1975 Dodge 4x4 Van on 2040-cars
Patterson, California, United States
1975 Dodge Tradesman 200 3/4 ton Van converted to four wheel drive. Dodge 318 V8 engine and 727 transmission were rebuilt many years ago but have less than 15,000 miles on them. Starter, alternator, fuel pump, and water pump were replaced then and a new carb and distributor was installed some years ago. NP 203 transfer case is full time four wheel drive and has a lo range. Dodge 9 1/4 rear end and Dana 44 front end that has the large wheel bearings serviced last year and new drilled slotted rotors installed then. It has an aluminum radiator and the heater core has been replaced as well. BF Goodrich tires only have a few thousand miles on them and are like new. It has a full size spare mounted on the same modern Dodge wheels all around. Large bumpers, 2'' receiver, fog, driving, and new headlights round out the exterior. Has duel batteries, 10 gallon water tank, swamp cooler, 12v outlets, fluorescent lights, 4 pin trailer wiring, CD stereo, CB radio. Captains chairs and fold down rear seat. Seat belts only in front. Heater and all lights work. This thing came from Idaho I think and it has some rust. The 4x4 shop I got this thing from 20+ tears ago had replaced doors, part of the roof and who knows what. The foot well vents are rotted out and let a lot of air in. I just worked with what was left and it is coming back. The wind and running noise at freeway speed is pretty loud and the motor while it runs well enough doesn't have a lot of power. The speedometer reads 10 mph slower than actual speed and the mileage is also. I don't know what the actual miles are as it is now almost 40 years old. Smog is not required in CA for this vehicle. Smoke free. I have been moving this past year and have been driving 208 miles round trip with it and not had any trouble. This thing is tall and don't think it will ship on most carriers. If you are interested then ask questions.

Chrysler minivans under investigation for stalling after fuel refill
Wed, 10 Sep 2014According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least one man has reported that his 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled unexpectedly on the highway shortly after being refueled. The unidentified man who contacted NHTSA regarding the issue cited as many as eight similar instances reported by other drivers.
NHTSA has announced that it will launch an inquiry into this issue, which could affect as many as 160,000 minivans from Dodge and Chrysler that were sold in 2007 (or more, if a problem is found that extends to additional models years, we'd assume). As of yet, there's no formal investigation, let alone a recall, on these vans, as the agency is merely determining if further action is needed.
Two months ago, Chrysler recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles, the majority of which were minivans, from the 2008-2010 model years to replace ignition switches after an investigation found that their weak springs and detent positions could fool a driver into thinking the car was in the "Run" position, when it's actually in the "Accessory" position.
1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup
Fri, 18 Jul 2014Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
