1987 Shelby Dodge Charger GLHS, #302

Here's you chance to buy a nice appreciating  turbo Shelby Dodge Charger. This being car #302 of a 1000 total built in the Shelby- Whittier California plant. The nice thing about this Shelby is that it is a dependable daily driver. Get in it and go. It is titled as a Shelby, not a dodge. Title is clear and  in hand. Current California tags are good for 10 more months. It has not been beat on and heavily modified like most. Small factory upgrades have been made to make this car run trouble free and still compete and out perform most cars that cost 10x as much as this one will cost you. A true sleeper with the Iconic (Shelby) numbered name plate and heritage. All of the Shelby GLHS specific parts are still in place. The MOMO shifter, the speedo overlay, the adjustable shocks, Shelby valve cover etc, I bought this car after it had been sitting indoors for years and went through it front to rear as far as what is needed after any amount of  long time storage. This is a short list of some of the items, New Headliner, these always are gone or sagging. Full dyna mat heat sheild and sound deadening to get rid of rattles and wind noise. New fuel pump, fuel filter, new bigger alternator, new upgraded Shelby computer for the 15lb's of boost, new great lakes motors shift linkage to never miss a gear or have linkage failure to leave you stranded. New 3in high flow cat and tailpipe with 3 in muffler allowing it to breath and pass smog with flying colors.. New wires, distributor, upgraded injectors, K&N high flow air filter. New Hall effect, new a/c system blows freezing cold and the list goes on. This car has had a respray some time ago and does have a solid body and undercarriage. Being a daily driver it does have nicks and bruises, scratches etc and is far from perfect.   The original seats are worn but together, tires are old and need to be replaced. All the glass is good, and now for a list of items that are included in this sale but Ebay does not allow enough room for me to take all the pics needed.

Exterior Factory decal kit.
Grey SRT front bucket seats.
Factory rear louvers.
Factory manuals.
4 Factory 1987 GLHS wheels right out of  AL Reeds polish shop, like new.
4 pizza  factory wheels.
GLHS Mobil 1 badge
Front suspension brace.

These are most of the items, there are a few more that I am forgetting as well.
Get in and drive it home, take it to the next level or drive it as is.......Being sold as is.

This or That: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 vs. 2005 Subaru WRX STI [w/poll]

Thu, May 7 2015

Some cars, due to ultimate desirability, particular rareness, or spectacular performance/prestige eventually become collectible. It's darn near impossible to know which ones will make it into the rarefied stratosphere of collectibility – why is a late 1960s AMC AMX so affordable these days, whereas prices for late '70s Pontiac Trans Ams are soaring? – but there are some useful indicators to keep tabs on. We're not exactly experts on investing, but we do know cars. As such, we've decided to take our non-expertise on one hand, combine it in the other with our knowledge of all things automotive, wad it up, throw it out and ask for your forgiveness. Or something like that. I've challenged Senior Editor Seyth Miersma to choose a car he thinks will become a future collector's item that's not more than 10 years old, and for no more than $25,000. I've done the same, and we vigorously argued for and against each other's picks. I feel good about my choice, but I don't have the best track record in these contests (I've lost three times, won twice, but they've all been pretty close), so, while I'm not going to beg (please vote for me!), I do hope you find my argument convincing. But first, let's hear from Seyth: Miersma: Ten-years old or newer makes this challenging. At that age most vehicles feel like a plain old used car to me, few hit the "classic" button. But the Subaru WRX STI has always been a special car, and the 2005 cutoff year proves to be very attractive for the parameters of our contest. It's rare; with fewer than 5,000 STI models sold that model year. It's probably the best looking WRX STI ever sold in America; narrowly avoiding the dreadful "horse collar" front fascia. And it's got one of the more die-hard car-geek followings out there. For $25,000, you can also still find examples that have reasonable miles, are in good condition, and haven't all been molested by grown-up Initial D wannabes. With the street racers hacking up collectable examples every day, I like my odds for steep appreciation by way of conservation. I couldn't agree more. It really is difficult to predict what cars will catch the eye of collectors, and the WRX STI seems like a pretty good choice. But I think mine is even better, and I can't let him know that I'd love to park just such an STI in my very own garage. And so goes my argument: Korzeniewski: I like your choice as a driver, Seyth. I'm less convinced of its status as a sure-fire collectible.

Chrysler Recalling 870,000 SUVs For Brake Defect

Wed, Apr 2 2014

Chrysler is recalling nearly 870,000 SUVs because corrosion may make the vehicles' brakes harder to use. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2011 through 2014 model years are involved. Chrysler says crimp joints in the brake boosters can corrode if they're exposed to water. If the water freezes, the boosters won't aid braking as they usually do. Chrysler began investigating after some customers said their brakes felt too firm when pressed down. The company knows of one accident, but no injuries, due to the defect. Dealers will install a shield to protect the boosters for free and replace boosters that aren't working properly. Chrysler has since changed the design to make the boosters more corrosion resistant. Chrysler will notify owners of the recall, which involves 867,795 vehicles. Best and worst car brands of 2022 according to Consumer Reports

Thu, Feb 17 2022

It's that time again, Consumer Reports this morning lifting the curtain on its 2022 Annual Car Brand rankings and its 10 Top Picks in the car, crossover, and truck category. Drumroll, please: This year, Subaru climbs two spots to claim the winner's circle, having come third the last two years. Last year, Mazda climbed three spots from 2020 to take the crown. This year, Mazda slipped to second, BMW taking the last spot on the podium, also a one-spot drop from 2021. Six automakers in the top 10 hailed from Japan, which is one more than last year, and five luxury makers occupied the top 10, which is two more than last year. And South Korean representation didn't crack the top this year, after Hyundai managed tenth last year. The seven makes after BMW are: Honda, Lexus, Audi, Porsche, Mini, Toyota, and Infiniti.  The magazine and testing concern says its Brand Report Card "[reveals] which automakers are producing the most well-performing, safe, and reliable vehicles based on CR’s independent testing and member surveys," and that "Brands that rise to the top tend to have the most consistent performance across their model lineups." The domestics also took steps back among the 32 OEMs ranked on the 2022 card. Chrysler and Buick were the domestic carmakers who made last year's top 10 in eighth and ninth, respectively. This year, Buick dropped to eleventh, Chrysler to thirteenth. Dodge went from fourteenth to sixteenth. CR continues to ding Tesla's yoke steerer, the not-exactly-natural handhold responsible for the electric carmaker going from sixteenth last year to twenty-third this year.
