Up for auction is a very good 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T project. Let me start off by saying this car is a project and does not run. It will also need to be restored/ repaired to be driven. Originally the car was a 440 4BBL. 727 automatic car with bucket seats and a column shift automatic. The original engine and transmission have been removed and are long gone. I do however have a 67 440 HP block and a 67 440 HP 727 transmission that go with the car. The block that I have is already .030 over and should clean up at .040. It has been cleaned previously at a machine shop. The engine block does have some damage as it was stored inside a warehouse sitting on its end, and a rat had a nest in the bottom side of it. So it has some pitting at the bottom of the block that can be seen in some of the pictures. It also has one motor mount ear that is broken. The casting date on the block is 7-15-66 and the casting number is 2536430-6. The assembly date and information on the top pad is  C440 12 29 HP2. I also have a complete 67 727 Tansmission that goes with the car the numbers stamped on it are H 2801541 3351126.  The transmission came from a running car, but I would consider it a core or at least look into it. Other parts that I have for the car are the original radiator with side brackets part number 2785936, original fan shroud part # 2785434, drive shaft, crossmember, original hood louver, replacements for the seat medalions, and possibly some other miscellaneous parts. The rear end under the car is the factory  8 3/4 with a 741 case suregrip with as best i can tell a 4.56 gear ratio. I am assuming it was changed out when it was being drag raced.

The car itself is an overall very good project and rare to be found in this good of condition. It has very solid interior floor pans, trunk pan, quarter panels, trunk extensions, frame rails, rockers, fenders , and doors. The rust issues are on the back of the left quarter panel on top before it gets to the taillight extension, the 90 degree turn on the iside of the trunk gutter/ taillight panel, and around the rear taillamps on the inside. There is about a 6" place on the left side inside the trunk gutter above the rear bumper that has rust through. The left side rear panel appears worse than the right , but the tailight panel or the rear panel above the rear bumper does have some rust. Also one spot on the passenger front door jamb there is a hole rusted trough , where it appears somethiing has gotten trapped inside there. The car is wearing mostly its original PP1 paint and it is showing its age. It has several places that are rubbed through along with several spots of surface rust showing throught the paint. I did buff up the car after purchasing it along with removing quite a bit of paint overspray. For the most part the car has a decent shine to it. I can tell that a spot on the lower rear portion of the left fender has been repaired and refinished before along with the bottom of the right rear quarter panel. There are some dents and dings that you would expect to find on a car of this age. It has a good sized dent in the bottom of the left  drivers door , but I see no reason why it could not be reapired. Also both quarter panels have had the quarter lip pinched flat with vise grips to get a bigger tire under the car and above that on the lt side quarter ithere is also a dent. The hood was also damaged at some point and has been replaced with another but I do still have the original hood scoop/louver. The glass is all present in the car. The front windshield is cloudy from age and has some scratches from the wipers. Also the back glass has some scratching from something in the past. The vinyl top is good for its age, but does have a few places that are coming up and that are torn. The front and rear bumper are good straight bumpers to be original. The front I cleaned up some with some steel wool, but the back needs to be cleaned on to remove the overspray. The front bumper has also had the tow bar added to it. The grille is overall straight and does have the center delete plate. The grille surround are also good to be original. The drivers side has a place top and bottom where it has bumped something and I think the passenger side has one spot on the inside where it is painted silver.

I have the chrysler historical paperwork for the car and it shows to have been shipped on Dec.16th 1966 to Stewart-Mathena Dodge in Daytona beach, FL. The options on the car are as follows: Paint: PP1 Bright Red, trim: P6X black all vinyl bucket seats with Black carpet, Engine: 83 = 440 4 bbl dual exhaust, transmission 395 = toqueflite, Radio: 421=music master, Tires 48= 7.75x14 Red streak ,Power equipment 456= power steering, Axle ratio 402= 2.94:1 , glass 522= tinted-windshield only, 581= wheel covers,606 = vinyl roof black in color, 616 = stripes. The car also still retains the original fender tag and certi card. Some info on the fender tag is TRM=P6X, PNT=PP, WS23 83 485 C1908204. The certi card also has some info on it such as  P6X, PP1 T5 SA 1219 and the vin os WS23L77160776. Car came factory with white painted pinstripes. The car aslo has the SO number stamped into the radiator support  77C1908204. The fender tag and certi card are both pictured. The fender tag looks to have had a battery blow up on it in the past and is missing a section. I did remove the original carpet to get a good look at the floor pans and also to picture them. I did not see a build sheet under the carpet. I guess it may be possible to find one somewhere else in the car, but I can not say for sure that there is one.

I bought this car from a man that bought it after the engine was blown up while being raced in 1979 or 1980. It has been in dry storage since then so that explains the condition. The damage done to the car during the racing was they rolled/flattened the factory inner quarter panel lip of both quarters to get a bigger tire under the car. They also removed the original passenger seat along with the back seats. They removed and discarded the original rear set of quarter wheel lip trim as well. I have found and replaced passenger seat with correct tracks, and another back seat. The car has its original drivers side bucket seat, door panels in nice original condition, original carpet, original headliner that has been repaired, and original dash. The dash pad is crack free, but has had a tachometer mounted on it in front of the driver so it does have a couple holes through it. I have some replacement seat medalions that go with the car, but they will need to be restored.

