Description

This is a factory plum crazy 1971 Dodge Challenger with the original 340 cubic inch engine and transmission. This car is an excellent driver with over $20,000 in mechanical work recently done to make sure this car drives as good as it looks. The work done includes:
-Edelbrock intake manifold and carb set up (The original parts are included with the car as well)
-Blaster ignition coil
-Pro Billet distributor
-New exhaust with Flowmaster series 50 mufflers
-Edelbrock water pump
-New harmonic balancer
-New fuel pump
-New fuel tank
-New sending unit
-215/70/R14 BF Goodrich TA tires
-New upper/lower ball joints
-New stabilizer links
-New control arms bushings
-New tie rod ends/adjusters
-New gear box
-New shocks
-New idler arm
-New strut rod bushings
-New pitman arm
-Rebuilt master cylinder
-New brake hoses
-New front brake pads/rear shoes
-Rebuilt wheel cylinders and calipers
-New alternator
-New starter
-New battery cables and tray
-New AC compressor, drier, condenser, hose, expansion valve and blower switch

All of this combined with an ownership history being well cared for and 98,000 original miles, this car is mechanically excellent. The paint was done some time ago and still has a great shine to it. The body has a few dings here and there but overall is in very good shape with no rust (none in the trunk or floor pans either). This is a factory Plum Crazy Purple car with a vinyl roof. There’s no bubbles or rust underneath the top and the vinyl is in great condition with no rips, tears or fading.
The inside is all original with the exception of the radio and stock appearing dash cover (the original dash is still underneath). This car came from the factory with the rare houndstooth inserts on the seats which are in excellent condition as well as the center console and door panels. Everything on the car works as it should.
Included with the car is the original body broadcast sheet that had never been removed since it left the factory until a few months ago.  Also included are the original intake manifold and carburetor.
It’s an excellent driver quality car that can be taken out and driven worry free as is or a great candidate for full concourse restoration. Either way, you have the most desirable year in the most desirable color on one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time

Toyota, Lexus dominate KBB's Best Resale Value Awards

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

Toyota and Lexus stormed the 2014 Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards, winning a combined 18 categories including best brand and best luxury brand. This marks the third year in a row that both automakers have won the Brand and Luxury Brand resale value awards. In all, Toyota won 11 categories and Lexus won seven.
Honda made a good showing, as well, winning two segments (Accord Plug-In Hybrid and Civic Si) and putting one car on the top-10 Best Resale Value list (CR-V). Chevrolet did even better, winning two segments (with the V6 Camaro and the Corvette) and placing three cars on the top-10-overall list (again, the Camaro and Corvette, plus the Silverado 1500).
The other winners came from Jeep, Dodge, Infiniti, Subaru and Audi. To give you a clearer picture of the Toyota and Lexus domination, their 18 mentions represents more than half of the 34 awards (including the top-10-overall list).

We're pretty sure the Challenger SRT Demon won't have 1,121 horsepower, but what if?

Fri, Feb 3 2017

Dodge's slow rollout of the upcoming Demon continues, and with it comes endless speculation about what it all means. Every video, every image, and every press release contains some clue that points towards the Demon's final specs. We don't think any of it is random or arbitrary. This week cryptic image, a small plate with a name and two numbers, shows us a little more than last week's license plate. Unfortunately, Dodge will neither confirm or deny anything, meaning we have no way of knowing which rabbit hole to go down. Don't expect to see official horsepower, a quarter-mile time, or an MSRP until the New York Auto Show. The plate is attached to the crate of goodies that comes along with every Dodge Demon. This particular one is labeled with three things: Tom Coddington, serial number 0757, and VIN 001121. The name is simple enough. According to Hot Rod, Coddington was one of the original Ramchargers, a group of engineers in the early 1960s that helped Dodge get involved in drag racing. He was a fuel system specialist, motor consultant, and a rotating garage manager. All of that could be clues. While a name is easy enough to Google, the two numbers can't be broken down so easily. The crazier theory is that the car makes 1,121 horsepower and will do the quarter-mile in 7.57 seconds. Frankly, those numbers are about as likely as the Demon actually being powered by a Rolls-Royce turbofan engine from a Boeing 757 or packing a carburetor with 1,121 CFM. The Demon is going to be street legal, and the costs associated with making a 1,121-hp car meet emissions standards alone are assuredly astronomical. As our friends from Road & Track pointed out, the more likely theory is that 757 is actually the horsepower rating. This seems totally plausible, but it means we still don't know what 1,121 means. Surely it's not a drag strip time, as the standard Hellcat will do 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds. Like before, if you have any ideas, post them in the comments. Until April, we'll keep trying to solve Dodge's demonic puzzle. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet

Wed, Oct 7 2015

Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
