66 Coronet 440 Convertible!

This car is a dream to drive.

Ready to drive desert car that will be enjoyed for the summer...investment quality. These early MOPARs have not dropped in value and this one is ready to hit the 50 year mark in exceptional condition. Enjoy it and pass it down to your children or enjoy it for a while and pass it on to a new buyer. This car will continue to go up in value while enjoy driving and showing off your beautiful convertible. You cannot lose on this car.

Overall:

You are bidding on a low mileage, rust free 1966 Coronet 440 Convertible survivor that has been stored inside and is in excellent overall condition with 77,000 actual miles.

This car has undergone a restoration to make sure it is a safe and beautiful collector car.  Mechanically it is like new and cosmetically it looks and shines beautifully.  This car would do well in any car show and brings compliments everywhere it is driven.

This car spent its life in the dry deserts of Texas and Oklahoma until it was purchased by a collector where it was properly stored indoors and covered.

Rust free desert car with solid floors, doors, hinges, etc.

All body lines are straight. Doors, trunk, and hood line up correctly and close solidly.  This is one of the most solid cars I have seen and does not appear or handle like a 50 year old car.  It is a dream to drive and always receives compliments!

New power steering works excellent with no leaks.

New brakes work solidly and car stops straight.

Tires have no cracks or leaks.

All glass is clear and crack/chip free.

Every option works.

Includes an original 1966 owner’s manual…not a reprint.

Driveline:

Numbers Matching 318 “Polysphere” Cubic Inch Engine and Automatic 3-Speed Transmission.

The original 318 cubic inch V-8 Polysphere factory engine starts easy, runs strong, and does not make any abnormal sounds or smoke. These engines are notorious for their strength and longevity and this one is no exception.  In truth, it runs very QUIET, idles SMOOTH, and accelerates STRONG…this car is a dream to drive.

The automatic transmission shifts into and out of gears easily and shifts between gears solidly.

Exhaust system is quiet and solid with chrome tip.

Engine bay is clean and freshly detailed as pictures show...even small items like the battery tray hold down were replaced during restoration!

Interior:

The instrument panel is 100% functional and original. The gauges were cleaned and the indicator pointers were repainted orange to brighten them up.

Dash is clean, soft, and has no cracks.

Door panels are nice with no cracks or tears as pictures show.

Remote operated rear-view mirror.

Floor Pans are clean and solid as picture shows.

New foil sound deadening underlayment under new carpet as seen in pictures.

Newly upholstered seats with high grade material.  This modern upholstery was custom made and feels much softer and wears much longer than typical on-line factory replacements. They are beautiful and look correct while feeling much more luxurious than typically sold by restoration shops.

The trunk is solid as shown in pictures and very clean with correct size spare, original jack, original wood tire cover insert, and new floor mat.

Exterior:

The paint is newer within the last few years and shines beautifully. Original color was blue but this car looks much better in red and color change was done professionally with no overspray. (i.e. door jams painted, door hinges color matched, trunk and hood hardware and hinges masked, trim removed, strike plates masked, etc.)

The convertible top works correctly and opens/closes smoothly with dash mounted switch.  The hydraulics are smooth running with no leaks or seepage from their new seals.

The original convertible top rear window is discolored and torn.  A new complete top including window, rail pads, staples, instructions, etc. still in the box from “theconvertibletopguys” is provided.

The car sale also includes a correctly fitted, high quality, soft, car cover.

Fiat Chrysler recalls 650,000 Dodge, Jeep SUVs for brake issue

Tue, Oct 3 2017

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said Tuesday it's voluntarily recalling nearly 650,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs to ensure that brake-booster shields were properly installed. The recall affects mostly vehicles sold in the U.S. but also roughly 60,000 combined in Canada and Mexico. The shields were installed in 2014 in conjunction with a recall involving the same set of vehicles, which cover the model years 2011 through 2014. A review of warranty data led to an FCA U.S. investigation that discovered the problem. FCA says it is aware of one potentially related accident, but no injuries. The shields are designed to keep water away from the boosters, lest it cause corrosion or freeze in cold temperatures and negatively affect brake performance. Brakes will still function even if boosters are compromised by water, FCA says, but drivers may experience brake-pedal firmness. In some cases, a potential booster issue may trigger a warning light or activation of the anti-lock brakes. Customers who've observed any of those conditions are urged to contact their dealers. The automaker says it plans to notify affected owners that free service to check and repair the issue if necessary will be available in early November. Junkyard Gem: 1987 Dodge Ram 50 with V8 swap

