I have owned the car for about ten years.  Car has very high freeway miles and needs a full restoration.  The car has numerous small rattles and other problems.  I have been using it for my daily driver for three years now.  I have bought a newer daily driver and need to clear driveway space.  There is no rust on the car, even by the parking brake cable.  It has also never been into an accident.  The car does run and drive.  I have a clear California title in my name.  It is currently registered as non-operational and there are no back due DMV fees.  The person I bought it from related to me in essence that he and his wife bought the car from a used car lot in the early 1990’s.  He also used the car for daily transportation and had to sell it due to divorce.   I can help with transportation (drop off at shipping company ect) and test drives are welcome but the car will remain with me until full payment is cleared.  Car is located in southern California.  Full payment due in thirty days.  Car must be gone in 45 days.  Again, the car really needs a full restoration.  I have about 100 more pictures (including underside) send your email address and will I send them to you.  The car is being sold as is with no warranty.  The vehicle is also being sold where it is.  If you have any specific picture requests just send them to me.    I am available most days and weekends.  If you need to speak with me please send me a message.  Just to make it clear the car has very high miles and needs a total restoration.

ENGINE:  It currently has a 2.5l turbo common block bottom end.  The balance shafts have been removed and the oil feed hole plugged.  The engine does not make any knocking noise.  This engine was installed about 50,000 miles ago.  A new oil pump was installed when the motor was put in.  The cylinder head is a later style turbo cylinder head.  It has the original VNT/T2 intake manifold.  It has a later T2 exhaust manifold and an 89 spec T2 turbo.  The turbo has around 50,000 miles on it.  There are stainless steel oil/coolant lines for the turbo.  The VNT wiring harness is still in the car.  It is running a 1990 turbo 2.5l SBEC.  The check engine light is on due to the lack of an EGR valve.  It has a new larger V6 radiator installed about 20,000 miles ago.  There is also a large front mount intercooler on the car.  There is 2.5 inch aluminum intercooler plumbing and a Bosch BOV.  The car uses a stock SRT-4 air filter.  The car body was not cut to fit the intercooler or plumbing.  The AC system (when installed) did fit with the intercooler and plumbing.  Boost is controlled with a Grainger valve (does overboost on occasions).  I do not have the original block or cylinder head.  I do have the VNT turbo (might be able to rebuild but consider as a core only), VNT SBEC, and VNT solenoids.  There is a  92 turbo roller cam installed.   There are polybushings.com front and right side motor mounts installed.  It does have a Shelby valve cover, but I believe it is an early two piece design.

EXHAUST:  I got the car with a 2 1/2 ” cat back system installed.  Has a stainless steel Magnaflow muffler.  Also has a working Mopar catalytic converter.  The original 2 1/2 ” downpipe is still installed.  The exhaust system is quiet but does have some rattles.

TRANSMISSION:  When I bought the car it had a non original early A555 installed.  I rebuilt the A555 30,000 miles ago.  All bearings, races, snap rings, and oil feeder were replaced.  I replaced all of the shift fork pads that I could get (four I think).  I also replaced all of the seals during the rebuild.  It does have an early four pinion differential.  The transmission was rebuilt because the main shaft started to deteriorate (very common problem on 555 transmissions).  To solve this problem the main shaft was turned and a sleeve was installed.  A drain plug was also installed.  It currently has production Spirit R/T axles that make no noise and do not have torn C/V boots.

SUSPENSION:  I installed Gabriel struts and KYB shocks about 65,000 miles ago.  No better shocks or struts were available.  It does have polybushings.com front sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, upper and lower rear spring perch pads.  The car still has the original Shelby springs.

BRAKES/WHEELS:  Still has the Shelby four wheel disc brake setup installed.  There are Porterfield R4S front brake pads and Porterfield brand front rotors installed.  It has OEM replacement rear pads and rotors.  A complete (six) set of stainless steel brake lines from FWD performance are installed.  I replaced the rear wheel bearing (inner and outer) and races 30,000 miles ago.  I also replaced the entire front wheel hubs/bearings at the same time.  The car needs a new parking brake rear cable installed.  I got the rims from another car that was parted out a few years ago and do not know the brand.  It does have the correct size hub rings and Motegi locking lug nuts (I have the key).  They do have some road asphalt on them and it doesn’t seem to affect the balance.  The tires have about 40% tread left and are not cracked or repaired.  Tire size is 225/45/17.

