This car is the 2006 Launch Edition and has special significance because it is #43 of 200 which happens to be the most Iconic Dodge racer of all time, The King Richard Petty The exhaust is custom built by NayKid Racing a (previously) factory supported Viper racing team and demands attention without being obnoxious while releasing a little more power from the mighty V10 over stock The fact that we raced new from the factory Vipers (this car was never raced) allowed some team spares (brand new parts) to find their way onto this team owner's street car as follows: * Full T1 Suspension * Moton Double Adjustable Remote Reservoir Shocks * Eibach Coil-over Springs * Fully adjustable sway bars The tires and wheels have less than 2,000 miles on them as they were pulled off one of the race cars during it's conversion from street car and installed on this car. The car has been tasteful lowered just enough to look drop dead sexy yet still navigate the average speed bump or driveway successfully. The driver's seat has been lowered 1" which is just enough that a six footer doesn't have to lean over in the car to see a traffic light. FYI: "rebuilt" title due to mishap when car was very new, many Viper's ended up with rebuilt titles due the extremely high cost of parts and commonly being owned by very meticulous people who pushed insurance companies to total rather than repair these powerful machines. I've owned this car for 5 years, it was repaired, inspected licensed and insured before I bought it. It has been licensed, insured and driven for pleasure every year since. In Washington you must take the damaged car, after the repair is made and "before" you are issued a title and are granted the ability to license the car for the highway you must have the car inspected. Once the car has been inspected and deemed repaired properly and safe for the road you are issued a "branded" title which could say, "rebuilt" (as in this case) or "not actual miles" etc and then you license the car and smog check it etc just like any other car never to bother again with anything more than any other clean title car. I have to smog check it every other year which it passes with flying colors because we've made no changes that affect smog. As for insurance I've also had insurance on it the whole time with Ameriprize and all I had to do was have an inspection done by an ASE mechanic and show current pictures of car the same as insuring a classic. It could be different in another state but I would be surprised and I encourage you to make a couple calls. The thing that happened a lot with these Vipers was they would have incur light damage and the salvage value is so high on them that the insurance company could make out better by totaling them. In other words, the way a car is determined to be totaled is as follows: Cost of repairs + expenses related to downtime (IE: rental car) OR Replacement cost (how much car owner will settle for to walk away from car) - salvage value (what someone will buy the damaged car for) is what determines the insurance company's outlay. Whichever is the less of the two determines if car will be totaled or not. Typically a Viper is worth $75k to replace yet brings $55k in salvage so net loss for insurance company is $20k, when you compare that to $15k to repair a small damage + 60 days worth of rental cars and expenses @ $6k that's $21k so better off to total even with minor damage... This car was repaired properly and is owned and driven by an accomplished road racing team owner as his personal street car, this also allowed for this car to end up with some very cool and elusive parts direct from Dodge Motorsports due to his Sponsorship with Dodge. Mopar '13 Dart will roll into Chicago next week
Thu, 31 Jan 2013We think this officially counts as a tradition. Every year going back to 2010, Mopar has rolled out a limited edition version of a popular product from the Chrysler Group portfolio. First it was the Mopar '10 Challenger, then the Mopar '11 Charger, then last year's Mopar '12 300, and this year it will be the Mopar '13 Dart, which will make its official world debut next week at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
Limited in number to just 500 units, the Mopar '13 Dart is no mere appearance package, though the demeanor of the Dart will be murdered out with a gloss black finish, gloss black 18-inch wheels, a set of Mopar blue stripes and a mean-looking Mopar ground effects kit. Likewise, the interior is touched up with leather seats (a blue one for the driver and black hides for the passengers), gloss black and black chrome trim, blue accent stitching, a sport pedal kit and other Mopar interior accessories.
Turning our attention back to the mechanical bits, the Mopar '13 Dart comes with the car's most powerful engine, a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir four (shared with Fiat 500 Abarth) that's paired with a manual transmission. Those big, black wheels get wrapped in low profile 225/40R18 performance tires, and keeping everything in check is an upgraded brake kit with slotted rotors. The steering has also been calibrated for performance, the suspension lowered seven millimeters, and the exhaust tuned for better engine breathing.
Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty
Mon, Jan 26 2015Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
Police officer fired for sexually harassing a young woman
Wed, Aug 24 2016A police officer in Jackson, Mississippi was fired after a video surfaced on Tuesday of him sexually harassing a young woman from his patrol car. According to WAPT, Officer Darryl Stasher of the Jackson Mississippi Police Department rolled up to two young women walking down the street and began talking to them through the driver's side window of his patrol car. During his discourse, his language because coarser and more suggestive. He gave one young woman his number and told her that he was "going to take care of her" and that he wanted to "do more than talk". He also suggested that the two should "get a room" together. The whole exchange was caught on video, and soon after the incident the young woman uploaded the footage to Facebook where it quickly went viral. It didn't take long for the Jackson Police Department to get wind of the video. "The Jackson Police Department does have possession of the video that was posted to Facebook by the young lady," said JPD Commander Tyree Jones. "Chief (Lee) Vance found the video to be very disturbing. He is very disappointed due to the content that's in the video." Upon learning of the video, JPD put Officer Stasher on desk duty pending the results of an internal affairs investigation. Stasher, who worked for at least eight years for JPD in the second precinct, was fired soon after the investigation finished. Related Video:
