Hello, up for sale is one of my toys.  I am selling it to simply free up some funds and pay off some bills.  It is paid for and I do not have to sell it, but I hate just seeing it sit the majority of the time so I am giving someone the opportunity to enjoy the Durango and get it out there more.

The durango was originally a 2001 SLT 4 wheel drive.  It is now converted to 2 wheel drive with the Hemi swap.  There was a major realestate issue with the 6.1 hemi oil pan and the front differential.  I chose to convert it to 2WD as it does not see the winter weather anymore and the stock trasfer case would of had issues with much 4wd romping.  The 6.1 HEMI has a Comp Cams XFI273 cam and Arrington Engines Push Rods in it.  The exhaust is pretty much open 3" and dumps in front of the rear tires.  It gets pretty obnoxious when out getting on it! Better be careful in areas with noise ordanances!  Neighbors with car alarms set will hate it when you take a romp down the street, LOL!!  On the dyno the durnago is pushing 400hp at the wheels.  It currently has 4.56 gear in it so hope you like buying tires!  It ran 13.7 in the 1/4, even with the big heavy 22" rims!  (See pics for time slips #742.)  I have some much lighter drag radials and rims that will go with if you want them.  There is also a nitrous kit partially installed.  It just needs the nitrous and fuel lines hooked up under the hood and the controller wired and setup.  Currently has a 75 shot jets but I have 100 shot in the kit.  The rest of the system will go with, unless you do not want it.  If you are wanting to show it more than play with it, there is a larger much more of a show piece sub box that can go with too.  It will need re-wired, but will come with the 2 x 15" subs, 2 x 12" subs, and 4 amplifiers that were originally on it.  The prettier sub box is much heavier, but the Durango has load leveling assist to level it back up.  I also have a hitch that goes with.

Some more information on the Durango: It has a beefed up 45RFE trans in it by Bowler Performance.  The 6.1 HEMI is from a wrecked '06 Charger SRT8. '04 5.7 HEMI ram ECU so that it can control the engine and the trans, the 5.7 ECU luckily uses the same type of communication as the '01 Durango, so ALL the gages work properly. Also with the 5.7 truck ECU, the 45RFE became a 5-45RFE, meaning one more forward gear ratio. There is always a check engine light on because I did not hook up all the emissions equipment, but if someone wanted to they could purchase the items and wire them in, but without adding catalytic converters and some more substantial mufflers, it won't pass an emissions test.  I am sure there is someone out there who can remove the emission codes from the ECU as another option, I just never fully researched it.

Dodge Durango gets the Blacktop treatment

Sat, 09 Aug 2014

The Dodge Durango is getting a meaner, more aggressive look as it becomes the latest model from the brand to wear the Blacktop Appearance Package. The upgrades are strictly cosmetic, but they lend the SUV a more assertive demeanor that some buyers like.
Available on the SXT, Limited and R/T (shown above) models, all Blacktop Durangos get black 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bod- color fascia and gloss black trim. The grille surround, air dam, mirrors and headlight surrounds all get the inky treatment, as well. The improvements add $1,590 to the cost of the SXT. They come to $1,990 on the Limited but also include HID headlights with LED running lights and a leather interior. Finally, R/T buyers only need to pay $295 for the upgrades. The Blacktop Durango hits showrooms this October.
If you're already in the market for a Durango but want a dash more style with no added performance, the Blacktop might not be a bad way to go. It certainly gives the SUV a bit more edge than it has in stock form. Scroll down to read the full release.

All hail the Hellephant, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower crate engine

Wed, Oct 31 2018

It's shocking to say this, but the all-powerful Dodge Demon looks weak now that Mopar has unleashed the Hellephant. This crate motor makes 1,000 horsepower and 950 pound-feet of torque, and its name is a combination of the nickname for the old 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8 and, obviously, the Hellcat. This monster is a 426-cubic-inch version of the current third-generation Hemi V8 topped by a supercharger similar to what the Hellcat line packs. Everything is cranked up to — or perhaps, past — 11. The engine block is made of aluminum and weighs 100 pounds less than the equivalent iron block. All of the internals are forged. The stroke and bore have been increased. The supercharger produces 15 pounds of boost and displaces 3 liters; more than the 2.7-liter blower on the Demon and the 2.4-liter blower on the Hellcat. And as big and powerful as it is, it will still rev to 7,000 rpm. It's a thoroughly monstrous motor, but shockingly, it won't be that difficult to live with. For one thing, Mopar will offer a complete kit to get the engine up and running, including an engine computer, wiring harness and drive-by-wire throttle. It also runs on 93-octane pump gas. That's especially amazing considering the Demon engine "only" makes 840 horsepower, and that's on race gas with 100+ octane fuel. It also has us wondering what the Hellephant could make on racing fuel. The Mopar folks did say that there's room to add more power. Pricing wasn't announced for the Hellephant engine. The Hellcat crate engine retails at $19,350 directly from Mopar, so it's safe to assume that the Hellephant will go for more. The installation kit with the computer and harness will be an extra charge of likely over $2,000, based on the Hellcat kit. The engine and the kit will be available in the first quarter of 2019. Junkyard Gem: 1963 Dodge Dart two-door sedan

Mon, Mar 6 2017

The 1963-1966 Dodge Dart, sibling to the Plymouth Valiant, was sturdy, cheap, and easy to drive, and it sold very well. Here's a worn-but-solid example of the two-door '63 Dart sedan, spotted in a Denver-area self-service wrecking yard. The only transmission choices for the Dart this year were a three-speed manual and an automatic controlled by Chrysler's famous dash-mounted pushbutton shifter. These shifters worked surprisingly well, even when used for road racing. Starting in the 1964 model year, the Dart could be purchased with a 273-cubic-inch V8 engine, but in 1963 Dart buyers had but two engine choices: a slant-6 displacing 170 cubic inches and good for 101 horsepower and a slant-6 displacing 225 cubic inches and making 145 horsepower. This car has the big engine. This is one of the most reliable engines to come out of Detroit, period. The interior is pretty beat, but the metal isn't rusty. You'd think that someone would have rescued this car long before it came to this sorry end, but perhaps Dart restorers only want numbers-matching V8 cars these days.
