For sale is my 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger that was born with a 340 and a 3 speed manual transmission on the floor. The vin, fender tag, door tag, the number stamped on the trunk lip under the weatherstripping all match. I also have the build sheet, so this is the real deal. The Dart is also a California car.
The engine and transmission......The 340 engine and the four speed manual transmission that are in the Dart right now came out of a 1969 Cuda. The Cuda engine had a high quality rebuild about 8 years ago and that's when the Cuda engine was put in for the original 340. The Cuda engine starts right up and runs strong. The transmission also runs strong and shifts with no problems. I still have the original numbers matching 340 that the Dart was born with but I do not have the original 3 speed transmission that it was born with. The Cuda engine doesn't have a bunch of miles on it since the rebuild, the Dart was sitting for a while and only driven from time to time.
Interior......The interior is all black and could use a new headliner, new carpet, new door panels, new dash pad and rear seat reupholstered. I do not have the original front split bench seat anymore, the front seats in it now are just some bucket seats out of a old charger. I took the carpet and seats out so that you can see the floor pans in the photo, there is no rust at all. The gauges, heater, speedometer and lights all work but I don't have the original tachometer anymore, it has an aftermarket tachometer now. I don't have the original am radio either, it now has a cd player.
Exterior......The body and trunk are rust free except for a small area on the lower driver's side rear quarter panel, see photo. The rust has only affected the outside metal and not the interior metal of the quarter panel, it looks like to be an easy fix. I do not have the original hood and hood scoops anymore, the hood was damaged years ago when a box fell on it. It didn't damage anything else but the hood and slightly bent the hood hinge, that's why the hood on it now doesn't line up that well. The hood now is just a stock hood from a 1970 dart. The Dart was born with Hemi Orange paint and a black stripe on the trunk. The Dart has been sitting out in the sun for years and the paint shows it. The black stripe has also been taken off. The body is very straight but has a few minor dents/blemishes, nothing that can't easily be fixed. All the glass looks good but the windshield will need to be replaced due to a long crack. All the lights and blinkers work.
You can view the photo of the vin and fender tag printout to see what the Dart was originally born with.
I'm sure there are many things that I forgot to mention but just send me an email and I'll get back to you.
This is a very solid car. The Dart is fast, loud and a lot of fun to drive.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup
Fri, 18 Jul 2014Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Chrysler Recalls Over 566,000 Trucks, SUVs
Wed, Oct 29 2014Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 566,000 trucks and SUVs in two recalls for malfunctioning fuel heaters that can cause fires and a software glitch can disable the electronic stability control. The recalls bring the newly merged company's total for the year to 6.4 million vehicles worldwide and 5.1 million in the U.S. as it continues to struggle with reliability problems. It was not immediately clear whether those totals were annual records. On Tuesday, its longtime quality chief abruptly left after Fiat Chrysler performed poorly in Consumer Reports magazine's annual reliability rankings. The largest of two recalls announced Wednesday covers almost 382,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and Ram 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs from 2010 through 2014. In trucks with 6.7-Liter Cummins diesel engines, corrosion on a fuel heater terminal could cause overheating, fuel leaks and fires. Chrysler is not aware of any fires or injuries. Owners could be warned by an odor of diesel fuel. Customers will be notified by letters starting in December. Dealers will install upgraded terminals and fuel heater housings could be replaced. The second recall covers more than 184,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from 2014. A debris cover over a circuit board in the steering column control module can disrupt communications and disable the stability control. The problem was discovered when dealers started getting reports from customers that electronic stability control warning lights were coming on. Fiat Chrysler says it knows of no crashes or injuries caused by the problem. Technicians will upgrade software to fix the SUVs, and customers will be notified in December. Fiat Chrysler has issued 33 global recalls and 27 in the U.S. so far this year. Doug Betts, its longtime quality chief, left the company to pursue other options after Consumer Reports' survey-based rankings this year showed four FiatChrysler brands at the bottom of its list. Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat performed worst of 28 brands ranked by the magazine. Company spokesman Eric Mayne said Fiat Chrysler's recalls average fewer than 200,000 vehicles each, below the industry average of 301,000. That means the company is responding quickly to problems, he said, adding that eight of its 27 U.S. recalls were announced before the company received any consumer complaints. Chrysler is not alone with a high number of recalls so far this year.
