If you are looking for bang for your buck this is your car. It is a highly modified 1998 Dodge Neon R/T that is the ultimate sleeper. Set up to be a drag car, this car can be very fast in a straight line. The best time-slip I have for this car is from Bandimere Speedway in Denver (5,800 ft elevation), where it ran a 12.479 sec quarter mile at 114 mph. This car has over $20k invested in it, but due to moving and a lack of time I need to part with it. My loss is your gain!

Engine Management:
- RS Autosport Super420A Mega Squirt MSII standalone engine management system.
- Wideband 02 installed
- MSII Boost Control (currently not tuned)
- Includes MSI Wind Netbook computer and current engine maps. There is a mounting in the car for the laptop, which can function as a digital dashboard as well as performing data-logging and auto-tune functions.
- The car has been completely re-wired and the stock computer has been removed. The headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals are all functional. The cooling fan is on a manual switch for track purposes. Wiring diagrams will be included.
- Battery is re-located to under the passenger side front fender with a disconnect switch in the cabin.
Interior:
- 5" Tach and programmable digital shift-light
- Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure, Boost/Vac, and AFR gauges
- Stock gauges DO NOT WORK. With the exception of the speedometer all gauges can be replicated on the laptop digital dashboard. With the proper sender the digital dash can also display the speedometer. This sender is not installed or included.
- The interior is completely stripped for drag use. Both front seats are included, but the passenger side seat belt is not.
- The dash is a shell, and conceals the ECU mount and wiring.
Exterior:
- Stock black paint with R/T silver racing stripes
- "Speed Holes" in rear bumper (intended to vent air from rear bumper at high speed on the drag strip, eliminating the "parachute effect" over 100mph)
- Paint is okay for a 1998 car. It has been treated as a race car, not a show car, so it is far from perfect.
Problems:
- The car CANNOT be registered in any counties that require emissions testing. It has no emissions equipment, and no longer has the OBDII computer that is required for an emissions test. It is being sold as an off-road vehicle only. It was registered in Montana where there is no emissions testing.
- The aluminum oil pan has a small leak.
- There is no A/C, heat, or power-steering. This has been used as a drag car, and all extraneous systems have been removed.
- The currently installed Innovate LC-1 wideband oxygen sensor and controller is finicky. I have intended to replace it with a PLX DM-6 SM-AFR kit. This is a more reliable set-up. I can purchase and install this at an additional cost if requested.
- The car is no longer OBDII compatible and does not have a catalytic converter. It is being sold as an off-road vehicle, and it WILL NOT pass an emissions test due the above.
- The car needs to be tuned. It currently idles, runs, drives, and the MSII has been tuned for up to 8 psi of boost. Due to time constraints and lack of track access I have not tuned it beyond this threshold. It will require some time and tuning by the new owner to reach it's full potential. Before the the MSII install the car has run up to 25psi of boost.
- THIS CAR IS SOLD AS IS, and no warranty is implied.
Overall this is a great starting point for someone who wants a fast project car for a very low cost. All of the mechanical parts are in great working order, and the wiring is all in place. All that you will need to do is spend some time with the car on the street/track and tune it to your liking. This car is the ultimate sleeper, and will be great fun for the next owner. It is also a steal, as over $20K has been put into the car!

Dodge launches 1 of 1 Viper configurator
Fri, Apr 17 2015Get comfortable because you might be spending a good chunk of time in front of the computer on this. The configurator for the 2015 Dodge Viper GTC 1 of 1 is now online, and it's a ton of fun to play around with. Mechanically, the GTC is just like every current Viper with a 645-horsepower, 8.4-liter V10. But for the special editions Dodge lets buyers tinker with practically everything aesthetic thing. For the exterior alone, the choices include some 8,000 available body colors, two stripe styles in innumerable shades, two hood designs and various brake caliper hues. Plus, there are 16 upholstery colors inside, and options like red seat belts and carbon fiber trim. Dodge reckons there are over 25 million possible combinations, and the models are available to customers on a first-come-first serve basis for each model year. Although, two people wanting identical cars seems pretty unlikely. The configurator is a beauty too. It makes all of these myriad options extremely easy to pick from, and there are even four resolution settings to see your creation in the best possible way. Prices for the GTC start at $94,995 and deliveries are set to start in the second quarter of the year. Although, even if you have no intention of buying one, specifying these custom coupes is still highly entertaining.
This or That: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 vs. 2005 Subaru WRX STI [w/poll]
Thu, May 7 2015Some cars, due to ultimate desirability, particular rareness, or spectacular performance/prestige eventually become collectible. It's darn near impossible to know which ones will make it into the rarefied stratosphere of collectibility – why is a late 1960s AMC AMX so affordable these days, whereas prices for late '70s Pontiac Trans Ams are soaring? – but there are some useful indicators to keep tabs on. We're not exactly experts on investing, but we do know cars. As such, we've decided to take our non-expertise on one hand, combine it in the other with our knowledge of all things automotive, wad it up, throw it out and ask for your forgiveness. Or something like that. I've challenged Senior Editor Seyth Miersma to choose a car he thinks will become a future collector's item that's not more than 10 years old, and for no more than $25,000. I've done the same, and we vigorously argued for and against each other's picks. I feel good about my choice, but I don't have the best track record in these contests (I've lost three times, won twice, but they've all been pretty close), so, while I'm not going to beg (please vote for me!), I do hope you find my argument convincing. But first, let's hear from Seyth: Miersma: Ten-years old or newer makes this challenging. At that age most vehicles feel like a plain old used car to me, few hit the "classic" button. But the Subaru WRX STI has always been a special car, and the 2005 cutoff year proves to be very attractive for the parameters of our contest. It's rare; with fewer than 5,000 STI models sold that model year. It's probably the best looking WRX STI ever sold in America; narrowly avoiding the dreadful "horse collar" front fascia. And it's got one of the more die-hard car-geek followings out there. For $25,000, you can also still find examples that have reasonable miles, are in good condition, and haven't all been molested by grown-up Initial D wannabes. With the street racers hacking up collectable examples every day, I like my odds for steep appreciation by way of conservation. I couldn't agree more. It really is difficult to predict what cars will catch the eye of collectors, and the WRX STI seems like a pretty good choice. But I think mine is even better, and I can't let him know that I'd love to park just such an STI in my very own garage. And so goes my argument: Korzeniewski: I like your choice as a driver, Seyth. I'm less convinced of its status as a sure-fire collectible.
McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021
Tue, May 4 2021Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.