Sun, Aug 11 2024

Chrysler did very well selling Mitsubishi Forte pickups with Plymouth and Dodge badging in the United States, even after Mitsubishi began moving the same trucks out of their own American dealerships in 1982. The 1987 Ram 50 2WD short bed weighed in at just over 2,500 pounds, so it was reasonably perky with its 2.0-liter G63B four-banger making 90 horsepower… but there's no replacement for displacement! At some point along the line, a Chrysler small-block V8 engine found its way into the engine compartment of this truck, now residing in a car graveyard in Sparks, Nevada. This was the cheapest new Dodge-branded pickup Americans could buy as a 1987 model, though it had to compete with its near-identical Mitsubishi Mighty Max twin for sales. The 1980s were great times for little pickups in the United States, but a desire for bigger cabs and more creature comforts doomed them by the dawn of the following decade. The most interesting thing about this engine swap is that it didn't involve a Chevrolet or Ford small-block V8. Both the Chevy small-block and Ford Windsor V8s are a few inches narrower than the Chrysler LA-series V8, which makes them easier to stuff into a small vehicle. It appears that engine length was the critical dimension in this case, since the Mopar seems to have had enough side-to-side clearance to avoid any slicing of Mitsubishi steel to make it fit. My guess is that whoever did the swap happened to have the engine handy and that's why it's here. Keeping it all Dodge might have been a factor in the decision as well, though the truck's Mitsubishi ancestry makes that unlikely. It was over 100°F out when I found this truck, so I wasn't motivated to check block casting numbers to determine exactly which LA engine we're dealing with here. The easiest LAs to get cheap for the last four or so decades have been the 318 (5.1-liter) and the 360 (5.8-liter), so one of those two is the most likely candidate here. Power levels for these engines got pretty dismal during the Malaise Era, but anyone with the wrenching skills to do this swap would have applied some basic power-enhancing wizardry before the engine went in. We can see there's an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and you might as well stab in a better camshaft if you're upgrading the intake. How much power? With a four-barrel carburetor on a dual-plane intake plus a meaner cam, 300 to 350 horsepower is easily achieved with one of these engines, even with stock exhaust manifolds.

Bid on the incredible George Barris Supervan in Scottsdale

Fri, Jan 22 2016

Barrett-Jackson's upcoming Scottsdale, AZ, auction features the groovy Barris SuperVan, which came from the mind of car customizing legend George Barris. He even autographed the interior. Passengers enter the SuperVan through the hinged windshield, and once inside they can party in style thanks to the roof-mounted disco ball. However, occupants can't get too wild because the massive side windows don't leave much room for privacy. Barris built the van around a 1966 Dodge Tradesman A-100 with a three-speed manual gearbox and a 318-cubic-inch V8. Barris originally called the van the "The Love Machine," and it later had quite a Hollywood career. Its on-screen appearances included the '70s movie SuperVan, and a repainted version served as a Hill Valley Transit bus in Back to the Future II. After his passing at age 89 last year, Barris' creation might see a further boost in value. Barrett-Jackson doesn't offer a price estimate for the SuperVan, but we can't wait to see what this groovy vehicle sells for with no reserve. Collectors already valued Barris' work before his death. For example, his 1960s Batmobile, which was likely Barris' most famous creation, went for $4.62 million at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2013. It was used for many movies and TV shows after that, such as the Hill Valley Transit bus in "Back to the Future II," "Sea Quest" and the 1970 movie "Solar Crisis." The van has been completely restored to its "SuperVan" look and has since been signed by George Barris. Manual transmission.
