For Sale is a nicely restored 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 convertible.

This car turns heads wherever it goes.  Mid-60s B-bodies have terrific lines, and convertibles in this condition are even more attractive.  The car is finished in its rare, original silver/blue base coat/clear coat color and dark blue top.  This Coronet includes power steering and brakes.  All accessories work including the power top.  The car was completely restored in 2008 and has only been driven 3,000 since that time.  Mostly cruising the neighborhood.

The Coronet has its original numbers matching drivetrain consisting of a 318ci, 230 HP V8,  The transmission is a smooth shifting, 3-speed 727 Torqueflight and the rear end is an 8 3/4 ” 2.94 limited slip.  New dual exhaust has been installed with a nice throaty sound.  The rear end was resealed, as was the transmission.  The engine has undergone a three angle valve job with new hardened seats to accommodate today’s unleaded fuels.

Electronic ignition was added for improved reliability. Fuel lines were replaced and the gas tank was flushed.  All mechanicals were completely gone through.  Complete new brakes were installed all the way around, including a new power booster, wheel cylinders, and rear brake lines.     The front end is tight and the suspension is in excellent working condition. Adjustable air shocks have been installed on the rear of the car.

Solid floors and laser straight body panels with no signs of rust.  The quarters were repaired correctly with new metal patch panels.  The original bumpers appear to have been re-chromed at some point due to the excellent condition and appearance.  All trim is there and in excellent condition.  I lost one of the V8 emblems but have purchased a replacement which will be installed prior to sale.   The front grill is flawless.  The convertible top has been replaced and is in excellent condition.    The paint and finish are in excellent condition. Not a “trailer queen” show car finish, but a 8 on a scale of 1-10.  No visible nicks or scratches.

Chrysler killing off the 200 Convertible, Dodge Avenger

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

When Chrysler rolled out the first-generation 200 to replace the Sebring range in 2010, it included replacements for both the sedan and the convertible. The Sebring Coupe, however, was left out of the mix. And now that the second-generation Chrysler 200 is descending upon us, Auburn Hills is paring things down even further. But this time, it's the convertible that reportedly isn't making the cut. Shame, too, since the rendering above shows what could have been quite an attractive droptop.
As our compatriots at Edmunds point out, sales of the convertible model accounted for less than five percent of overall Chrysler 200 sales, and at those numbers, the considerable cost of engineering a new drop-top couldn't be justified. With the Toyota Camry Solara and Volkswagen Eos also gone from the market (well, the VW isn't gone quite yet), the discontinuation of the Chrysler 200 Convertible leaves the affordable convertible segment largely to the sportier likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro and smaller European offerings like the Mini Cooper and VW Beetle.
The Chrysler 200 Convertible isn't the only derivative being left behind with the new model: so too is the Dodge Avenger. That will leave a glaring hole in the Dodge lineup, with nothing to bridge the gap between the compact Dart and the larger Charger. Whether the Dodge brand has any plans to replace the Avenger with another model, not to be based on the 200, remains to be seen.

Experience the New York Auto Show by drone

Fri, Apr 10 2015

The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. Hennessey's Dodge Challenger Hellcat cranks out 1,032 hp

Mon, Feb 22 2016

Enthusiasts know the Dodge Challenger Hellcat produces 707 horsepower. It's one of the modern muscle-car era's iconic numbers. But for some, that's not enough. Enter Hennessey Performance. The Texas tuners loaded the Hellcat with a twin-turbocharger that works with Dodge's supercharger to boost output to 1,032 hp and 987 pound-feet of torque. Yes, that's an engine dyno rating, not at the rear wheels, but still! It's a little more complicated than a bolt-on booster. Called the HPE1000, the turbo kit has stainless steel headers and down pipes, billet aluminum compressor wheels, and a high-flow air system. There's also an an improved fuel pump, and the engine and chassis are specially calibrated. You also get numbered plaques signed by John Hennessey himself and the engine tech who builds your mill. All of this helps get your Hellcat to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, and it can do the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph. The Hellcat and it's 6.2-liter blown Hemi V8 are not for the faint of heart. Hennessey makes this Dodge downright demonic.