My original plan for the car was to buff the car up and get it looking decent then do the brakes and fuel system, build the engine and trans to get the car road worthy and drive it just as it is. I think it would make a neat cruiser as is , but you could also turn in and do a resto on the car if you choose. I have installed a complete set of centerline auto drags on the car. The rears are 15X8 with 275/60/15 tires that are at least 50 percent good tread. The fronts are 15x4 or 15x4.5 with basically new 165/80R15 tires. I just have too many project pulling to many direction and I also have a limited amount of space to put them in so I thought I would see how this car does as it sets. As I say the car does have its own issues, but it is a fairly original car that has not been restored. It is also 46 years old car that has been driven and raced. Plese use the pictures that have been provided to also help aid in the description as all sales are final and the car is sold as is how is with no type of warranty. Here is a link to a photo bucket account that also has 285 pictures of the car that I have taken from the time I purchased it. http://s298.photobucket.com/user/mattsmopars/library/1967%20coronet?sort=3&page=7#/user/mattsmopars/library/1967%20coronet?sort=3&page=1&_suid=1377558112091011650006251918216

As I said before the car is sold as is with no warranty. All sales are final. Please do not bid if you are not serious about purchasing the car. If you have less than 10 positive feedback please contact me before you bid. All shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. I will try to work any way that I can to help aid in the pick up of the car. A $500.00 dollar non refunable deposit will be required through paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The car must be paid in full with cash or bank wire transfer within 7 days of auction end. I will also try to work with the buyer on keeping the car stored, but I would prefer it be moved within one month. Please ask any and all questions before the auction ends and before you bid. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. You can send me an Ebay message if you want my phone number and I will be glad to talk with you as well. I do have a clear Tennesse title in my name. The car will not leave until all funds have cleared the bank or it has been paid in full . Thanks for looking!

Dodge Viper now available in matte finish

Tue, Jun 23 2015

The prospect of buying a new Dodge Viper just got that much more enticing with the introduction of matte-finish paint direct from the factory. Available as part of the "1 of 1" customization program, the matte finishes aren't being offered in just a handful of colors like some other automakers do: customers will be able to specify a matte finish on any of the 8,000 colors that are already part of the program's palette. The matte finish option adds yet another step to the exhaustive hand-painting process that Dodge offers on the Viper - a painstaking endeavor that takes upwards of 145 man hours to complete. Specialists start by applying a base coat and a clear finish, followed by the paint and clear coat. The finished body panels are then smoothed with 1,000-grit paper and polished. A second sanding process is required for the matte finish before the application of a matte clear coat. Specify custom stripes (available in five colors or by custom order) and they're applied under the paint, not as decals on top. The availability of the matte finish in conjunction with the stripe options and new satin badging and fuel cap leads to over 50 million combinations. Needless to say, that means no two Vipers need ever leave the Conner Avenue assembly plant the same – though there will surely always be certain favorite combinations, especially on those units ordered from outside the customization program. Dodge Demon makes so much torque, it needs stronger driveline parts

Thu, Mar 2 2017

Torque is a lovely thing, a sweet and wonderful force that twists and pulls and can help propel a two-ton metal box forward at comical speeds. Torque is also fickle and will bend and break those same metal parts without a second thought, which is why the new Dodge Demon is compensating for its increased torque with some new re-engineered and reinforced parts. And there's software intended to combat wheel hop, which one of the most dramatic ways torque can break stuff. Week 8's video, "Race-hardened Parts," gives a hint towards what all these new parts can do. While we still don't know how much torque the Demon will throw out, we do know it's enough to warrant an upgraded prop shaft, half shafts, and a differential housing. The Challenger Hellcat, which is the basis for the Demon, makes 650 pound-feet of torque already. The new parts will go a long way toward making sure the work from the Demon's engine is properly translated into motion by those Nitto drag radials. The new prop shaft uses high-strength steel, heat-treated stub-shafts, and increases the tube thickness by 20 percent for a 15 percent increase in torque capacity. Additionally, Dodge says the upgraded differential housing allows for a 30 percent increase in torque capacity by using heat-treated A383 aluminum alloy and a higher strength shot-peened gear set. The 41-spline half shafts that deliver 20 percent increased torque capacity through the use of high-strength low alloy steel and 8-ball joints. In addition to the hardware, the Launch Assist software has been tuned to help alleviate wheel hop. Dodge says the Demon is the first factory production car that uses wheel speed sensors to detect hop and momentarily cut torque to compensate. This means a driver can keep their foot planted on the floor while the computer sorts out the traction. Previously, the best solution was to back off the throttle to manually cut the load. Finally, the Dodge Demon will offer a four-point harness mounting bar as an optional accessory. The part will be supplied by Speedlogix and fits in place of the deleted rear seat. Customers can install the bar without having to hack apart their cars to find a proper mounting point. Look for more teasers and info on ifyouknowyouknow.com in the lead-up to the Demon's debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show. 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline revs into Chicago

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

When Dodge released the Challenger Rallye Redline last year, it brought a new dimension of styling to the car's classic muscle car lines, but it was only available in V6 form lacking the oomph to back up its sinister appearance. To remedy that situation, Dodge is unveiling the Challenger R/T Redline, powered by a Hemi V8 engine, at the Chicago Auto Show.
Other than the extra cylinders, most of the R/T's Redline package carries over from the Rallye model including the custom-look 20-inch black chrome wheels with red paint accents, but the R/T version of the package gets more of a retro look to the side stripes with graphite graphics featuring Redline lettering. Cars equipped with the six-speed manual transmission will get a performance-tuned, low-restriction exhaust allowing the engine to produce 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque; cars with the five-speed auto are rated at 372 hp and 400 lb-ft, but they do offer a bright chrome Mopar t-handle shifter and steering wheel paddle shifters.
The R/T Redline Group is offered only on cars painted in Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Bright White and Pitch Black, and it adds just $1,995 to the MSRP of the Challenger R/T (starting at $31,990) and the Challenger R/T Plus (starting at $33,990), which adds features like Nappa leather and Boston Acoustics speakers.
