There is nothing on the road that can beat this Viper GTS for pure, in your face, excitement. This particular GTS only has 11,600 original, 2 owner miles. This first year Viper coupe is almost like new...having been driven less than 700 miles a year, since it was manufactured. (The front spoiler has the typical Viper "scrapes" from high driveways, but this can be easily touched up.) This is the most collectible Viper and the one that any true Viper enthusiast must have in their collection. The finish on this car is virtually unblemished having been professionally cared for since new.  (First owner was a Dodge dealer.) Always garaged and covered, this car has never been out in the rain.  Even more impressive than the magnificent body, is the heart pounding, 488 cubic inch, 8 liter V-10 engine. Putting out 450 horsepower and 490 lb/ft of torque, this machine will make the drivers of cars costing three times as much, weep! Underneath this car is an extremely clean chasis complete with 6 speed manual transmission. Wheels are polished aluminum, 17 inch and the tires are the original P275/40 fronts and P335/35's in the rear.  The interior is black and in wonderful condition since this car never sat out in the sun. The original books, and 2 remote keys are included with the purchase of this car.  Also included are the original Pace car decals, still in the box. (Pictures show the condition of the car, but actual car is in climate controlled, covered storage.)  This car is a fabulous opportunity for someone to purchase a like new, $70,000 Viper, for an extremely reasonable price.  These cars seem to have bottomed out in value, and are now on the way up...bid to win!

I am a private individual reducing their collection. My feedback of 100% is very important to me.  Bid with confidence on this beautiful Viper.  In some states, such as Arizona, you will not have to pay any sales tax. Please do not bid unless you are serious about the purchase of this car.  The reserve is VERY reasonable, and the car should sell. This is a used vehicle and there are no warranties, either expressed or implied on this car.  God bless America....

Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding? Dodge Viper might not live past 2017

Wed, Oct 14 2015

The Dodge Viper might be running out of venom because the muscle-bound sports car could be on the road to being cancelled in just a few years. According to Allpar, the proposed deal between the United Auto Workers and FCA US would close the Connor Avenue Assembly plant, which produces the Viper, in 2017. The proposed union contract doesn't give a reason for closing the factory, but the decision is understandable if frustrating. The plant was idled twice last year to reduce production of the Viper to match flagging demand. A $15,000 price cut for the coupe eventually allowed for a sales surge, but that appetite hasn't continued in 2015. From January through September of this year, the company has only moved 503 of the sports cars, down eight percent. To further spur demand, Dodge has employed a few other tactics like the 1 of 1 program for buyers to personalize their Vipers, and the introduction of the brutally track-focused ACR. In a world where high-end sports cars are continuing to get friendlier for both their drivers and the environment, the Viper remains a holdout with a big, naturally aspirated V10. Even with the addition of some electronic aids on the latest Vipers, the snake still demands respect from those behind the wheel. Respect is fine, but sales are what matter to FCA – and the harsh reality is that a lack thereof might force the Viper into retirement, whether we like it or not.

2022 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Challenger, Charger recalled for faulty TPMS sensors

Mon, Jul 25 2022

Stellantis is recalling some of its longest-running models to address a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor defect that may be erroneously indicating a low-pressure condition — 52,340 cars shipped with sensors built with batteries that may fail prematurely, triggering a TPMS light when there is no actual safety threat.  A TPMS light that remains constantly illuminated is not only annoying but it could also mask a real tire pressure loss, which is a safety hazard. Stellantis says the production range for potentially impacted models runs from September 7, 2021 to June 9, 2022, indicating it took some time for issues to crop up in the wild, so just because no issue has crept up yet, doesn't mean it won't later on.  Notices have begun circulating to dealers and should be sent to owners by early September. In the meantime, owners should verify any tire pressure warnings independently before driving their vehicles.  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
