Dodge Sprinter 2500 144" Mercedes 3.0 Diesel on 2040-cars

Well equipped Dodge Sprinter Van, 2500 144" wheelbase, 3.92 rear.
This is my third Sprinter. I had previously owned a 2004 and 2007 and all of them performed beautifully for me over the years. I bought this van new in January 2010 from a Dodge dealer in Oregon to use as a service vehicle for my two-way radio company in Sanford, N.C. This van was purchased during the Mercedes-Chrysler divorce and I was worried that they would no longer be imported and new diesels were going to have to meet more stringent emissions (Urea, AdBlue). My 2007 Sprinter only had 80k miles and had plenty of service life but it was a plain white typical dealer stock model with no options. I wanted a new van with a color other than white and to have a few of the cool MB options that are really hard to find. I searched dealer inventories all over the US before finding this one. I called the dealer and asked about it. Supposedly the dealer had a relationship with an RV conversion company and had special ordered this van for them. The RV company had gone under and the dealer had this one on the lot for nearly a year. With a sticker price north of $52,000 it wasn't going to sell to the typical cargo van buyer. We negotiated a price and I bought a plane ticket, flew out and had a great road trip driving it back to N.C. during a January thaw. Since purchasing I have installed a rear bench seat I found on Ebay. Installed 1.5" Armacell thermal/acoustic foam inside all the cavities and lined the walls and rear roof with carpet covered plywood panels. Replaced the OEM Continental tires with Michelins, Upgraded the shocks with Bilsteins all around, Replaced the brake pads with Performance Friction pads and installed the Adrian Steel shelving I had removed from my prior owned Sprinters. The van is on the second set of Michelin LTX tires with only about 20k on them. The first set was installed at 3,500 miles and they lasted 90k. My average MPG is 21.5 over life. Best MPG 24.2 (really trying) and worst MPG is 18.1. The van had a static load of roughly 1k pounds while it was in service for me. It was my toolbox on wheels and always had what I needed in easy reach inside to complete a project. The dynamics of my business has changed since we opened a shop and I'm no longer doing the amount of field work I used to do so I've decided to sell it and work from a smaller vehicle (F-150). The condition of the van is very good. Not perfect, but probably closer to it than anything else I've seen used for sale with half the miles. Everything works as it should and anything needing attention got it. The van was washed regularly and garage kept. My customers frequently asked if it was a new one. The pictures don't do it justice and I'm the type to under promise and over deliver. I have kept all the records for service. Oil changes were done every 10k as recommended and only Mercedes Mobil 1 ESP recommended oil was used, The transmission fluid was replaced at 60k. Fuel and air filters were replaced as scheduled. I performed much of the maintenance work myself (oil & filter changes) and the Mercedes dealer in Fayetteville took care of the more intensive services. The van has been very reliable outside of a minor power steering leak (loose fitting), an EGR temp sensor and a bad glow plug (all were replaced). Now for the ugly part... I was rear ended a few months ago. Stopped at a light and wham... an unlicensed driver hit us from behind. $4,000 in damage and a week plus out of service for repairs. The rear step bumper was bent under and some body damage was done behind the plastic trim. I had everything so much as scratched replaced and the bottom of the rear doors were repainted. The body shop did a really good job and it looks good again. I've included a few pictures I took the day after the wreck. Moving on to the options. I had the window sticker scanned and saved on a computer that died so I'm going to try to list everything based on memory in order of favorites. There may be more items than mentioned. Suspension seats. They are adjustable to your weight and remove any feeling from road imperfections. They are also heated and have comfort headrests and armrests. Bi-Xenon lights. Awesome. They are self leveling from a sensor on the rear axle and have washers that spray them clean with windshield. Rain sensing wipers. Adjusts intermittent windshield wiper time and speed. Kenwood Excelon DNX6990HD radio with Garmin Navigation, HD radio, Bluetooth, DVD, iPod, backup camera and everything else. Has the steering wheel control interface too. Deluxe instrumentation with information display - shows tire pressure, service intervals etc. Graphite gray metallic paint. Fog lights Suspension: Heavy duty front spring, Rear stabiliser bar. Lighting package - overhead console/map lights. Perimeter lighting with remote. 3.92 axle 16" Alloy wheels 220 amp alternator Electric heater booster Roof rails Side curtain airbags 2 additional keys (4 total) Sliding door stop holds door at half open. Power windows, locks, mirrors Rear window and side mirror defrost. The van will be sold with the original radio, touch-up paint and any remaining service parts I have. I'm listing it with a buy it now and low reserve. I can pick up the buyer at RDU airport and will assist with delivery if needed. I can be reached at 9197404141 for any questions. |

Vin Diesel reveals first poster for Furious 8
Wed, Apr 20 2016Vin Diesel unveiled the first poster for Furious 8. The image shows Dom standing on a deserted road with his Dodge Charger with the tagline: "New roads ahead." Diesel's post doesn't offer any other new details about the much-anticipated action film, which is still a year away from theaters. While this image is teasing, we continue to get a better idea of Furious 8's cast. Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's son, has a prominent role in the film, and Charlize Theron plays a villain. Dwayne Johnson also confirmed his return as Hobbs. Plot details still vague, though. An earlier teaser from Diesel hinted that some of the movie might take place in Manhattan, which could be an amazing setting for automotive stunts. The crew has also been filming north of Reykjavik, Iceland, which would be a great locale for off-road action. Furious 8 will hit theaters on April 14, 2017. According to Diesel, part 9 will arrive on April 19, 2019, and Fast & Furious 10 will potentially end the main franchise on April 2, 2021. This content is hosted by a third party. Trump tells Detroit 3 CEOs he wants more US jobs, calls environmentalists 'out of control'
Tue, Jan 24 2017As expected, President Donald J. Trump met with top executives from FCA, Ford, and General Motors this morning as part of a larger push to generate jobs in America. "I want new plants to be built here for cars sold here!", Trump said in a tweet ahead of the meeting. Not everything said in the meeting was made public, but the President later tweeted that he had a "Great meeting with automobile industry leaders." FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, Ford chief Mark Fields, and GM's Mary Barra all echoed the positive vibes after the meeting. In a statement, Barra called the discussion "very constructive and wide-ranging," adding that it focused on "policies that support a strong and competitive economy and auto industry," and "that supports the environment and safety." That's noteworthy, because Trump is reported to have said "I am to a large extent an environmentalist. I believe in it, but it's out of control." Fields, speaking to reporters after the meeting, said, "We're excited about working together with the president and his administration on tax policies, on regulation and on trade to really create a renaissance in American manufacturing." The Ford CEO was specifically talking about Trump's withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. "We've repeatedly said that the mother of all trade barriers is currency manipulation, and TPP failed in meaningfully dealing with that, and we appreciate the president's courage to walk away from a bad trade deal," he said. Marchionne focused on American manufacturing in his statement after the meeting. "I appreciate the President's focus on making the US a great place to do business. We look forward to working with President Trump and members of Congress to strengthen American manufacturing." Perhaps equally as interesting as what was said and who was invited are what wasn't said and who wasn't invited. Trump has been very vocal about his distaste for US automakers' plants in Mexico, but no mention was made of the North American Free Trade Agreement by Trump or any of the Detroit CEOs after the meeting. We also have to wonder if Trump plans to meet with representatives from German, Japanese, and Korean automakers that have made massive investments into American plants and produce a large number of cars in this country. Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
