1970 Dodge Coronet 440 4 Door
I have owned this 70 Coronet since March 2004. I have worked on it and stored it on and off over the last 9+ years and now I have bought a 1970 Coronet convertible and a new 2012 Dodge Charger. Time for someone else to enjoy the 70 Coronet 4 Door. When I first got the car, it had a lot of water leaks in the trunk, I repaired all of them (mostly lack of seam sealer after a quick re-paint). I repaired a bad wheel bearing, replaced all 4 drum brakes, rebuilt the 904 transmission and did some other small upgrades. I also replaced the original seat covers with generic cloth covers. They are custom fit, but not the OEM upholstery. I have the originals for use as patterns in case you want to return to the OEM style. I replaced the carpet and converted the AC system to r1234a and installed a new compressor and condenser.
I drove the Coronet on and off over the years, as my business got busy, it tended to sit in storage a lot. in 2009 I decided to make it my daily driver and began a series of upgrades designed to make it a practical daily driver that I could have room in the back seat for my daughters and still have a bit of fun on the street. I collected a lot of parts for suspension upgrades and removed the original vinyl roof to find any last rust damaged. I found holes around the front and rear windows and that is when the plans stalled. The coronet sat in storage again until we found time in the shop to repaired the rust around both windshields.
Once I repaired the rust in the roof, by cutting out the bad metal and welding in new, I wasn't sure if replacing the vinyl top was a smart move. I decided it did need the black top to make the Ice Blue Metallic paint show well, but did not want the future rust issues that seem to come along with a vinyl top. So I used spray on bed liner material to replace the top! Now you have the look of a vinyl top and it is the best protection available for the roof. I then had the car repainted in the original B3-Ice Blue paint color, but used new basecoat / clearcoat paint. The underhood and under the decklid are still original paint.
Around that time, I purchased a new Charger (a 2006 R/T with the track pack performance group and a 5.7 Hemi). Well, that car changed all my plans and the charger became my daily driver and the 70 Coronet sat in storage again. I brought it out again last year (2012) and finished the suspension upgrades, added front and rear sway bars, added welded in torque boxes and frame connectors. I also replaced the steering gear box, idler arm, pitman arm and installed a new A/C compressor and replaced the evaporator (inside the car with the heater core). The factory A/C system blows cold and all the controls operate as they should.
Now I have bought another new car (a 2012 Charger R/T this time) and also recently found a purchased a one owner 1970 Coronet Convertible, so it is time for the 1970 Dodge Coronet 4-door to be enjoyed by a new owner. It is a 50 year old car and has issues, but overall it is a good running car that operates as it should, but it is not a new car! Most folks make statements on ebay about purchases being final and I have a slightly different philosophy. If you purchase the Coronet and come look at it and decide you do not want it, you do not have to buy it. I do ask that you cover the cost of the listing, but that is all. I own a Mopar shop and my reputation on ebay is important to us, we want happy customers!

Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]
Fri, Jul 3 2015Update: An earlier version of this story misstated the 2015 Mustang's weight when compared with previous models. Additionally, we have added comments from Chevrolet in the text. The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. View 17 Photos June's performance allowed the Mustang to widen its sales gap with the Camaro this year. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.
2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop hits the pavement ahead of Detroit
Tue, 07 Jan 2014Dodge is getting ready to spread the Blacktop-themed love to the smallest member of its lineup. Last year, the automaker offered up Blacktop versions of the Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey. And now the Dart, too, gets its dark on for 2014, with the $295 package offered on Dart SXT models equipped with the Rallye Appearance Group. The Dart Blacktop will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week.
As with the other Blacktop special-edition models, the Dart Blacktop gets glossy black accents for a "sporty, sinister look." The blacked-out treatment spreads across the 18-inch wheels to the crosshair grille, grille surround and headlamp bezels. The interior sees a similar treatment, with black and light tungsten or black and ruby red cloth to go with red accent stitching on the instrument panel, center console and seat bolsters.
For the 2014 model year, all Dart SXT and Limited models receive the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark engine with 184 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, and since the Blacktop is based on the SXT, that's the powerplant buyers of this special-edition will get, too. Expect the 2014 Dart Blacktop to hit dealers in the first quarter, and while you're waiting, feel free to read more in the official press release below.
