1974 Dodge Dart Sport 360 Mopar on 2040-cars
Fulshear, Texas, United States
This is one sweet Mopar built with a lot of care and love. If you are a true Mopar guythat really embraces "Old School American Detroit MOPAR Muscle" you have come to right spot. The pictures below really do detail a thousand words. Most everything has
been either replaced upgraded or restored. I will do my best to give you all the major
details and encourage you to ask questions. Some folks that I have given a ride says
this car "really smells and sounds like the Mopar I had back in high school in the 70's.
Lots of power for street cruising or strip. Everytime I take it out for a cruise people follow
me and the old guys give me a thumbs up! I installed electric cut-outs on the headers. All
you need to do at the stop light is to push a button and it goes from mufflers to open
headers in about 4 seconds. This car sounds awesome. I was at a car show in the Mopar
corral and opened the headers immediately everyone flocked over and could not beleve
the sound. Everyone said your car is a real sleeper.

Junkyard 1983 Dodge Rampage has Franco-American roots
Mon, Jun 20 2016Lee Iacocca and the K-Cars get most of the credit for saving Chrysler after the company's 1979 bailout by the US government, but the success of the Simca-derived Omnirizon platform was a large, if overlooked, component of Chrysler's early-1980s resurgence. The Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon were sold in the United States for the 1978 through 1990 model years, and variants included the 1983-1987 Dodge Charger and the Rampage, this well-worn example of which I spotted in a Denver self-service wrecking yard last week. The early Omnirizons came with a Volkswagen-sourced 1.7-liter engine, but all of the Rampage pickups (and their near-identical Plymouth Scamp siblings) came from the factory with a 2.2-liter K-Car engine making 96 horses. This truck has a 4-speed manual transmission, which would have made it reasonably quick by Malaise Era standards. This one had plenty of body filler and rust, even before the crash that sent it on that final tow-truck ride to this place, so it wouldn't have been worth restoring. Still, we can hope that some of its parts will live on in other L-body trucks. Dodge unveils Special Service Durango for government fleets
Fri, 18 Oct 2013Straight off its refresh, the Dodge Durango is slipping back into its dress blues and getting back to work. The 2014 Dodge Durango Special Service Vehicle boasts all the refinements and improvements that the refreshed, civilian-spec model received, most notably a 15-percent improvement in fuel economy.
Designed for police and fire departments, and as Chrysler's answer to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility and Chevrolet Tahoe PPV in the growing service SUV market, the Durango boasts a 600-mile range, thanks to the addition of an eight-speed automatic, available on both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Equipped with the 360-horsepower Hemi, the Durango SSV can tow up to 7,400 pounds (the V6 is limited to 6,200 pounds).
Police and fire department Durangos get a few special features over the civilian models. The electric systems are ruggedized, with a heavy duty battery and a 220-amp alternator in place, while the engine's water pump and oil cooler are both stronger. The brakes are tougher, and a load-leveling suspension has been fitted, too.
