1970 Dodge Super Bee Tribute on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
1970 Super Bee tribute. Started life as a coronet
500, but now the only thing left of the 500 is the vin tag. Has correct
hood, tail panel, dash cluster and all badging. This car is very clean
with ZERO rust anywhere and has very nice paint and interior.
Engine is a nicely built, pump gas 440 +.030, KB pistons, Edelbrock heads, Performer RPM intake, Erson solid roller cam 238@.050, .555 lift, Hughes 1.6 roller rockers, 8 qt Milodon oil pan and 1/2" pick up, Holley 870 avenger carb, revinator elec ign and mopar performance distributor, MSD coil, alum water pump and housing, viscous fan, march serpentine pulleys, 1 7/8 Hooker headers w 3" flowmaster exhaust and 3" TTI stainless factory appearing tips. Trans is a auto with T/A 3500 stall, chromemoly driveshaft, 8 3/4 sure grip w/ 3.55. This car has not been raced, but I would bet that with a set of slicks it whould have no trouble running high 11's or low 12's. Most everything on this car is new, from the 3/8" fuel line, gas tank and sending unit, master power disc brake kit, rebuilt front and rear suspension, weld drag lite wheels and BFG radial TA tires, reproduction underdash wiring harness and all underhood wiring, modern reproduction battery, restored wiper motor, mini starter, and much more. The interior is beautiful, but there is a small rip on the drivers seat. This could easily be repaired, and was not caused by years of abuse, but from an accidental tear. The body is solid and straight and paint is very nice. It was repainted by the previous owner in a base/clear of the original burnt orange color. There are a few scratches here and there, but it still shows very well. The jambs and trunk are all very clean and presentable, and the underside of the car is undercoated. There is NO RUST on this car. The trim is all very straight and excellent with no rust or pitting anywhere. The bumpers shine nice with no dings, fading or pitting. This car needs nothing! Everything works including all lights, gauges, tick tock tach, am/fm factory radio, heat and drives beautifully with no rattles or strange noises... This is a beautiful car that looks like a real 383 Super Bee, but runs way harder than any original, and you won't be afraid to get in and drive. Take your family out to local shows or a Sunday cruise...or bolt on a set of slicks and hit the dragstrip like the old days! This vehicle is also up for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. My reserve is reasonable, and there will be NO disappointments! I am happy to answer any questions, so feel free to call me at 773-426-6006. Thanks and happy bidding!! |

The last time Dodge recycled the Demon name, it was for a Miata fighter
Fri, Jan 20 2017We and the rest of the automotive world are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Dodge Challenger Demon. And why wouldn't we be? It's going to be a Hellcat, but with less weight, bigger fenders, more performance, and more Vin Diesel. This isn't the first time we've been excited about a Demon from Dodge, though. Ten years ago, Dodge had another demonic car, but it was very different from the new one. The Demon of 2007 was a lithe little roadster that looked primed and ready to take on the Miata, as well as the now-departed Solstice and Sky twins. The Demon was just under an inch shorter than the MX-5 and the Solstice, and it packed a 172 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder that fell right between the Miata's 170 and the Solstice's 177 outputs. Dodge's estimated the curb weight, which for a concept is largely theoretical, also slotted between the two cars at 2600 pounds. That was about 150 more than the Mazda, and about 200 less than the Pontiac. The pitch perfect specifications were presented in a crisp two-seat roadster wrapper. In many ways, it looked like a baby Viper, with a menacing crosshair grille, slanted headlights, and fat rear fenders. The Demon's line's were brutally simple and geometric, too. They didn't seem far removed from the first-generation Audi TT. The interior was also plain and simple. The key highlights were a horizontal aluminum accent that ran the width of the dash, echoed by an aluminum-covered center console. The instrument cluster was uncluttered, with just four gauges, and the only controls were some climate knobs, a double-DIN head unit, and a six-speed manual. It turns out that the 2007 Demon didn't drive very well, though. You see, we actually drove this concept back in the day, and like many concepts, it still had a long way to go to be production ready. The gearbox would grind, the ride quality was terrible. However, the interior was roomy, and the engine sounded suitably grumbly, if a bit coarse. At the time, we said Dodge should absolutely build the little roadster. In retrospect, the company probably made the right decision not to invest in the Demon. The small rear drive sports car segment was, and still is, an extremely niche market. It would have been a big investment for little return, something FCA today is trying to avoid. This is all before taking into account the fact that the recession was just around the corner. In the end, we can't be too sad though.
2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat revealed [UPDATE]
Wed, 13 Aug 2014Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy - and so intoxicating - we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
New Barracuda, Grand Cherokee Trackhawk coming soon
Wed, Aug 26 2015As we write this, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is conducting a major dealership event in sunny Las Vegas. New vehicles are being announced, redesigned offerings are being teased, and promises are being made to the sprawling company's dealer body. And, as all these announcements are meant to be tip-top secret, they're leaking out left, right, and center. Naturally. FCA is telling its dealers all of the vehicles shown at the Vegas gala will be in showrooms within 12 to 24 months, and that the product offensive will include at least 30 new or significantly refreshed models. Some of those we've known about since FCA boss Sergio Marchionne unveiled his highly ambitious five-year plan in May 2014, while we're hearing about others for the very first time. We've reached out to our sources within FCA, and will update this post as we learn more. It should be noted that while we've tried to rely on concrete sources or corroborations from multiple sources, some of the news here comes from people claiming to have been in attendance and posting in forums like Allpar and Jalopnik's Opposite Lock. Unless corroborated by a mainstream source or confirmed by our own sources within FCA, we're listing each item that comes from a forum. Have those grains of salt at the ready. Chrysler Dodge Durango-sized SUV with stow-and-go was shown. A poster on Allpar Forums claims it had a Durango's interior. New Aspen? Town and Country PHEV confirmed (again). A plug-in minivan was originally announced as part of five-year plan. No news on 200 or 300. Dodge The redesigned Charger will use the Alfa Romeo Giulia's rear-drive platform and, according Automotive News, draw inspiration from 1999's Charger concept car. We're wagering the 24-month time frame specified to dealers will move the new sedan's arrival up from 2018 to mid-2017. Jalopnik's Opposite Lock claims two new Challenger models are coming. Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer) and T/A. ADR should appeal to bracket racers and is more powerful than the SRT Hellcat, while T/A is for track rats, just like Viper T/A. Automotive News claims the legendary Barracuda nameplate will be revived as a Dodge. The Barracuda will be smaller than Challenger, offered as both a coupe and a convertible. Allpar claims it will feature modern styling. A Dodge Durango SRT was announced with 6.4-liter Hemi V8 and rear-drive. Sources within FCA confirmed its arrival with Autoblog. Apparently, dealers were shown an example in B5 Blue.
