Nice solid '61 Dart Seneca, 4 door sedan, 225 cid slant six runs excellent, no smoke, runs very clean, exhaust is a little loud, Torqueflite 3 speed auto tranny shifts very well, carb has been thoroughly cleaned, original gas tank is in fantastic shape, it's been cleaned and sealed, along with a new sending unit gasket and float installed, ethanol treatment, lead additive and octane boost used in the gasoline, installed a new master cyl and two front brake hoses for the brakes, did a brake bleed and nice clean fluid throughout, brakes work very good, all lines are solid, car is a southern car and very solid underneath, the floors are excellent, no holes or patches, fenders are very nice, no filler, solid doors, rockers, doglegs, bottom of passenger side quarter panel has some rot, and the driver's side bottom quarter has been fixed before. Trunk floor is original and does have a few small holes, as seen in the pics. Lip where weather strip is is very solid, as is the trunklid and roof. Glass is all good, interior is decent, beautiful original headliner, dash is faded and has some pitting on the chrome parts, door panels are fair, but hanging in there. Rear seat is original and not too bad, does have a couple of splits, front seat is torn up a bit, hence the seat cover. Car was originally LL1 Silver-grey metallic, but was repainted years ago in a charcoal grey metallic. It buffed up pretty good, but it could use a fresh coat. The car has manual brakes, manual steering, and the only options it has is a radio, torqueflite, and a day/nite mirror. My apologies for the horrible looking rims that are on it, I do not have the originals. These rims would be better suited for a car trailer in my opinion, but they'll get the job done. It runs very nice, and it does drive very well, but it's not ready for a road trip yet. Before a long distance drive is in order, I would suggest the hubs be pulled to check the wheel cylinders, and I would suggest a carb re-build and a fresh set of tires.  Very hard to find these cars in this condition anymore. Most of them rusted shortly after they were new. Any questions, just ask. and no, the red '58 is not for sale. This will make a great little driver, or it can be restored, it's your call. The milage is original on it, and it runs and drives like it as well. I've included a photo of the gas tank before it was installed back into the car, so you can see how nice it is. Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

Dodge designer on yellow plastic splitter guards: 'I wish they would take them off'

About a year ago, Dodge began placing yellow strips of plastic on the leading edge of Charger and Challenger front splitters to prevent damage during transport from plant to dealer. Dodge embossed "To Be Removed By Dealer" into the plastic, but those instructions weren't always followed. By summer of 2018, so many owners had left the tabs on, or reinstalled a discarded set, or bought a set on eBay for $100 or more, that factions broke out. Some thought the protectors looked cool, some thought they looked foolish, some thought it didn't matter either way. Now Dodge and SRT lead designer Mark Trostle has stepped in with his thoughts, those being, "I wish they would take them off."  Trostle made the remarks at the end of a video by Canadian auto scribe Brian Makse that otherwise dove into the design and technology on the 2010 Charger Widebody. Part of the designer's remarks related to aesthetic aspects — designers are paid to be precious about every line they draw, after all. "When we did the sketch for the Charger and Challenger," he said, "it never had yellow strips on it," and, "To me, as a designer, it ruins the lines of the car." He had a functional reason as well, though: "You're just ruining the paint!" The paint issue convinced Tyler Grant, the Internet sales manager at a Dodge dealer, to make a Facebook post in April this year requesting owners remove the splitter guards. Grant wrote that because the guards aren't specifically molded to fit perfectly, dirt and moisture get between the plastic and the splitter and mar the clear coat or paint, illustrated by a scuffed example that had been driven just 18 miles with the protectors on. He ended with, "Please, on behalf of your splitter AND its paint, take off the splitter guards." Despite forum chatter, splitter-shaming Facebook photos, and Facebook groups like "Hey Pal, You Forgot to Take Your Splitter Guards Off," it appears too late for the protector color to curb (get it?) the trend. Owners have already dealt with the dirt issue by putting protective tape on the air dam, others have painted the spilitter guards to match the car, and the owner of a vintage Dodge pickup ran yellow tape across the width of his front bumper in an attempt to join the party.  In the Makse video, Trostle said that the automaker would soon be rolling out a "new fashionable purple color" for the protectors. "We'll see if that one takes off," he said. "I hope it doesn't."

Dodge Charger Hellcat hitting 60 in 2.9 seconds on drag radials?

The Dodge boys and their cousins from SRT have shoehorned the same 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 into both the Dodge Challenger and Charger. The former being a two-door, it's lighter than the latter four-door sedan. So it would stand to reason that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would be the quicker of the two, right?
Only that's not necessarily proving to be the case. On stock rubber, yes, the coupe beats the sedan: Dodge quotes a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds for the Charger SRT Hellcat and 3.5 for the Challenger. Same gap across the quarter-mile: 11 seconds flat for the Charger versus 10.8 seconds for the Challenger. But according to recent reports, the story changes when you put both on drag radials.
While visiting Chrysler HQ in Auburn Hills, MI, TorqueNews.com caught wind of performance figures for the Charger Hellcat on drag tires: 0-60 in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile in just 10.7. The latter figure just barely pips the Hellcat-powered Challenger's NHRA-certified figure of 10.8, making the Charger not only the fastest sedan on the market, but also the fastest muscle car. What isn't immediately clear, however, is whether the drag radials in question have any tread on them and are street-legal, or if they're pure slicks confined to a closed strip.
