Beautifully Restored Dodge B3 C116 Pickup with Pilot House cab. This is the 3/4 ton model with longer 116" wheel base. Flathead six cylinder engine and 4 speed manual transmission. This truck was purchased on July 1, 1952 at Sidlow Motors in Dan Bruno California. The story told to me when I purchased it 2.5 years ago is that it was originally used as a grocery delivery vehicle in San Francisco Bay area and retired from use in the late 1960's with very few miles. The truck was then purchased by a gentleman who lovingly restored and maintained it over the next 40 or so years. When that owner passed away the truck was sold by his widow to a dealer and my father and I purchased the truck from him.
The first year that we had the truck it was received at much enthusiasm at the 2012 Art of the Car Concours in Kansas City, one of the more prestigious shows in the Midwest. We have continued to maintain the truck and make improvements as necessary. Minor leaks the engine block and rear end have been repaired. New rear brake lines and wheel cylinders. New radiator recently installed. New battery last year. The Pilot House pickup was considered to be a revolutionary design when it was first introduced in 1948. It offered a larger cab and greater visibility with its rear corner windows which had not previously been seen on either Ford or Chevy models. These trucks continue to have an avid group of enthusiasts. Still, this is not a truck that offers a lot of creature comforts by today's standards. The stock model like this one included no heater or radio and no revisions have been made to include those here. This truck has the original instrument cluster. Speedometer and ammeter work, temperature and fuel gauges do not. Windshield wipers and lights work. Truck is cold blooded but runs like a top when warmed up. A small amount of play in the steering is one issue that we have not addressed, but it is insignificant in my opinion. We looked at a lot of trucks before purchasing this one and I can tell you that it is a beautifully maintained piece of pickup truck history. If you have any questions that aren't answered in my description or the photos, please let me know. |

Dodge to sell off first Challenger SRT Hellcat for charity
Sun, 27 Jul 2014
Want to get your hands on a new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and can't wait to be the first to get one? Las Vegas will be the place to be on September 27. That's where Barrett-Jackson will auction off the very first example. And you'd better bring your checkbook, because the bidding is sure to be fierce with all the proceeds going to charity.
The supercharged Challenger with VIN 0001 has been hand-painted in Stryker Red (usually reserved for the Viper) and features special badging, documentation and accompanying memorabilia - not to mention, of course, that 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8. The car will be on display this weekend as well at Barrett-Jackson's Hot August Nights auction in Reno.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has 707 glorious horsepower [w/video]
Tue, 01 Jul 2014Hold onto your butts. "600-plus horsepower" is what we were told to expect from the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine. But as we've just learned, those were incredibly conservative numbers. Dodge has officially announced that the range-topping Challenger will hit the asphalt with 707 - seven hundred and seven - horsepower, making it the "most powerful muscle car ever."
Of course, 707 hp is only part of the story, as the Hellcat has also been confirmed to produce 650 pound-feet of torque. All that power will run exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that differs from other Challengers. The new gearbox, 8HP90 (rather than the 8HP70) is "upgraded to handle the extra power and torque," says Dan Reid, SRT's manager of product design and motorsports.
We certainly hope you're prepared to spend a ton of money replacing tires.
Chrysler recalling 780k minivans over fire risk
Fri, 09 May 2014Chrysler is recalling 780,000 of its Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2010 to 2014 model years due to the possibility of circuits overheating, which can lead to a fire. Of the 780,000 total vans being recalled, Chrysler estimates that 644,850 are in the US, 106,980 are in Canada, 8,009 are in Mexico, and 20,638 are in other markets. All of the affected vehicles were built between August 25, 2010 and October 31, 2013.
Chrysler's engineers discovered that beverage spills or exposure to moisture (from rain, snow, car washes, and the like) were linked to circuits shorting in the window switch assembly. Short circuits can overheat, and thus, cause a fire.
Chrysler will contact owners and let them know when they may schedule service, at which point, the window switches will be replaced. In the interim, the automaker says that owners may visit their dealers after May 14 to have the switches disconnected.