EXTERIOR:  The paint on the car is really bad.  It was repainted about five years ago by a paint shop in Fallbrook.  PPG paint was used but I think the red primer caused the problems.  I never cared as it didn’t cost very much money and was a lot better looking then before.  The clear coat was never able to be buffed out.  I would plan on a repaint.  Again the paint is really bad.  There are road chips and several parking lot dings in doors.  The headlights were replaced after the paint job and I have two extra sets.  There is a small dent below the left rear tail light assembly.  I do not have the replacement decals.  I do have the rear CS emblem but did not reinstall it because I didn’t want it to get stolen.  I also have the front ground effects/ air dam but it needs to be repaired and painted.  It was installed painted with the car and one additional time.  The air dam hangs really low and hits on every driveway or any road debris so I just left it off the last time it got damaged.  It is the original front air dam.  All of the other ground effects are installed and are the original ones.  It still has the Shelby grille.  The car will also need a new driver’s side door and door hinge assembly.  All of the window trim is present but it is old and cracking.  The windshield was replaced at the same time as the paint job but not has a crack.  Both under hood Shelby tags are present and match the VIN for the car.  The rear spoiler is on the care but has a crack.

INTERIOR:  The Shelby interior is still in the car.  The driver’s seat is very worn.  The rear seat and passenger seat are in OK condition.  It has the Shelby sill tags and the CSX interior tag.  I don’t have the Shelby dash plaque.  The person I bought the car from related that it wasn’t there when he got the car either.  The Shelby steering wheel is still in the car but the leather needs to be recovered.  The Shelby horn button is also present.  The Shelby boost gauge is also installed and working.  There is a CD player installed.  I also have the original am/fm radio.  The previous owner installed the black carpet and redid the headliner.  The headliner needs to be redone.  The air conditioning is not installed.  I do have a compressor and lines but no condenser.  The evaporator also should be replaced.  The driver’s side window does not roll down because of the door.  All of the gauges are working.

Mopar '13 Dart is a bruiser of a compact

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

For the fourth year in a row, Mopar is offering a limited-production car decked with a plenty of add-ons and a unique look. This year's black-and-blue car is the Mopar '13 Dart, which was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show with the now-signature paint scheme. Like previous Mopar models, only 500 of the '13 Darts will be built. Past models include the Mopar '10 Challenger, Mopar '11 Charger and the Mopar '12 300.
The all-black Dart gets a brightly contrasting, offset blue stripe running the full length of the car, and other styling mods like the aero-tuned body kit, gloss black grille, wheels and mirror caps. Curiously, Mopar chose to stick with the Dart's standard headlights rather than the darker, smoked lights. The interior gets a similar black-and-blue treatment, but this unique cabin features a blue leather driver's seat to go along with the black leather seating for the rest of the passengers.
More than just a styling package, the Mopar '13 Dart also gets some performance and handling goodies to complement the Dart's turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, such as upgraded brakes with slotted rotors, a lowered suspension, retuned electric power steering and a "sport-tuned" exhaust system.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat revving is sonic bacon

Fri, 23 May 2014

This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and we're sure that by now, you know its stats, including over 600 horsepower from its 6.2-liter, supercharged V8. What, pray tell, does that blown engine sound like, though?
At least judging on the sonic strength of this video, it's very, very dirty. Honestly, it sounds unlike anything that's come out of the Chrysler Group in a long time, if ever. It's loud, almost brutally so, with a bark that few road-going V8s can match.
Of course, you should be the final judge here. Take a look and a listen at the two videos below, one of which comes from our friends at Cars.com that provides a nice look under the hood, and then let us know what you think of the Hellcat's singing voice in Comments.
