Up for auction is one 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8. This charger is adult owned, driven, and maintained.  This charger is smoker free!  I bought this vehicle last year from Florida Dealer in the condition you see it now.  The dealer told me the engine was replaced approximately 8,000 miles ago.  It doesn't burn oil and returns between 20-23 mpg on the highway.  This charger one of the most comfortable highway cruising cars I have ever owned. The A/C blows out cold air and the heated seats are a nice warm hug. I have been to Virginia and back from Chicago twice and have arrived well rested at my destination.

Mechanically this car is 100% stock output with no aftermarket add-ons.  All fluids including; Coolant, Brake, ATF, Power Steering, Differential, and Engine Oil have been completely refreshed this spring. I did not drive it over the winter as it stayed in my garage.  The battery was replaced last summer as were the tires as you can see in the pictures.  I had 275 width Hankook tires installed and they ride very nicely.  I think the wider tires complete the look of a car that has 425 horsepower from the factory.

That number is my current problem.

I have a 15 year old turning 16 this year.  A fast car, high insurance, and a newly licensed teenager don't mix.  I have other toys to keep me busy (motorcycles) but I'm using the funds of this sale to help my teen purchase a safe, sensible, first car that can be used in Chicago winter conditions.

**Disclaimers**
I do have a small lien on the vehicle and they (Pentagon Federal Credit Union) are very quick to mail out a title after their lien is satisfied.

Here is what I know about the history of this car.   When I bought this vehicle, there was a title issue with the mileage.  The owner that had the charger before my dealer purchase didn't pay his bills and this charger was repossessed.  For whatever reason (digital dash? no battery?) they couldn't get the actual mileage before sending this car to auction. So they recorded the vehicle as having only ONE mile.   The dealer had an inspection done after they bought it from auction and the mileage was updated to a mileage of approx 95k.  So just in case you see a rollback warning on the mileage from the carfax report, I wanted to let you know why.  I'm being upfront about what I'd want to know if I were a purchaser.  I am in no rush to sell so I have no reason to sacrifice my integrity.

There are a few scratches and scuffs on the body. The front bumper was not removed correctly when the engine was replaced and I tried my best to show the damage. (Shown in pictures.) There are no dents that I have noticed yet which is amazing for the level of callous people that drive in this region.  The body has a few decals removed along with the door bump trim.  I think it looks pretty nice without it but it is missing.  The interior has Carbon fiber overlay installed on the dash and doors.

If you have any questions, I will answer questions quickly.  No joyrides will be given unless you arrive with cash in hand and a current insurance policy in your name.  This is not a car for beginners or the immature.

The winning bidder is required to place their deposit within 24 hours and contact me with firm details of how they wish to pay the remainder.  If no contact is made or the method of currency is insufficient (ie, turkish Iira, rubles, pesos...)  I will report the winning bidder as a non-payer.  I am serious as you are if you actually want a decent machine for the money.

Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs and liabilities.  Vehicle is sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied.  If you want a charger with a warranty, the dodge dealer will gladly sell you a new charger for $45,000 with a warranty.

I will offer to pick up the winning bidder from either Milwaukee or O'hare Airport at my convenience.

Thank you for reading my listing and here are some pictures.  ( I hate boring dull Ebay ads with no personality)

FCA and Cummins named in diesel emissions class-action lawsuit

Mon, Nov 14 2016

Chrysler is now the first United States-based carmaker to be sued for allegedly skewing emissions results. In a move that sounds eerily similar to the troubles of European manufacturers, Chrysler is claimed to have hid diesel engine characteristics causing emissions as much as 14 times higher than permitted by regulations. According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit alleges that Chrysler, together with its diesel engine partner Cummins, has concealed the nitrogen oxide output of certain Ram vehicles produced between 2007 and 2012. The NOx pollutants were meant to be broken down in a process called regeneration in the truck's NAC system, or NOx Absorption Catalyst, which predated the 2013-introduced SCR, or Selective Catalytic Reduction system. By design, the NAC captures and stores NOx emissions, converting them to nitrogen and oxygen through a catalytic process. The lawsuit claims the Cummins engine's system has a limited capacity to store the emissions, and as a result the pollutants escape, increasing emissions, worsening fuel consumption and wearing down the catalytic converter. The later, cleaner SCR system uses a urea-water injection, and it gradually replaced the NAC on Cummins 6.7-liter engines, as it was first implemented in 2011 and made standard in 2013. As Bloomberg notes, the model years of Ram trucks involved in the lawsuit predate the earliest Volkswagen "Dieselgate" models by two years. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of 500,000 truck owners, accuses Chrysler and Cummins of fraud, false advertising and racketeering. As an underlying motive, the filing mentions a 2001 change in EPA emissions standards. Announced to become effective in 2010, the EPA requirements drove Chrysler and Cummins to try and reach those already by 2007. However, the NAC system is said to have fallen short of these goals, and the filing claims that Chrysler and Cummins chose to "rig" the engines instead. The affected vehicles predate the 2014 merger of Chrysler and Fiat. FCA US has released a statement regarding the lawsuit, saying it will contest the lawsuit "vigorously". 1985 Dodge Omni GLH | eBay Find of the Day

