1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Hardtop 2-door 5.6l on 2040-cars
Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States
You are Bidding on a VERY RARE 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 that came out of the factory in 69 wrapped in paint code B-5 Blue with a Black Bumble Bee Stripe at the rear. This is the rarest of colors for the Dodge Dart as very few were factory painted this color. To add to the rarity of this car it came off the factory line with Factory Disc Brakes and Factory Posi-Rear! Also there were less Swinger 340’s produced in 69 than any other model of the Dart. This car is a very solid project car and has been stripped all the way down to the suspension and is ready to be restored. All of the disassembly work has been done so that will save you allot of time prepping it for restoration. All parts, nuts, bolts etc… that were removed have been bagged and tagged so that re-assembly will be a snap. This is a complete car with all bumpers, trim and interior. This car is a FACTORY DISC BRAKE CAR It still retains its numbers matching 727 torqueflite transmission and FACTORY INSTALLED POSI-REAR END. The original engine is long gone but a freshly built, never run 360 engine is included in the sale of this car. Also included are a rust free trunk lid, brand new still-in-the-box full rear quarter panels (both sides), two brand new still-in-the-box front fenders and the original rust free 340 hood with the chrome inserts. The floors are very decent and have had some patchwork done in the front drivers and passengers foot area. The trunk is all original and has no through rust, just surface rust. The rockers have been cut out due to rust and the rear quarters were cut at the mid point and some cheap aftermarket quarters were installed some time ago but were never finished. They are cheap aftermarket reproductions and don’t fit well so it was decided that the cheap knock offs would be removed and tossed and the brand new American made quarters would be installed. All undercarriage frame structures are in good shape. No major rust in any of those structures or in the inner fender wells up front or the rear wheel housings. The inner rockers are in need of replacement and have not yet been cut out. Unfortunately financial difficulties have brought this project to an end so it has to go. This would be a great Father/Son project car and would make a Fantastic driver or an Outstanding Show Car. It’s a rarity to see a Dodge Dart at a car show much less a Swinger 340 and with all of these factory installed features it will likely be the ONLY ONE. So if you want to be the envy of all of the Mopar Muscle Car Enthusiasts then don’t miss out on this very unique one of very few classic Dodge Darts, a car that due to its power to weight ratio has been synonymous with NHRA Racing ever since the mid 60’s. 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup
Fri, 18 Jul 2014Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
Dodge celebrates big B-day with 100th Anniversary Editions muscle cars
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Being in business for 100 years is a HUGE milestone, so we hope Dodge has more in mind to celebrate its centennial than just a special edition package for the 2014 Charger and Challenger. Called the 100th Anniversary Edition package, this collection of cosmetic enhancements will be available in limited quantities for both cars at a cost of $2,500.
Ordering a Charger or Challenger with the 100th Anniversary Edition package means starting with either a V6-powered SXT Plus or V8-powered R/T Plus model. They can each be ordered in many colors, but only the High-Octane Red Pearl Coat above is an anniversary exclusive. Each car also comes with an anniversary-exclusive set of 20-inch, five-spoke wheels with what Dodge calls "Granite Crystal pockets," a texture that's also mirrored on each car's grille.
Of course, there are commemorative badges galore affixed to the exterior of each car, including "Dodge Est. 1914" fender badges and "100" logos on the center caps of each wheel. The styling theme of each car's interior is a bit more interesting, with Dodge designers trying to evoke "the patina and machinist legacy of John and Horace Dodge," the company's founders. To that end, the leather interior can be had in Molten Red or Foundry Black Nappa, and each features a custom cloud overprint that makes the hide look like a working man's dirty dungarees. Designers also used brass-colored accent stitching on the interior's leather trim pieces, and affixed more "Dodge Est. 1914" badges to the front seat backs and floor mats. We do like the flat-bottomed steering wheel, and the Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition gets exclusive white gauges faces and the Charger black. The "100" on each car's speedometer is also highlighted in red.
Dodge, Jeep and Ram could soon be owned by Chinese automakers
Mon, Aug 14 2017For the past several years, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has made it widely known that the automaker he helms is up for grabs. First, he sent an email to GM CEO Mary Barra, who immediately refused to even discuss a merger. Later, Marchionne set his sights on Volkswagen. That too was swiftly rebuffed. It seemed like no global automaker was remotely interested in a partnership. Now, Automotive News reports that several Chinese automakers have come calling, only FCA isn't ready to answer. At least not yet. The news broke this morning that a major Chinese automaker had made an offer to purchase FCA for slightly above market value. FCA refused, saying the offer wasn't quite generous enough. It's unclear which automaker made the offer, but Automotive News says there's more than one interested party. FCA representatives have recently traveled to China to meet with Great Wall Motors, while Chinese representatives were seen at FCA corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. The Chinese government has a lot of money invested in local automakers. It's putting pressure on these automakers to expand globally, including to the United States. As it stands, it's a matter of when a Chinese automaker will start selling cars here, not if. Purchasing an established automaker with a wide range of products and a huge dealer network would do wonders in giving the Chinese a foothold here. Sure, Geely owns Volvo, but a luxury automaker doesn't have nearly as much reach as a more mainstream company like FCA. This seems like the best case scenario for both a Chinese automaker looking to move into the U.S. and for FCA, at least from a business standpoint. The latter doesn't seem to have any other interested parties. It will be interesting to see how FCA would sell a deal like this to the public. We're not sure everyone will be happy with Dodge, Jeep and Ram falling under Chinese ownership. FCA didn't turn down the Chinese because they didn't like the idea. It turned down the offer because there wasn't enough money on the table. Related Video: News Source: Automotive News Earnings/Financials Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM
