Selling our pickup due to possible relocation overseas
Has been reliably used for two functions for the last few years.
1. Hauling anything and everything from Home Depot or Lowes to our house.
2. Hauling anything and everything from our house to the local dump
We purchased the truck up in MA (on Ebay) specifically to cut down on costs of renting a dumpster or paying for material delivery during the last few years of construction on our house.
The truck is reliable, starts up after a couple of pumps of the gas pedal and has a very new battery (last year) to make sure there is plenty of cranking power.
The rear leaf spring supports have been professionally replaced, as have the power steering hoses. We also had some electrical issues resolved after we purchased it.
The engine does not burn any oil, and oil is changed once a year since we only drive a couple of hundred miles locally each year.
The truck was recently inspected and did not require any repairs but there was a recommendation of new tires soon.
Since the inspection we have a new crack in the windshield a few inches long from a stone chip, will need to be replaced next year before inspection.
The body is not in the best of shape, at some point someone re-sprayed the roof and hood and its looking pretty bad with a light haze of surface rust coming through. Its looked like this since we bought it and does not appear to be getting worse. Since its from further up north there is probably more corrosion underneath and on the wheel arches than you would typically find in New York.
We did not buy the truck for appearances, just for functionality.
Since then we have added some dings, dents, scratches and a nasty bash in the side from a gas station barrier (see picture) but none affect the functionality of the truck.
The A/C has not worked since we have owned it, the radio is terrible with a buzzy speaker so bring your own ipod. On a positive note there is a dual cup holder that can hold fairly big drinks and a nice big arm rest.
There is no rear bumper, its not required for inspection and was absent when we purchased it.
If you are looking for a functional and reliable truck with a FULL 8 FOOT BED with hard wearing bed liner then this is the truck for you, it has saved us thousands of dollars in dumpster fees and delivery fees and paid for itself 5 time over.
If you are looking for a fixer upper to re-spray then this is not for you, its all about functionality and not looks.
EDIT: Additional note, the carfax thing seems to have an accident reported incorrectly. The truck has never left Long Island since we registered it in mid 2007 so its obviously incorrect and has not been in an accident. Its never been to Wallingford, CT.

2013 Dodge Dart gets all Moparized
Fri, 08 Feb 2013Last year, Chrysler announced it would be offering more than 150 Mopar parts and accessories on the 2013 Dodge Dart, and we got a look at some of these parts firsthand at the Chicago Auto Show. Showing off all the optional parts at once would surely create a gaudy monstrosity, so Chrysler chose to equip this particular Dart GT with just a handful of Mopar goodies, which still gave the car a nice and tasteful custom look that is available straight from the dealership (and with a full warranty, too).
Decked out in a factory color called Header Orange Clear Coat - also a very appropriate show car hue - this car added exterior styling parts such as the vented, carbon fiber hood, the bolt-on front chin spoiler and a matte black decklid spoiler. Looking inside the car, you'd think the red-accented interior is part of the Mopar parts bin, too, but this is actually what the standard Dart GT cabin will look like when it goes on sale.
Hackers stole Jeeps in Texas using FCA's internal dealer software
Fri, Aug 5 2016This article has been updated with details on how the thefts were carried out, and with comments from FCA. It seems the news regarding vehicle hacking continues to get worse, especially when it comes to products from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Last year, a Jeep Cherokee in St. Louis, Missouri, was wirelessly hacked from Pittsburgh. Nissan had to shut down its Leaf app because of vulnerabilities. Now, a pair of hackers in Houston, Texas, stole more than 30 Jeeps over a six-month period. The two were arrested by police last Friday while attempting to steal another vehicle. ABC 13 in Houston reports that police had been following Michael Arcee and Jesse Zelay for several months but were unable to catch them in the act until now. The two were using a laptop to connect to and start a vehicle. The thieves were able to access Fiat Chrysler's own DealerCONNECT software. After entering the vehicle identification number, the hackers were able to reprogram the cars' security systems to accept a generic key, according to The Houston Chronicle. Additionally, Automotive News reports that FCA subsequently updated the terms of use for its DealerCONNECT program. These thefts were not related to the UConnect remote hacks from last year. It was this footage that first led the police to Arcee and Zelay. The police began to follow and record the pair. That investigation eventually led to Friday's arrest. Both are charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. In addition, Arcee is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. According to ABC 13, Homeland Security is investigating more than 100 stolen FCA vehicles that they believe were hacked using this method. After their theft, the vehicles were brought across the border to Mexico. FCA is currently conducting an internal investigation into the matter. After this article was posted, the company reached out to Autoblog, stating "FCA US takes the safety and security of its customers seriously and incorporates security features in its vehicles that help to reduce the risk of unauthorized and unlawful access to vehicle systems and wireless communications. FCA US has been cooperating with Houston Police Department since they first started the investigation.
Cars.com runs 11-second quarter with Dodge Charger Hellcat
Mon, Jun 1 2015The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and its Challenger sibling are two of the heroes of the modern performance world. With a headline-grabbing 707 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, their output even shames many supercars. But how quick can one really cover a quarter mile? Cars.com recently decided to find out by taking a Charger Hellcat to the drag strip to see if the sedan lived up to Dodge's 11-second claims. The results were quite impressive. After 13 quarter-mile runs of adjusting variables like the tire pressures and the car's various electronic aids, the Charger Hellcat managed a pass in 11.03 seconds at 126.61 mph – the pinnacle result of the day. This car was mechanically stock and wore the optional Pirelli P Zero tires. According to Cars.com, other quick sprints reached 11.09 seconds and 11.1 seconds, which even beat the site's 11.41-second best from a Challenger Hellcat last year. Getting the Hellcat's prodigious power down without losing traction was a challenge, even on the summer tires. Cars.com thought it had a run that could have dropped below 11 seconds, but then the wheels spun. Using the factory-recommended pressures, the Charger Hellcat was no still slouch with an 11.27-second time recorded, but taking things down to 25 psi proved the quickest at the strip. We already knew that the Charger Hellcat was a wonderful vehicle for eating up huge gulps of asphalt at high speeds and could verify its 204-mile-per-hour top speed (quite a bit faster, incidentally, than the Ferrari California T's 196 mph top-speed). Apparently, the 11-second quarter-mile claim is just as accurate. Also, for any curious owners, the Cars.com story divulges many of the tweaks required to reach this seriously quick time.
