This is a rare 1968 Dodge Super Bee (VIN WM21H8A342940) with '68 Hemi Engine owned by 2nd owner since September of
1971 (44 years). This vehicle was purchased in the Monterrey Bay area of California, and has never seen salt or
snow. The body has no rust anywhere. It was driven back to Wisconsin in July of 1973, stored that winter, then
spent the next 20 years as a drag racing car. It was always trailered to the race tracks (Great Lakes, Byron &
Wisconsin International Raceway). In 1994 it was stored under cover on cement in my Pole Building until the winter
of 2005-6, when it was put back in street trim for local use and the 2006 Hot Rod Power Tour, then was involved in
9 Power Tours in total, including the 2015 tour. During this time it had 2 articles in Hot Rod Magazine (November
2006 &2014)..
The car has had many modifications over the years, especially for Power Tour. Here's the list as currently in use:
Engine: 1968 426 Hemi engine, acquired in 1976. It currently is bored .020” oversize with Keith Black
Hypereutectic 9.5 to 1 pistons, standard Kellogg crankshaft, with stock 7/16” connecting rods, balanced, Custom
ground Howards Hydraulic cam, Street Hemi heads with steel inserts for exhaust valves, stainless valves (2.25 I,
1.94 E, 5/16” chrome stems). Currently setup with 1968 Mag Cross Ram intake with two 450 cfm throttle bodies,
EDIS ignition (no distributor) with crank trigger and two Mopar dual coil paks, all controlled by custom built
MegaSquirt ECU. Exhaust system is stock Hemi iron manifolds with custom 2 1/2” dual exhaust with crossover, and
turbo mufflers. In the current setup it has gotten a best of 18 MPG at highway speeds.
Transmission: Highly modified GM 700R4 4 Speed automatic with lockup. A TCI adapter mates the trans with the
engine. The mechanical parts are all from a 4L70e and aftermarket. The valve body is from TCI and eliminates the
critical throttle cable adjustments. The trans has 18000 miles in this car with no mechanical problems. Shifter by
B&M, deep oil pan, transmission cooling line filter, custom control of converter lockup, both manual and
MegaSquirt.
Differential: Dana 60 with 3.54 SureGrip, Mopar Super Stock rear leaf springs inset into sub-frame, Mini-tubbed for
tire clearance. Custom balanced steel drive shaft.
Body: Always stored under cover, never driven in winter, never been in snow or salt on roads. Fresh paint in 2010,
has 2nd vinyl top from new, interior maintains the cars racing heritage, with roll cage, custom dash, custom
aluminum door panels, 15 gallon aluminum fuel cell, battery in the trunk, twin parallel fuel pumps, bucket seats
(left 6 way power), original headliner, rear L&R panels.
I have many additional parts for this car: Original 383 Engine (62K miles); original TorqueFlyte 727 transmission;
Dash parts (Speedo, clock switch bezels); Original Street Hemi Dual Quad intake system, including air cleaner,
linkage, tagged original carbs; Hemi 727 TorqueFlyte; original Hemi Dual point distributor; additional Hood; much
more (more pictures available). With additional arrangements and time to complete, the engine/transmission setup
can be changed to meet buyers requirements, All of these additional parts are included with car purchase

Dodge whips covers off 2013 Blacktop series

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Dodge introduced us to its Blacktop model lineup a year ago with the 2012 Charger and followed up with more recently with the 2013 Challenger and 2013 Avenger. Now the automaker will be applying this ominous-looking treatment to the Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey models for 2013 as well. These models will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show, but Dodge has released most of the details for these new products including pricing and availability.
If the Grand Caravan R/T (aka, the Man Van) wasn't aggressive enough for you or its $30,000 starting price was a little too pricey, then the 2013 Grand Caravan Blacktop could be the ticket. Starting with the SXT trim level (which stickers at $19,995), the Blacktop package costs only $595, and adds unique features such as blacked-out headlights, grille and fog lights bezels and an all-black interior. The van rides on black-accented, 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Grand Caravan Blacktop is only available in monochromatic paint schemes limited to Billet Silver, Brilliant Black, Maximum Steel, Redline Red and Stone White
Likewise, the 2013 Journey Blacktop is offered only on the SXT model (starting at $18,995) with all of the crossover's normal options such as four- and six-cylinder engines, five- or seven-passenger seating and front- or all-wheel drive. The Blacktop package adds $995 to the Journey SXT's price and features many of the same black accents as the Grand Caravan like the headlights, grille, door mirrors and lower fascia. Exterior colors are limited to Bright Silver, Bright Red, Brilliant Black, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat and Storm Grey, and the package's 19-inch wheels come in Gloss Black. Inside, the Journey Blacktop comes standard with black cloth seats and Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, but black leather is also available as an option.

How Dodge dealers are earning the right to sell Hellcats

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

We all hate the idea of the dreaded dealer markup when it comes to buying a highly anticipated new car. Take the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, for example. You might spend hours reading about its supercharged V8 and speccing the model just right in the configurator, but when it finally comes down to laying down the cash, the dealer adds thousands of dollars as a "market adjustment" on the muscle machine of your dreams. As it turns out, when the Hellcat starts hitting showrooms in the third quarter, Dodge is trying to make sure that's not the case.
Dealer orders for the much-hyped Hellcat recently started, but Dodge boss Tim Kuniskis has put some special caveats in place to ensure that the Hellcat makes it to the road quickly. The initial allocation is based on the number of Dodge products that a showroom has sold in the last 180 days, and a second allotment in December is based on the last 90 days of sales and 30-day turnover. "You sell a lot of Darts for me, Journeys for me, Durangos for me, I'm going to give you the rights to this one, too, because this is a halo of the brand," said Kuniskis to Automotive News.
Furthermore, how quickly the Hellcat sells is also going to decide whether showrooms get more of them. "If you want to market-adjust the car, that's your right. But if your days-on-lot goes above what the other guys that are selling them at MSRP is, they will end up earning the allocation because their days-on-lot will be lower," he said to Automotive News. Obviously, this doesn't prevent dealers from marking up the Challenger SRT, but the strategy certainly discourages it.

Chrysler Group moves around execs in wake of recent departure

Tue, 16 Apr 2013

Chrysler is busy shuffling executives around in the wake of Ram head Fred Diaz's departure. The automaker has named Reid Bigland (pictured, right) as Diaz's successor in the role of president and CEO of Ram, though Bigland will continue his duties as the head of US sales and the president and CEO of Chrysler Canada. Bigland first came to Chrysler in 2006 from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, so the guy knows a thing or two about trucks.
Meanwhile, Timothy Kuniskis will take over as president and CEO of Dodge. Previously, he served as the head of Fiat in North America and has been with Chrysler in one capacity or another since 1992. His old title now falls to Jason Stoicevich, who will also continue to work as the director of the automaker's California Business Center. Finally, Bruno Cattori will take over as the president and CEO of Chrysler Mexico.
Diaz left his position to take over as a divisional vice president of sales and marketing with Nissan. You can read the full press release on the Chrysler personnel changes below for more information.
