Up for Auction a very nice 1946 Dodge Power Wagon!!

This truck has a rebuilt flathead engine that runs excellent! Runs, Idles, and accelerates beautifully! Always Cranks up right away!

The transmission is non-synchronized four speed with a Granny low first gear. It shifts very smooth and all the gears operate exactly as they should.

This truck has an entire new braking system! New Master Cylinder! New inner and outer flex hoses! All new Pre-bent Steel Brake Lines! New Wheel Cylinders! New Brake Shoes!! Everything is new!!

The Hub/Drum assembly has been machine turned and has all new Right Sided Wheel Studs eliminating the original left sided reverse thread studs!

All four axel backplates including the rear axel housing were replaced because the brake cams were stripped out and the brake shoes clips were broke off preventing to brakes from working properly. The replacements are in terrific condition and now work properly.

All of the outer oil seals of the front axel have been replaced and has new brass bushings pressed in on both the axel and spindle side. The axel shafts are nice and snug like they should be!

The Rear axel has new inner and outer seals and gaskets.

All of the wheel bearings have been repacked with new axel grease and have new hub seals!

The front axel has brand new AVM Locking hubs! Very high quality and better mileage than the original setup, fastened with stainless steel nuts. Looks very nice!!

The tires are in pretty good condition overall the three of them have some cracking the tires but aren't in terrible shape!

All of the fluids have been changed in the Engine, Transmission, Transfer Case, and Both Front and Rear Axels.

Most of the electrical components work but could use some work to pass state inspection primarily the blinkers. The winning bidder will have an option to purchase a new 6 volt wiring harness from me built by Vintage Wiring of Maine for an additional $695 dollars. (I paid over a thousand for it) They are well worth the money!

The prior owner replaced the doors with blue ones because they were in better shape, I asked him and he no longer has the originals! But these are in terrific shape with next to no rust!

This truck is one of the most rust free unrestored trucks ive ever seen. Nowhere on the truck can i find any cancerous rust or rotted areas. Even between the bed and the cab is in good shape.

The bed rails do have some bends in them. The front drivers side in particular. Overall the bed is in good shape.

This truck still has the original wood underneath a piece of sheet metal bolted in the bed.

The running boards are in fair condition, the driver side is strait. The Passenger side has some dents which is pretty common for these trucks. All of the wood underneath is in good shape.

The front passenger fender is bent and dips down in the front. Also the front grill has some dents and bends in it.

The glass is in fair condition. The drivers side window has some cracks in it and the windshield has some cracks in it! The passenger side and rear have no cracks and are in excellent shape.

As far as the inside goes the upholstery on the seat is in pretty good condition.

The floorboards are in great shape with zero cancerous rust!

The transfer case levers work well and shift smoothly.

The gauges are pretty faded and could use restoration or replacement. I believe they all work, they move when the truck cranks up.

Truck probably needs vacuum wiper motors rebuilt or replaced with electric motors.

This truck has a fuel tank that appears to be home made but very similar to the original! I was impressed! Ive never used it out of concern for dirty fuel getting in the engine. Ive alway used a boat can as a fuel source (comes with the truck)

The winch works very well and has fairly new cable on it.

Overall this is a great truck! the First year of the Dodge Power Wagon and sure to appreciate in value over the coming years! Mechanically it runs like a dream!!  Please feel free to ask me any questions! The Truck is located In Midland, Texas. Feel free to come look at the truck in person before bidding! I reserve the right to end the auction anytime up until the completion of the sale.

Ram exec: first 30-mpg pickup truck will 'win'

Fri, Aug 8 2014

It is totally possible, today, to take the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel pickup truck, load it up with gear and people, and drive it from Texas to Michigan while getting 38 miles per gallon. We know because we did it. Officially, though, the 1500 gets just 20 mpg combined. A more impressive number is the 28 mpg on the highway. Bob Hegbloom, the Ram brand director, thinks that there's a more important fuel economy target to hit: 30 mpg. Whichever truck company can manage that feat, he recently told Automotive News, "wins." It's kind of an obvious thing to say, but in the 1500 with both the EcoDiesel and the V6 Pentastar engine, Hegbloom said, "fuel economy is so important." Hegbloom didn't promise that the next EcoDiesel truck will manage to get on up over the 30 hump, but he did say that Ram is not sitting still when it comes to fuel economy. "I just want to have continuous improvement and to keep gaining every day," he said. "We sat still in the past and it doesn't lead to a great place."

Only in Japan: Dodge van one-make racing series is a thing

Wed, Jul 15 2015

Japan seems willing to embrace a level of automotive insanity that many other places lack. Whether it's 1,200-horsepower Nissan GT-Rs blasting through tight, tree-lined mountain roads or advertisements with dances for the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the country definitely has a unique way of expressing a love for autos. The D-Van Grand Prix might be one of our favorite examples yet of crazy Japanese car culture, because the annual, one-make race at the Ebisu Circuit is exclusively for heavily customized Dodge vans. Like many great things, this wonderfully crazy idea came from a little rule breaking. D-Van Grand Prix organizer Takuro Abe was at a track event for a motorcycle racing school, and vans were used to haul the bikes around. During lunch someone came up with the idea for a race. Ignoring that the big machines weren't actually allowed on the circuit, the drivers headed out. The popularity has just grown since then. These days, the racing vans absolutely aren't the stock machines from the event's inspiration. In addition to stripped interiors and track rubber that you might expect, the list of mods for them is a mile long. For every possible advantage, the racers fit them with things like Brembo brakes, cross-drilled rotors, heavy-duty transmissions, and much more. Seeing vans lumbering around the track is very weird at first, but the racers take the competition very seriously. These folks even employ all sorts of little tricks to coax the most from the machines. This is a fascinating motorsports story, but be sure to turn on the subtitles to understand the interviews with the competitors.
