Decided to sell the misses 1969 Dodge Charger R/T. 440 (#'s matching) survivor. Stripe delete Air-conditioned power window car that has lived it's life in CA since 1970. She is the 3rd owner. (she bought it in '12, and brought it to NY ) Incredibly solid car and right now is a great driver quality muscle car. As far as I can tell, the heads haven't even been off this motor. Runs great and easily cruises down the interstate at 70! All new front end bushings, shocks all the way around, and all braking components have been replaced. Car stops great with the 4 wheel HD drum brakes due to the fact that the car came equipped with a factory "trailoring" package. Some bubbling on the lower passenger rear quarter, and some rust at the driver's side cowl at the windshield (pics) and that's it for corrosion. Car was shot with undercoating sometime during it's life and is even sprayed on the underside of the hood. Looks kinda "choochy" but the metal has been preserved perfectly! It does have it's dings and scratches but hey, it's 45 years old and is driven. Original sheet metal but you can see that there has been some dent removal on the passenger side rear quarter. For reasons unknown, the previous(or the original) owner, filled the gap between the passenger rear quarter and the trunk spring support with spray foam(pic). (WT....!) Apparently, we were told, that it was the original owner who that "brush" painted the scratches and paint imperfections on the car and he did some poor work. But, on the plus side, the paint matched perfectly and protected the metal.  Bumpers, wheels, shocks, brakes, and suspension bushings were replaced by the previous owner. Radiator and the air conditioning compressor are not original. Seats were recovered at one point too with cloth (I'd guess in the '80's) but tastefully done. Guess they didn't want to sit on black vinyl in the California sun. Front carpet needs to be replaced. I also have the original radio that comes with. Tires are practically new Goodyear Eagles. You can drive this Charger to any and all car shows! Or restore it to original if you'd like. I hate to see her sell it but she wants new. Ugh! I've included a bunch of pictures and I'll get pics of the undercarriage up here as soon as the lift becomes available. I'll also get a pic of the engine stamp plate to verify the numbers for you. I think the car is being listed with a very reasonable reserve. If you don't plan on buying and paying for the car, DO NOT BID. CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY AND I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME, DUE TO SALE. All are invited and encouraged to come inspect before bidding. Thanks for your interest and consideration. I will answer any and all questions as quickly as I can. Car and registration will not be released until all funds are cleared by my bank. Cash is nice :) $500 non-refundable deposit due within 2 days of auctions end. Buyer responsible for all transport costs.

Cold start comparison: 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio vs. 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Thu, May 7 2020

The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a five-seat, compact luxury sport sedan packing 505 horsepower thanks to a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6. My personal 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 is ... well ... not. It's a full-sized muscle coupe whose iron-block 6.4-liter V8 makes 470 hp in the very traditional way: it's freakin' huge, like everything else about the car.  On paper, these two have nothing in common beyond the fact that they were built by the same multi-national manufacturing entity.  But if paper were the be-all and end-all of automotive rankings, everybody would buy the same car. And we don't, especially as enthusiasts. Whether it's looks or tuning or vague "intangibles" or something as simple as the way a car sounds, we often put a priority on the things that trigger our emotions rather than setting out to simply buy whatever the "best" car is at that particular moment.  So, what do these two have in common? They both sound really, really good. Like looks, sounds are subjective. While a rubric most assuredly exists in the world of marketing (attraction is as much a science as any other human response), we have no way of objectively scoring the beauty of either of these cars, and the same applies to the qualities of the sound waves being emitted through their tail pipes.  But we can measure how loud they are. In fact, there's even an app for that. Dozens, as it turns out. So, I picked one at random that recorded peak loudness levels, and set off to conduct an entirely pointless and only vaguely scientific experiment with the two cars that happened to be in my garage at the same time.  For the test, I opened up a window and cracked the garage door (so as not to inflict carbon monoxide poisoning upon myself in the name of discovery), and then placed my phone on a tripod behind the center of each car's trunk lid. I fired each one up and let the app do the rest. I then placed my GoPro on top of the trunk for each test so that I could review the video afterward for any anomalies.  I started with the Challenger. The 6.4-liter Hemi under the hood of this big coupe is essentially the same lump found under the hood of quite a few Ram pickups, and it has the accessories to prove it. Its starter is loud and distinctive. Almost as loud, it turns out, as the exhaust itself. As its loud pew-pew faded behind the V8's barking cold start, we recorded a peak of 83.7 decibels. In the app's judgment, that's roughly the equivalent of a busy street.

Stellantis reports record margins, $7B profits despite chip shortage

Tue, Aug 3 2021

MILAN — Automaker Stellantis on Tuesday said it achieved faster-than-expected progress on synergies and record margins in its first six months as a combined company, despite suffering 700,000 units in lower production due to interruptions in the semiconductor supply chain. The company — formed from French carmaker Peugeot PSAÂ’s takeover of the Italian-American company Fiat Chrysler — reported net profit of 5.9 billion euros ($7 billion) in the first half of 2021, compared with a loss 813 million euros during the same period a year earlier, which was impacted by the coronavirus restrictions around the globe. Shipments rose 44% to 3.2 million units, while revenues rose 46% to 75 billion euros. “We are very pleased with the speed with which the new team has begun to execute as one company, as Stellantis,Â’Â’ Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer told reporters. Semiconductor shortages accounted for 200,000 units of production losses in the first quarter and 500,000 in the second quarter. Semiconductors are used more than ever before in new vehicles with electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver assist, navigation and hybrid electric systems. Stellantis achieved 1.3 billion euros in cost savings in the first half, mostly by sharing investments in new technologies and platforms, which Palmer said was a faster rate than initially forecast. It aims to achieve 80% of the targeted 5 billion in cost savings by 2024. “These synergies allow us to continue to invest in the electrification strategy, which we talk about every day,” Palmer said. Stellantis, which lags competitors in rolling out electric vehicles, plans to launch 21 fully electric or plug-in gas electric hybrid vehicles over the next two years. North American posted record profitability on global sales of Ram trucks and the strong launch of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which was the best-selling plug-in gas electric vehicle in the United States in the second quarter. Stellantis was the market leader in South America and second in Europe. The results were presented on a pro-forma basis, taking into account the performance of each of the carmakers as separate entities during 2020. 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has 707 glorious horsepower [w/video]

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

Hold onto your butts. "600-plus horsepower" is what we were told to expect from the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine. But as we've just learned, those were incredibly conservative numbers. Dodge has officially announced that the range-topping Challenger will hit the asphalt with 707 - seven hundred and seven - horsepower, making it the "most powerful muscle car ever."
Of course, 707 hp is only part of the story, as the Hellcat has also been confirmed to produce 650 pound-feet of torque. All that power will run exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that differs from other Challengers. The new gearbox, 8HP90 (rather than the 8HP70) is "upgraded to handle the extra power and torque," says Dan Reid, SRT's manager of product design and motorsports.
We certainly hope you're prepared to spend a ton of money replacing tires.
