they dim and turn off slowly). The key is not required to operate the vehicle, but the key fob is required to arm and disarm the ignition. Suspension: The front is an aftermarket k-frame by Reilly Motorsports. This suspension is a coil over design, with a rack & pinion steering. The rear suspension is a four-link design, by Unlawful Racing. SSBC four-wheel disc brakes are mounted on all four corners. This suspension offers a phenomenal ride, and unbelievable handling characteristics. The Billet wheels are made by Bonspeed, and measure 18 x 7-1/2 up front with Bridgestone S-04 -- 245/45/18 tires, and the rears are 19 x 10 with Bridgestone S-04 -- 275/40/19. Engine: CRANKSHAFT: Eagle 4.150-inch stroke, 4340 Cro-Moly RODS: Eagle 6.760-inch, 4340 H-beam, RINGS: Total Seal, M-series gapless top ring. BEARINGS: Rod bearings (Clevite CB527HD); Main bearings; (Clevite MS1277HG); Cam Bearings; (Dura-bond PD-17) HEADS: Edelbrock PN 77929 Victor big-block Chrysler. HEAD GASKETS: Cometic PN C5462 INTAKE MANIFOLD: Edelbrock PN 2893 Super Victor manifold PISTONS: JE PN 232453 COMP CAM ROLLER CAM: SPECS: .695/.675 Lift w/ 1.7 Rocker; 275/282 at .050 112 L/C CARBURETOR: Holley Dominator 1050 PN 0-80672 OILING: Milodon Transmission: Tremec TKO five speed Rear end: Dana 60 with an Eaton Truetrac differential, 30-spline axles, and 4.10 gears. This car is a blast to drive, is definitely a show stopper, and is possibly one of the nicest ’70 Superbees in the world. It is very doubtful that another one this nice, or with this pedigree will ever come up for sale again. I don’t really want to let go of it, but at this time, I currently have more toys than I need. Don’t miss out on your chance to own this spectacular piece of history.

Stellantis moves to set up its own lending unit
Sat, Sep 4 2021Stellantis is buying Houston-based auto lender First Investors Financial Services Group to set up its own finance arm in the U.S., a move that should support sales and eventually boost profit. The only major traditional automaker in the U.S. without its own finance company agreed to pay $285 million to a group of investors led by Gallatin Point Capital and Jacobs Asset Management, according to a statement. The transaction is expected to close by year-end. Stellantis was formed via the merger between Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group early this year. Carlos Tavares, the PSA boss who became the combined company’s chief executive officer, called the deal to acquire First Investors a milestone that will increase earnings and enhance customer loyalty. “Direct ownership of a finance company in the U.S. is a white-space opportunity which will allow Stellantis to provide our customers and dealers a complete range of financing options,” Tavares said Wednesday in the statement. Having an in-house finance company has helped rivals General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. pad profits, especially during the global semiconductor shortage that has limited production and crimped sales. GM bought subprime lender AmeriCredit Corp. in 2010 and renamed it GM Financial. The operation generated a $2.76 billion profit in the first half -- roughly a third of the companyÂ’s adjusted earnings before interest and taxes. Trouble for Santander? The First Investors acquisition could spell trouble for Chrysler Capital, the operation that Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. and Chrysler set up in 2013 before the U.S. automaker completed its merger with Fiat. In a statement, Santander Consumer said itÂ’s committed to supporting Stellantis through the term of their existing agreement and its transition. Santander Consumer will also have “ongoing conversations with Stellantis about long-term mutually beneficial opportunities beyond 2023,” the company said, adding that its consumer business remains strong and has “delivered solid results for our shareholders.” This, along with support from its parent company, will allow the lender to “pursue additional opportunities as they arise.” The lenderÂ’s U.S.-listed stock fell 1.5% in New York trading Wednesday after Bloomberg reported Stellantis was preparing to announce a new finance partner. Stellantis shares rose as much as 1.3% in Paris trading Thursday.
Stellantis will give its brands 10 years to prove they deserve to live
Thu, May 13 2021Formed by the merger of PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles, Stellantis has 14 brands under its roof, a number that makes it one of the largest groups in the industry. Rumors claimed not every brand would survive, with Chrysler often earmarked to get axed, but the firm said it will give them all a chance to shine. "We're giving each (brand) a chance, giving each a time window of 10 years and giving funding for 10 years to do a core model strategy. The CEOs need to be clear in brand promise, customers, targets, and brand communications," announced Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares during the Financial Times' Future of the Car event. His comments confirm Chrysler fans and dealers don't need to worry about the future — at least not yet. And, against all odds, Lancia enthusiasts can breathe a sigh of relief, too. Former FCA head Sergio Marchionne warned of the brand's demise on several occasions. Alfa Romeo is safe for now, too, as is Vauxhall, which are basically just Opels sold in the United Kingdom with a different badge. The engagement made by Tavares also means Stellantis won't divest any of its brands to raise capital until at least 2031. It's now up to each executive team to make a case for the brand they run, an unusual survival-of-the-fittest strategy in an era when cutting costs is more common than spending cash. Diving into the vast Stellantis parts bin should help even the most troubled brands turn their fortunes around on a relatively tight budget. It seems likely that survive Chrysler will need to look beyond the 300 and the Pacifica/Voyager, the only models in its range, and completely reinvent its image, which is currently nebulous at best. Lancia, once the champion of luxury, performance, and innovation, faces the same challenge. It's not starting quite from scratch, it's relatively popular in its home country of Italy, but it will need to think globally and expand outside of the city car segment to survive. Hellcat no help to Fiat-Chrysler's bottom-of-the-pile mpg average
Wed, Oct 15 2014What, you expected the "fastest muscle car ever" to help fleetwide fuel economy? Nope, don't think that's going to happen. That means Fiat Chrysler will likely to continue to languish at the bottom of the heap when it comes to fleetwide fuel economy among the largest automakers serving the US, especially as the automaker starts to sell its Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. A few hundred Fiat 500E electric vehicles aren't going to turn the trend around. See, Chrysler has once again finished at the bottom of the list when it came to fleetwide fuel economy among automakers for 2014 model-year vehicles, according to a preliminary study by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Chrysler and Fiat had an average of 21.1 miles per gallon. That substantially lagged the overall 24.2 mpg average, but it was an increase from the company's 20.9 mpg average last year and the 20.1 mpg average two years prior. For 2014, General Motors had the second-worst fleetwide fuel economy at an even 22 mpg. Fiat Chrysler does say it's working on improving its fuel economy, according to Automotive News. The company plans on making its inline-four-cylinder and V6 engines smaller, and will sell more vehicles with eight- and nine-speed transmissions. Heck, there's even a plug-in hybrid version of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan in the works for late 2015, and the company can tout fuel-efficiency gains with the Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee. We would be remiss if we didn't note that, compared to its muscle-car forefathers, the Hellcat actually performs pretty well at the pump. Last month, word got out that the 2015 Challenger Hellcat, equipped either with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, got a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. Heck, the automatic-tranny version got 22 mpg on the highway. And that's for a car with 707 horsepower and a 10-second quarter-mile time. Still, with the pedal floored, the car can burn a gallon and a half of fuel per minute. Ouch.
