THIS AUCTION IS FOR A TOTALLY BADASS 1973 DODGE POWER WAGON 4X4. IT HAS 84,441 MILES AND RUNS GREAT. I WILL DO MY BEST TO LIST ALL THE FEATURES AS WELL AS THE DEFECTS. THE VAN HAS A BRAND NEW INTERIOR WITH WOOD PANELING ON THE WALLS AND CEILING AND GRAY CARPET ON THE FLOOR. IT HAS A BRAND NEW ROOF VENT. WE HAD THE 2 FRONT CABIN SEATS REUPHOLSTERED IN A DARK GREY CLOTH WITH BLACK VINYL FOLDING ARMRESTS. WE INSTALLED A BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD AND ALL OTHER GLASS IS GOOD EXCEPT THE RIGHT MIDDLE WINDOW WHICH IS TAPED UP. THIS WINDOW SHOULD BE VERY EASY AND CHEAP TO REPLACE. THE TIRES ARE 33 X 12.5 X R15 AND ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH A LOT OF TREAD. I HAD A LINE ON A SET OF 35'S WITH GREAT RUBBER FOR $200 SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT. THEY WILL TOTALLY FIT AND IT LOOKS PRETTY RAD WITH THE EXTRA 2" LIFT. THERE IS NO SPARE TIRE INCLUDED WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS A CUSTOM 8" LIFT AND HANDLES REALLY WELL. THE WHEELS ARE 15" EAGLE ALLOYS AND ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.THE VEHICLE HAS A TOW HITCH AND REAR LADDER.IT HAS DUAL EXHAUST AND SOUNDS REALLY GOOD. THE VAN HAS TWO FUEL TANKS WITH A SWITCH DOWN BY THE DRIVERS SEAT FOR THOSE REALLY LONG TRIPS. IT HAS STEEL HORSE SIDE-STEPS FOR BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER DOORS. THE VAN HAS A GT GRANT STEERING WHEEL. THERE IS NO RADIO INSTALLED BUT WE CAN THROW IN A LATE MODEL CD / STEREO. IT HAS A CUSTOM FRONT BUMPER / BRUSH GUARD WITH A WENCH AND KC LIGHTS AND A CUSTOME CHROME GRILLE. BOTH THE WENCH AND KC LIGHTS ARE IN WORKING CONDITION BUT THE WENCH NEEDS A BATTERY AND REMOTE AND THE KC LIGHTS NEED TO BE WIRED IN ( EVERYTHING IS THERE ). THE ENGINE IS A 360 CID / V8. IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. WE INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY AND HAD A BASIC SERVICE DONE ( OIL AND FILTER CHANGES, BRAKES, AND FLUIDS ) THIS THING RUNS GREAT AND IS SUPER FUN TO DRIVE.THE FEW MINOR ISSUES I FOUND WITH IT ARE THE RIGHT MIDDLE WINDOW LIKE I MENTIONED, SMALL CRACK IN LEFT BRAKELIGHT, THE REAR DOOR LOCK IS MISSING, AND AS OF RIGHT NOW THE DRIVERS DOOR ONLY OPENS FROM THE INSIDE. THIS ONLY STARTED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO SO I DON'T THINK ITS ANYTHING MAJOR. MAYBE A CLIP RATTLED LOOSE OR SOMETHING. IT DOES HAVE SOME RUST. MOSTLY SURFACE THROUGHOUT BUT SOME BAD SPOTS ON THE ROOF. WHEN WE WERE THINKING OF GOING FULL RESTO WITH THIS THING WE WERE GONNA HAVE THE ROOF CUT AND INSTALL ONE OF THOSE POP UP CAMPER TOPS. THAT WOULD SOLVE 99% OF THE PROBLEM BUT IF THATS NOT YOUR THING THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT RUST ABATEMENT GUYS AROUND. I THINK THATS EVERYTHING BUT I DO HAVE TO STATE VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS IS. IT IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY BUT WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO WORK WITH YOUR SHIPPING AGENT AND DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO HELP YOU OUT.THE VAN IS LOCATED IN CAMARILLO, CALIFORNIA 93012. PLEASE EMAIL ME THROUGH EBAY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE, HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR JUST WANT TO COME KICK THE TIRES. ALSO THIS VEHICLE NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE SMOGGED WHICH IS ALWAYS NICE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK AND GOOD LUCK.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.
Stellantis lays off salaried workers, cites uncertainty in EV transition
Sat, Mar 23 2024DETROIT — Jeep maker Stellantis is laying off about 400 white-collar workers in the U.S. as it deals with the transition from combustion engines to electric vehicles. The company formed in the 2021 merger between PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler said the workers are mainly in engineering, technology and software at the headquarters and technical center in Auburn Hills, Michigan, north of Detroit. Affected workers were notified starting Friday morning. “As the auto industry continues to face unprecedented uncertainties and heightened competitive pressures around the world, Stellantis continues to make the appropriate structural decisions across the enterprise to improve efficiency and optimize our cost structure,” the company said in a prepared statement Friday. The cuts, effective March 31, amount to about 2% of Stellantis' U.S. workforce in engineering, technology and software, the statement said. Workers will get a separation package and transition help, the company said. “While we understand this is difficult news, these actions will better align resources while preserving the critical skills needed to protect our competitive advantage as we remain laser focused on implementing our EV product offensive,” the statement said. CEO Carlos Tavares repeatedly has said that electric vehicles cost 40% more to make than those that run on gasoline, and that the company will have to cut costs to make EVs affordable for the middle class. He has said the company is continually looking for ways to be more efficient. U.S. electric vehicle sales grew 47% last year to a record 1.19 million as EV market share rose from 5.8% in 2022 to 7.6%. But sales growth slowed toward the end of the year. In December, they rose 34%. Stellantis plans to launch 18 new electric vehicles this year, eight of those in North America, increasing its global EV offerings by 60%. But Tavares told reporters during earnings calls last month that “the job is not done” until prices on electric vehicles come down to the level of combustion engines — something that Chinese manufacturers are already able to achieve through lower labor costs. “The Chinese offensive is possibly the biggest risk that companies like Tesla and ourselves are facing right now,Â’Â’ Tavares told reporters. “We have to work very, very hard to make sure that we bring out consumers better offerings than the Chinese.
Big rig gets blown over on Wyoming freeway, flattens police cruiser
Sun, Feb 12 2017A big rig navigating a stretch of windy Wyoming highway last week was blown over by high winds and landed on a Wyoming Highway Patrol cruiser. According to CBS News, three Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers responded to an accident along Interstate 80 near Elk Mountain on February 7. While the troopers were out of their cars assisting the crash victims, a white Volvo semi-truck lumbered up I-80 toward them. Wind gusts in that part of Wyoming were clocked in at up to 90 miles per hour on Tuesday, and one of them caught the semi as it neared the parked cruisers. Video from one of the cruiser's onboard cameras showed the big rig drift to the right as a big gust hit the trailer. Slowly, the whole rig tipped over and flattened one of the parked cruisers. The truck then slid a few feet on its side and came to a stop just aft of the cruiser. None of the troopers were injured in the incident, and two people in the truck came out of it unhurt as well. Patrol Lieutenant David Wagener told KGWN that that stretch of I-80 was closed on Tuesday to lightweight, high-profile vehicles. The truck driver was cited for the incident. High winds are no joke, and vehicles getting blown around or even clean off the road is a pretty common phenomenon. Way back in 2011, a truck got blown over in Utah. Then there was a train that got blown off a bridge in Louisiana in 2015.
