1969 Dodge Charger, 383 car.  I would call condition Driver Quality.  Please view pictures for best description of the overall condition.  All the parts I have for the car are on it, so if you don't see it I don't have it - sorry.  Underneath of the car looks very good, no rust that I can see in the rails or torque boxes.  Some rust/soft areas in the inner fender wells, but overall remarkably good condition underneath for a '69 Charger.

Paint:  Paint is not ideal, 15 footer, has the following defects:  Paint has rust in the exterior of the hood (see pics), 2 rust spots on tail light panel (see pics), 1 spot on rear lower valance where bondo was used, large scratch down passenger side low (see pics), and other miscellaneous scratches/dings etc.  The good: quarters were replaced, trunk floor appears to have been replaced, and from >15ft or at night the car looks great.  Could easily fix the bad spots with a color match, I haven't tried to cover any of it.  The R/T stripe,  badge, and Hemi stickers were added (this is not an R/T or Hemi Car).

Engine:  The 383 runs very strong, obviously rebuilt at some point.  Car has not been driven in a while, other than started periodically in storage so it needs to get out and run.  Fuel tank is recent, new fuel filter, carb was disassembled and cleaned recently.  Idles good, no hesitation, gets up and goes.

Interior:  Needs to be redone/reupholstered.  Original headliner, dash pad, missing the correct rear seat, some genius put in a rear seat from a '74 that obviously doesn't fit right.  I do have a blue original 1969 rear seat I can include for a $350 adder to the final sale price.  Floors are good, has fiberglass in the driver side, I would have used metal personally but it's solid and doesn't flex.

Mechanical:  Just finished a brake job on the car, drums up front and in back.  Car will have a new brake booster (not shown in pics).  Has a popping noise in the front suspension, needs to be rebuilt.   Car needs new tires, they are bad.  I have the 4th 14" wheel and it is included in the auction (I will keep the rally wheel and put a roller in it's place).  The front headlight wiring harness is missing (from the connector at the batter tray to the headlights) and the vacuum equipment/lines is missing so headlights do not work. Obviously doors can be lifted manually.  My recommendation would be to have the front end rebuilt (I think the kit is $300-400) before the car will be road worthy.  Motor runs strong so no worries there.

I've described the car to the best of my ability, I have 100% feedback, and intend to keep it that way.  Please ask any questions, I will answer accordingly.

Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  Overseas bidders are welcome, and I have sold cars over the years worldwide feel free to check my excellent feedback on those transactions.  Vehicle will not leave my possession until funds post in full.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding on this '69 Charger, and please check my other auctions as I have 4 cars that will be up for sale (1970 Dodge Charger, 1969 Firebird,  1968 Chevelle) to fund my new projects.

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.

One Lap of America, with three times the madness

Tue, May 15 2018

Instead of celebrating last weekend face down in a sombrero full of tequila-spiked OJ and a few lime wedges, 71 racing teams with one set of tires each and no support crews began Cinco De Mayo — and this year's 35th running of the One Lap of America — by hitting the wet skid pad at Tire Rack's headquarters in South Bend, Ind. There were Porsches, Vettes, Camaros and BMWs galore. There was a Miata, a vintage NSX, a Honda S2000 and even an old VW Rabbit. There were GTIs, the odd Evo and, oh yeah, six Toyotas, a couple of Vipers and a couple of GTRs. When the skidding stopped, a 2011 BMW 1M emerged triumphant and led the pack out into the heartland, where it will spend 5,000 miles this week hitting road courses, dragstrips and time trials at tracks as far west as Denver, as south as Fort Worth and then New Orleans. From there, it will barrel north through Mississippi, Alabama, Nashville, Kentucky and back home again to Tire Rack in Indiana. Twenty events, eight venues, with a three-hour window for each event. It's a nonstop, no-sleep, one-week road trip comprising 150-ish friends and brothers, partiers and pro racing drivers, spouses and other family-member combo packs. Some will never speak to each other again, some might end up divorced, some might get married. All of them are nuts. I know this because I made three laps. Three laps I will never forget.LAP ONE: 1984 Vehicle: 1984 Dodge Van Team #0: Jean Lindamood (Jennings), Walker Evans, Parnelli Jones I was present for the inaugural 1984 One Lap of America because I worked at Car and Driver back then and so did Brock Yates. He was the guy who came up with the clandestine, illegal, unsanctioned Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash from Connecticut to Redondo Beach, Calif. It ran five times in the 1970s, with Yates joining Dan Gurney in a Ferrari Daytona for the second run. They won, Gurney insisting that "at no time did we exceed 175 miles per hour." One Lap was born of Cannonball nostalgia (read: Brock was bored), and I was beyond game for it. After securing a van from Dodge and two giant decals for the van sides, along with $5,000 in sponsorship from local Detroit Stroh's Brewery, I coaxed my friend, nine-time Baja 1000 winner Walker Evans, into running One Lap by suggesting he didn't have a hair on his ass if he refused. Then I suggested that if he didn't get his best friend and longtime road trip buddy, Parnelli Jones, to go with us, I would actually have to drive the van, too.

Dodge could return to NASCAR, Marchionne says

Mon, Dec 5 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne said he'd "love to" bring Dodge back to NASCAR. The news could signal a potential shift in America's favorite motorsport away from today's three-manufacturer arrangement, but we're wondering just how much sense Dodge's return would make amid NASCAR's dwindling television ratings and attendance figures. It took a visit from Ferrari at NASCAR's biggest icon, Daytona International Speedway, for the Ferrari Challenge World Finals to get Marchionne on the subject of Dodge and stock car racing. When asked about the possibility on Sunday, the FCA boss revealed he'd just spoken to NASCAR executive vice president Jim France the night before about Dodge's return. Dodge announced its NASCAR departure in 2009, as it was in the grips of a major bankruptcy alongside cross-town rival General Motors. While GM's Chevrolet brand stuck it out and won three of the last four manufacturer championships, the final Mopar-powered team flipped to Ford in 2012. Marchionne takes the blame for the decision, citing reasons that are, frankly, very good. "I am the guilty party at the table. In 2009 we came out of bankruptcy; we couldn't [justify] racing in NASCAR when I was trying to pay bills and make payroll," Marchionne said, according to Autoweek. "I think we're in a different place now." NASCAR is in a different place, too. The sport has struggled with disappointing television ratings in the past several years, and it's not uncommon to tune into races at some of the sport's marquee tracks, like Bristol Motor Speedway, and see scores of empty seats. Sponsorship dollars are also drying up. That could explain Marchionne's non-committal follow-up comments. "We need to find the right way to come back in," Marchionne said, adding that he'd revisit the idea with Jim France and International Speedway Corporation CEO and NASCAR board member Lesa France Kennedy "in short order."