Thu, Mar 7 2019

Cars from the 1980s weren't exactly known for performance. The muscle car days had ended a decade prior, and computer controls and precision engineering standards were still in their infancy. But that doesn't mean the decade was a complete loss for automotive enthusiasts. For proof, take a look at this 1985 Dodge Omni GLH that's currently for sale on eBay. Carroll Shelby's affiliation with Ford was in hiatus (and under litigation in court), but the legendary tuner wasn't content to sit around and do nothing. Shelby turned to Dodge right around the time that the American company was dipping its toes into turbocharging. The partnership led to several interesting vehicles, but perhaps none of them were as unexpected as the Shelby-modified Omni hatchback. The '85 GLH you see above is powered by a turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that sends 146 horsepower to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. These days, that might not sound like a lot of power. But when you consider that the base LG4-code 305-cubic-inch V8 in the Chevy Camaro Z28 spun out 155 hp that same year, you start to understand why the Shelby Omni was a big deal. Suspension changes to the Omni GLH included stiffer springs, firmer shocks, and a lowered ride height that dropped the bodywork closer to its 15-inch aluminum wheels. GLH badging — which, in true Shelby fashion stood for "Goes Like Hell" — and blacked-out bodywork rounded out the updates. Dodge sold 6,513 Omni GLH models in 1985, and just 3,509 were equipped with the turbocharged engine. You'll have to look long and hard to find one that's nicer than this on eBay. The seller claims it's mostly in original condition, and its low odometer reading of 15,901 miles seems to back that up. It's located in Wixom, Michigan, with an asking price of $18,900.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT with 5-speed manual transmission

Sat, Feb 22 2020

When DaimlerChrysler unleashed the Caliber as a Neon replacement for the 2007 model year, the American car-buying world was put on notice that cute transportation appliances would be kicked to the side by the hobnailed boots of a new generation of angry, brutish, truck-influenced transportation appliances. The Caliber sold well enough at first, but eventually blurred into the fleet-car background noise and got shoved aside by the Alfa-derived Dart after 2012. Since I'm always on the lookout for super-rare three-pedal cars while I'm poking around in junkyards, I check out discarded Calibers in the hope of spying such a machine. This work paid off when I spotted this first-model-year '07 in a Northern California yard last month. In fact, the 5-speed manual transmission came as standard equipment on the non-R/T Calibers in 2007, but nearly every Caliber buyer opted to get the continuously variable automatic instead. That odd-looking horizontal shifter rod reminds me of the one in the early-1970s Honda 600. One reason I check out junkyard Calibers is that I'm trying to find a Boston Acoustics "MusicGate" speaker box, an optional rig that went on the inside of the hatch, to use in my next car-parts boombox project. I haven't managed to find one yet, but I'm not giving up. This car is a luxurious SXT, the trim level that squeezed between the bare-bones SE and the high-zoot R/T. When you bought the SXT, you got the pimp-grade Chill Zone™ (a beverage compartment with internal air-conditioner ducts) as standard equipment. Now this rare Caliber sits among the discarded PT Cruisers and Avengers of the yard's Chrysler section, on the flight path of the big C-5s heading into Travis Air Force Base. Dodge's marketers tried hard to make the Caliber look tough, even murderous, the kind of car that would use an old Polara bumper jack to beat cuddly cartoon characters to death in a spray of flying teeth and blood-spattered fur. If all Calibers had come with manual transmissions, perhaps this macho image would have stuck better than it did. This content is hosted by a third party.
