1970 Dodge Challenger Rt/se Restored on 2040-cars
Gorham, Maine, United States

Offered for sale is my freshly restored 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE. This is a true RT/SE car. JS29NOB******. I purchased this car a few years ago and have spent the last 2 years bringing it to what we have here. This is a nicely frame on restored true RT/SE FC7 plum crazy Challenger with white vinyl top (new). I consider this to be a nice high quality #2 car that is meant to be driven and enjoyed. The car was completely stripped down to metal before repainting in original colors. It has had lower quarter patches, front lower quarter patches, new tail light panel, new rear crossmember (where bumper bolts to) and left side engine bay panel replaced during the restoration. This car is correct in appearance as it came off the line. New interior carpet, new Legendary Interiors front (leather) buckets and rear vinyl seats, new package tray and rear seat divider. Under the hood is a period correct but not original to the car 1970 383 engine with a complete and freshly rebuilt 727 torqueflite automatic transmission. This is the same combination the car was originally equipped with. I personally did not overhaul the engine during the restoration (it had been done by a previous owner). I tore it down for inspection and noticed the crankshaft was balanced. Removed the bearings caps, all good. Everything looked good so some fresh gaskets all around, new freeze plugs, water pump, t-stat, starter, plugs, plug wires, all new engine/light wiring harnesses and it runs top notch. It has been changed to electronic ignition.
Some of the factory features are A/C (not currently charged, have a new A/C dryer that goes with it), power windows, power steering, overhead console (complete and working), AM radio, console, chrome wheel well moldings. The car was an original factory power drum brake set-up. I converted the front to disc for safety but retained all the original drum parts and they go with the car. Rebuilt power booster, new master cylinder, rebuilt date coded wiper motor, MOPAR yellow cap battery, new fuel tank, new fuel tank sending unit, fuel pump, new complete OE exhaust from the manifolds all the way back (resonators and mufflers), re-chromed original tail light bezels. New door window handles, door window hardware, radiator sent out and pressure tested, newer Edelbrock carb, trunk mat, new hood hinges, hood insulation pad, new emblems all around and much much more...... The front suspension is all new and completely rebuilt. New pitman arm, tie rods, bushings, links etc. It has been to the alignment shop and drives perfectly straight down the road no shake or shimmy in the wheel. Tire are 14" BF Goodrich and are excellent. I haven't tallied up my receipts but I'm well north of $60,000 into this car. Paint and body work alone was over $21,000.00. I have a photocopy of the original build sheet. Somewhere the actual build sheet got lost through ownership changed but somebody was smart enough to make a few photocopies. It's readable and correct so you can verify but not the best copy. Also the ID tag on the fender matches with the VIN on the windshield, that matches the door jamb. You can make out the last 6 of the VIN on the cowl and it still retains its original radiator support as the last 6 of the VIN are clearly readable on it clearly documenting this as the real thing. This car is not perfect. Was never meant to be. There are still a few things that need finishing. The A/C is not charged. The blower fan runs constant so I disconnected it for now. It likely needs the blower switch replaced. Wipers currently are not operating (they were). Might be the switch. Power windows work but motors a bit weak. AM radio not working (haven't really look at it). The clock WORKS! As far as the history of the car goes, I have some documentation tracing it back into the 90's where it was a Southern car. The frame is very clean and had been undercoated by a previous owner some time ago. I have 100's of pictures documenting the restoration. I'd be happy to send a photobucket link to anyone interested. Serious interest only. I am looking to sell as I have gone WAY overboard on this project and have 1 daughter in college with another off next year. Interest buyers can contact me anytime for a full and honest description of the car. I highly encourage anyone interested to hire an independent appraiser or come see the car in person before even considering a bid. A deposit of $500.00 is due within 48 hours of auction closing. The State of Maine does not issue titles for vehicles this old. Sold on Bill of Sale only. I do have a South Carolina title that shows ownership changes from one person to a dealer in S.C. then re-sold to a dealer in PA. There is actually a few old documents where this car was sold on eBay ages ago! I can be reached for any and all questions anytime: Mark 207-671-2209 |

2018 Dodge Charger Pursuit ambush prevention system enhanced to protect cops
Mon, Jul 24 2017For the 2018 model year, Dodge has rolled out some minor but useful updates to the Charger Pursuit police car. It now features a larger infotainment screen standard. It moves from 5 inches to 7 inches. But if police departments wish, they can opt for a massive 12-inch touchscreen that can replace a cumbersome laptop computer. The new standard 7-inch screen will also be handy for using the now standard rear-view camera, as well as the "Officer Protection Package," which is a no-cost option. This package, like last year, uses the rear-view camera and parking sensors to monitor whether someone is approaching behind the car. It's main use is preventing ambushes. When something is detected, an audible alert is sounded, and the camera sends video to the screen for the officer to see what's behind the car. It can also trigger the lights to go on, the doors to lock, and the windows to roll up. Selecting the "Officer Protection Package" also adds the "Fleet Safety Group," a new feature for the Charger Pursuit. This group of options adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Finally, a new color "IndiGo Blue," will be offered. It joins an array of factory and police-only colors for the Charger Pursuit. Interestingly, a Charger Pursuit can also be had in very bright colors such as "Go Mango" orange, and "TorRed" red. Related Video:

Chrysler Recalling 700k Vehicles For Ignition Switch Woes
Tue, Jul 1 2014General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey. According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags. There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date." To fix the problem, Chrysler will install a new detent ring in the vehicles. It will begin contacting owners soon, and obviously the repair will be free of charge. This isn't the first time this problem has cropped up in these models. Chrysler issued a recall for 248,437 vehicles in 2011 for certain 2010 model year examples. A few weeks ago, NHTSA also began investigating the 2008-2010 model years of the affected models for ignition switch problems. At this time, it's not clear whether that evaluation and this campaign are linked. Chrysler told Autoblog that it has no reports of injuries related to the problem. Scroll down to read the company's statement and the NHTSA recall report. Statement: Expansion of Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) safety recall July 1, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Out of an abundance of caution, Chrysler Group is expanding a previous safety recall to install a more robust WIN module detent ring. A previous recall in 2010 included 196,000 Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan and Dodge Journey vehicles built August 2, 2009 through June 17, 2010. The expansion includes an additional 695,957 vehicles manufactured January 29, 2007 through August 1, 2009.
