Up for sale is our 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Diesel 4x4 truck in excellent condition. Automatic transmission is perfect and was rebuilt at 110k. 169k original miles. Clear title-no accidents. Short bed. This car is very sound mechanically and has been well taken care of. $5300 in receipts from this year alone in maintenance, brakes..etc. too many items to list. New Goodyear AT tires. This vehicle is loaded with tow package, power windows and locks, electronic brakes, CD, power windows-locks-mirrors-cruise. Spray in bedliner. 4x4 hasn't been used much but is in good working condition. Interior-headliner-seats-carpets in good shape. Exterior is awesome. We are the 2nd owners and purchased the truck for the expressed purpose to tow an Airstream trailer that we purchased home across a 7 state area. Although it wasn't a heavy tow (2200 lbs), it ran and towed flawlessly.
The paint shines well, the chrome and stainless shows well. The headliner is in great condition. The carpet is not faded, and is in excellent condition. The overall condition is excellent. The dash has a few common cracks, as evidenced by the pictures. The A/C system is in excellent working condition. The heat works well. The car is in great shape. It is 14 years old, but it is difficult to imagine another '99 in this kind of condition. It is a car that is in very good condition that is meant to drive. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so bid to win! $1500 non-refundable deposit due with in 48 hours of the close of the auction. Paypal is acceptable for the deposit. Cash, certified check of wire transfer for the balance is due with in 7 days of the close of the auction. Paypal may be used for the final payment IF the buyer is willing to pay Paypal fees. Sold as is. The vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell it outside of the auction. I have the title in hand. Call or email with questions: 858-353-9959 Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. On Dec-09-13 at 18:35:18 PST, seller added the following information: FYI---this does not have the '53' block. Also-I wanted to give more specific information as to the maintenance that has been done on this truck this year. As stated-when we purchased this vehicle we needed a truck that we had 100% confidence in mechanically. This truck ended up being flawless. The previous owner had decided to open a business where this truck was used daily, so paid to have many new parts put in and upgrade many parts so that it would perform as a new truck. The business didn't happen, so he sold the truck to me. New this year: Steering gear box, power steering pressure hose, ps return hose, new hitch wiring, pressure sensor, position sensor, centric brake pads, steering damper, front shocks, rear shocks, front Moog ball joints, front Moog control arms, Timken wheel bearings and hub assemblies, rotors, Wix air & fuel filters, caliper brakes. The total for this work was $3,000/ I have receipts. New Goodyear All Terrain tires-$800. I don't have the receipt. I got the truck home and wanted to keep it. Mechanically was better than I could have hoped for, but exterior wise it looked like the 14 year old truck that it was. I had it painted by a quality local body shop with OEM factory paint. $2300/I have the receipt. Then my daughter's wedding bills hit…I couldn't keep the truck. Hence the auction! Good luck with your bidding. On Dec-13-13 at 16:47:01 PST, seller added the following information: I noticed a small leak in the brake line so I had both lines replaced. The vehicle sat for 3 weeks or so and the batteries were weak (when I got it back after paint). I had both batteries tested, and they were not in good shape. I had 2 new Interstate batteries installed. The bill was $500 for all of the testing and work. |

Could self-driving cars stop terrorist attacks?
Mon, Nov 13 2017Terrorists have taken to using a weapon that's easy to obtain and can do a lot of damage: ordinary vehicles, driven into crowds. A Department of Homeland Security-FBI bulletin from 2012 warned that "vehicle-ramming offers terrorists with limited access to explosives or weapons an opportunity to conduct a homeland attack with minimal prior training or experience." CNN recently listed nine vehicle-based terrorist attacks that have occurred within the past year, and in just in the past three months incidents in New York, Edmonton and Barcelona have claimed more than 20 lives and injured dozens after ISIS-affiliated drivers plowed into pedestrians. The deadliest so far was a Bastille Day attack in Nice, France that killed 86 people after a terrorist drove a truck into a crowd following a fireworks display. CNN also reported that "Al Qaeda's Yemeni branch encouraged its recruits in the West to use trucks as weapons," and noted that a 2010 article in the terrorist group's webzine called for deploying a truck as a "mowing machine, not to mow grass but mow down the enemies of Allah." Such attacks have been more common in Europe and other places where guns are harder to get, making vehicles violent and readily available weapons. But it's not only ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorists that have turned cars into weapons. A man with white nationalist ties drove a Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counter-protesters at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va., in August, killing a 32-year-old woman and injuring dozens more. Some believe that autonomous vehicle technology could help stop these tragedies. "Terrorist attacks like the one in New York are a good example of why we need AVs more quickly," Caleb Watney, technology policy associate at the R Street Institute, a D.C.-based think tank, recently told the website Inverse. Dr. Junfeng Jiao, director of the Urban Information Lab at the University of Texas, told Inverse that "these tragedies may be taken into account by the makers such as Tesla and Google" when developing autonomous technology. "This is a huge opportunity for the next generation to de-weaponize cars," he added. Many vehicles already have forward collision warning with emergency autonomous braking, and a few combine it with pedestrian detection, although the latter technology typically works at speeds below 20 mph.
John Schneider's General Lee Dodge Charger up for auction
Thu, Jun 25 2015Over 150 years after it was first adopted, the Confederate flag is disappearing from license plates, state-legislature flagpoles, and even toy cars across the American South. While some are ready to bury those Stars and Bars forever as a symbol of racism and slavery, others will miss them as an emblem of freedom. Regardless of where you stand, the emergence of this particular vehicle on the auction block couldn't have come at a more poignant time. It's a 1969 Dodge Charger, and as you can see it's been done up just like the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. While it may not be one of the cars used in the original television series, it's not without its provenance. The vehicle is the last of four that were customized by John Schneider, the actor who – long after the rebel flag ceases to fly – will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Bo Duke on that timeless television show. It's painted orange, emblazoned with the number 01 on the doors, the words "Bo's General Lee" above each window, and that controversial flag on the roof. It also features signatures and messages inscribed by Schneider, as well as by Sonny Shroyer (who played Deputy Enos Strate on the show), and by sportscaster and former pro basketball player Jalen Rose who once owned the car. It appeared alongside Schneider in commercials and films, and in the pages of the Mopar Collector's Guide. Now it's set to be sold off to the highest bidder this weekend by Invaluable Auctions and Julien's Auctions, where it's expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000 – assuming the latest controversies don't hinder its chances.
SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models
Fri, 07 Feb 2014With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
