1966 DODGE CORONET 500

To All: I’m testing the water (winter is coming to northern Virginia - my garage space is in demand by the family) and listing my very nice, driver condition 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 with modified / stroked 383 big block that is a true Mopar torque monster, street legal and ready for local cruise-ins as well as car shows. This classic Coronet 500 two door hardtop has the nostalgic “muscle car” B-Body looks and lines, is well kept, clean and in good operating condition throughout, was originally equipped from the factory with a 318-2bbl V8 and A/C (both are now removed / gone…), A727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission with shift kit and higher stall converter, 8-3/4” rear (now sporting 4.10 gears with Sure Grip unit) with newer B.F. Goodrich Radial P225/70R14 tires and dog dish wheel covers, black front bucket seats with center console, AM radio (not hooked-up), with power steering, light package and undercoating as the only factory options.  Heater core in vehicle, but not connected. This classic Mopar muscle car has aftermarket tach, oil pressure and water temp gauges, with working fuel gauge, lights and approx. 3,750 miles currently showing on the working odometer that is not original based on the motor swap by previous owner. I would rate this vehicle (original AZ car) a very reasonable 7.5 on a scale of 10 for the condition of the exterior paint (RR1 – Light Yellow), body, trim and glass components and a strong 8 for the interior (black vinyl), engine bay and trunk (jack assembly, spare tire, cover board and mat included) areas. Original Fender Tag, CertiCard, Build Sheet, owners manual, receipts and prior owner history information come with the vehicle.

I’ve only owned this classic Dodge for five months, have driven it over 350 miles and enjoyed it every time I fire-it-up, along with the neighbors and locals who applaud the nostalgic muscle car appeal. Based on the above, I’m including the ad listing description below from the prior owner from MI for further details / clarification:

“1966 Dodge Coronet 500, all original metal, original build sheet, certi card, original title history/owner history, originally a 318, now a built to the hilt 383, built by Koffel’s Place (Walled Lake, MI), ported and polished stage 5 heads, coated TTI headers, built 727 auto, full 3 inch exhaust, comes with 2 hoods-fiberglass SS & original painted to match body, comes with 2 intakes - Single and dual plane, steel wheels, dog dish caps, original jack, OE trim, NO PATCH PANELS, new weather strip, this is a sleeper, will run with anything, inspections welcome, this Coronet is right, solid, and mean.”

I have a clear VA Vehicle Title in hand that will not transfer until all funds have cleared.  There is no warranty implied and / or provided for this 47 year old vehicle.  Good Luck bidding and please contact me with any information or additional photo requests.  This classic Mopar is for sale locally via other sources.  Therefore, this ad listing may be removed at any time.

Dodge Durango poised for SRT's devilish power-up

Wed, Jan 11 2017

Does the world need a 707-horsepower Dodge Durango Hellcat? It looks like it's a possibility, according to recent spy shots of a suspicious test mule. But it could also be a Durango powered up with the FCA US 6.4-liter V8 that makes 475 hp. Spy shooters report that the mule captured here sounds like the Hellcat-powered Dodge Chargers and Challengers. Hidden design cues like the fascia suggest this Durango has truly devilish power. There's also a bulging hood with an air intake under the camouflage. So it could be a Durango Hellcat. It's also possible Dodge is dropping the 6.4-liter V8 used in the Grand Cherokee SRT under the hood of the Durango. Engine sharing makes sense, since both FCA SUVs are based on the same platform and built at the same factory in Michigan, though the Durango is longer to accommodate a third row. It is also more logical Dodge would add the 475-hp mill to the Durango's lineup first before going all the way to the 6.2-liter 707-hp Hellcat engine. The most powerful current Durango has a 360-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8. We expect the Durango will get a refresh for 2018. Ram, Jeep redesigns on hold, Alfa Romeo models may come sooner

Wed, Jun 3 2015

Last summer, FCA outlined an ambitious five-year plan that sketched out the company's product intentions for each of its brands through the end of 2018. However, even the best strategies sometimes need tweaking. According to Reuters after speaking with unnamed people at auto suppliers, FCA is now possibly delaying at least a dozen projects in North America for a variety of reasons. From vehicle to vehicle, these postponements allegedly last anywhere from just a few months to over a year. The sources from the suppliers claim that in some cases these tweaks are for engineering and design changes. The next-gen Ram 1500 reportedly has among the shorter delays and is being pushed from mid-2017 to November 2017, according to Reuters. Also, the much-discussed future Jeep Wrangler is allegedly moving a little later to July 2017. Among the vehicles purportedly seeing longer delays, the next-gen Grand Cherokee could get pushed back about a year to 2018. That then forces the launch of the three-row, luxury Grand Wagoneer to be even further away. Jeep's upcoming C-segment CUV and the all-new Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Challenger might also see postponements. The one brand allegedly seeing an accelerated plan is Alfa Romeo. Without going into detail, the sources from these suppliers claim that the Italian automaker is getting even more vehicles for its lineup and could get them even faster than planned. "Those plans need to be flexible and fluid, with the potential to add some vehicles, pull some forward and extend the life cycle of others," FCA said to Reuters about all of these allegations. "We look at these programs on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis." Investment in the auto industry has been a major topic for FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne as of late. He believes consolidation is necessary so that companies aren't burning money on the same projects. John Schneider's General Lee Dodge Charger up for auction

Thu, Jun 25 2015

Over 150 years after it was first adopted, the Confederate flag is disappearing from license plates, state-legislature flagpoles, and even toy cars across the American South. While some are ready to bury those Stars and Bars forever as a symbol of racism and slavery, others will miss them as an emblem of freedom. Regardless of where you stand, the emergence of this particular vehicle on the auction block couldn't have come at a more poignant time. It's a 1969 Dodge Charger, and as you can see it's been done up just like the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. While it may not be one of the cars used in the original television series, it's not without its provenance. The vehicle is the last of four that were customized by John Schneider, the actor who – long after the rebel flag ceases to fly – will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Bo Duke on that timeless television show. It's painted orange, emblazoned with the number 01 on the doors, the words "Bo's General Lee" above each window, and that controversial flag on the roof. It also features signatures and messages inscribed by Schneider, as well as by Sonny Shroyer (who played Deputy Enos Strate on the show), and by sportscaster and former pro basketball player Jalen Rose who once owned the car. It appeared alongside Schneider in commercials and films, and in the pages of the Mopar Collector's Guide. Now it's set to be sold off to the highest bidder this weekend by Invaluable Auctions and Julien's Auctions, where it's expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000 – assuming the latest controversies don't hinder its chances.
