1946 Dodge Truck 1/2 Ton / Restore-able Condition 68 Yrs Old on 2040-cars

Year:1946 Mileage:1
Location:

Hartford City, Indiana, United States

Restore-able Condition! Truck is about 98% complete of original parts. I regret selling this truck after owning it since 1970. I have recently retired and don't have the finances nor desire to put it back on the road. If this truck was restored properly, it would be worth about $15,000.00.
It has the original flat head 6, with new spark plugs. Most trucks that you see for sale on Ebay are missing or have replacement parts. This truck is about 98% original. The brass topped honey combed radiator is original, as well as the carburetor, oil bath breather, trumpet horn (still works), oil filter canister. The body is in pretty good condition considering the truck is almost 70 years old! It has dents, dings and a few rust holes in it. Please refer to pictures, as I have tried to show the flaws and things that will have to be dealt with. The windshield was replaced in the 80's and  the glass is in great condition. Both side doors however are cracked and need replaced. The cab is in pretty good shape with the exception to an area above the windshield, that is rusted. (see pictures). Wooden 2 piece floorboard has been replaced. Original heater used to work (paper duct tubes are rotted away). Bench seat needs repair and is missing a lot of horse hair on the drivers area. Springs are still good. Truck bed has a 1/8 " steel plate spot welded in. To my surprise, looking from under the truck, the original wooden bed still seems to be good! The tailgate is bolted in place. The drive train is all original, Clutch, Pressure Plate, Throw-out Bearing, Propeller Drive Shaft (needs leather boots), 3 Speed Transmission all good. The left headlight bowl has been replaced with a slightly smaller one (I have the matching smaller bowl that will go with the truck). I also have an original Dodge Shop Repair Manual that I will go with the truck. (This manual covers practically everything, even adjusting the pitch of the sound of the horn).
This truck presently DOES NOT RUN. It has compression, spark to the points, new spark plugs, but probably needs new plug wires?
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Good Luck, Happy Bidding

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

Chrysler readying 20 Moparized vehicles for SEMA

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

The Las Vegas Convention Center has plenty of space for aftermarket companies and automakers to show off their wares, and it looks like Chrysler is taking advantage of the spacious floor plan. At next month's SEMA Show, Chrysler will have a full 20 cars from its six brands decked out with Mopar gear.
As a hint of what is to come, Chrysler released a handful of teaser sketches showing glimpses of modified Jeep Cherokee, Ram 1500, Fiat 500L and Chrysler 300 concept vehicles. The automaker will also use the venue to show off a new line of Jeep Performance Parts offered by the all-new Mopar Off-Road Division. In addition to the images, Chrysler also issued a brief press release - posted below - breaking down some of the "industry-first features" that Mopar has offered in recent years.

Dodge gives 2015 Viper slight power increase, new GT model

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

With its troubling sales figures, the newly rechristened SRT Dodge Viper needs to come out swinging for 2015. To do that, Dodge has made a number of tweaks and changes that will hopefully carry the V10-powered sports car into more successful days.
First up for 2015 is a new GT model, which aims to marry the reasonable price of the base car with the adjustable suspension and trick stability control program of the GTS model. The GT also sports a cabin that's covered in Alcantara suede and Nappa leather as standard.
Also new for 2015 is the SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition, which expands on last year's Viper TA by adding new aerodynamic bits and bobs, including a larger rear wing, which ups downforce at 150 miles per hour from 278 pounds to 400 pounds.
