1970 Dodge Charger on 2040-cars
Melville, New York, United States
|
Viper yellow and black 1970 Dodge Charger. Strong 383cc
engine , 727 trans, 4 speed pistol grip, edelebrock 750 carb, new battery, new
plugs, new distributer, new wires, new rear shocks, Crager rims, cooper tires,
new traction bars, all chrome in great shape. All original gauges (Speedometer
and tic toc tach do not work. Installed aftermarket speedo and tach on column),
drum brakes in rear, disc brakes in front. All original glass, knobs and
emblems in great shape. Flip headlight covers do not work but everything is
intact including motor...just needs to be refurbished. Small power steering
leak (have new hose but haven’t had time to install), No A/C. Heat works but
hoses just need to be reinstalled (removed hoses to clean up the engine
compartment) This car is a strong eye-catching, above average driver,
not a show car (reserve price takes this into account). Car was purchased 7
years ago and has been garaged ever since - never taken out in rain, only
driven on sunny days. Please review the pics and email me if there are any
other areas / parts you would like to see or questions you would like answered. All in all it's a loud, fast old school American muscle
car that's a blast to drive and draws attention wherever it goes. The car is available for sale locally so I reserve the
right end the auction early. Please note that sale is binding and final. Car is sold
"as is" and "where is". A $1000 non-refundable deposit via
paypal is due within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment due within 7 days
of auction close. On Apr-28-14 at 12:29:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Note - Vehicle is a manual 4 speed with pistol grip shifter NOT a 727 automatic trans. Fender tag shows "D32" which is the correct code for 727 trans. However, this vehicle is now a 4 speed manual. |

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Dodge Neon AAR
Sun, Oct 20 2019Chrysler sold the Neon in North America for the 1995 through 2005 model years, with respectable sales for most of that period. The Neon had decent power for the price, and could be very quick on a road course in the hands of a good driver. With so many made, the Neon came to have a strong aftermarket for performance and customizing components, and many owners opted to spruce up their cars for added coolness. Here's a last-year-of-production Dodge Neon SXT with some SRT-4 body components and aftermarket "AAR" stripes, spotted in a self-service yard in Fargo, N.D. Chrysler sold AAR-badged Plymouth 'Cudas in 1970, inspired by Dan Gurney's All American Racers team in SCCA racing, and the stripes on those cars looked great. However, no factory-made AAR Neons ever came off the assembly line, so the owner of this car applied these aftermarket stripes. The VIN tells me it's an ordinary Neon SXT. The SRT-4 hood looks mean. While this car does have a proper manual transmission, its power came from a distinctly non-SRT naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter 16-valve engine. With 132 horses, this car would have been reasonably quick. Brake calipers look better with the application of a little spray paint. Someone loved this car very much, so it made me sad to see it among all the rust victims of Fargo. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Weekly Recap: New bosses try to jump-start Cadillac and Lincoln
Sat, 26 Jul 2014
Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene
Tue, 13 May 2014Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.
