BACKSTORY PLEASE READ - I am selling this 1971 Dodge Challenger for a friend. He is having medical problems and can no longer finish this project. He bought the car from Kentucky as a project. The previous owner started restoring the car and lost the VIN. It had a new VIN assigned and was titled as rebuilt. When we cleaned out the car we found the original VIN. I don't know if it can be titled back to the original VIN.

CAR - 1971 Dodge Challenger 318 auto. I believe it was originally light yellow. The interior is black with buckets and a floor console.

BODY - The body is in pretty nice shape for its age. It has minor rust in the usual places. The floors have a few spots. The trunk was the worst and has been removed. It is ready for a new one to be welded in. The doors, fenders and deck lid are in nice shape. A repo rear valance is included. A '70 & a '72 front valance are included. Also included is a fiberglass Shaker hood set up. The engine bay has been cut in with Sassy Grass Green. The base color to complete the paint job is included. All glass is intact and looks decent.

TRIM - The grille & headlight bezels are in really nice shape. The tail lights and argent filler panel are in nice shape too. The windshield & rear window trim and drip moldings look nice. Flip top gas cap also included.

DRIVETRAIN - The car was originally 318 powered, but that motor is long gone. It now has a 440 with a 727 auto and an 8 3/4 differential. (you need driveshaft)

Engine - '71 440 block w/ steel crank - needs machine work. Includes: Wisco 6 pack pistons (.030); LY rods with ARP rod bolts; 906 heads - have been redone with bronze valve guides and 3 angle valve job - painted w/ POR 15 Hemi orange paint; brand new Comp Cam .501 lift cam; new double roller chain set; Mopar electronic ignition distributor; a Moroso 7 quart pan w/ pick up; an Edelbrock 440 Torker intake; a Barry Grant Demon 850 double pumper - rebuilt with BG metering blocks & a water pump housing with a high volume water pump. (you will need gasket set, rod, main & cam bearings, lifters and pushrods.)

Transmission - 727 trans has been rebuilt with a performance shift kit & a deep pan with cooling tubes. (I have a stock 11" convertor w/ flex plate - you may want higher stall convertor)

        Differential - B Body 8 3/4 housing. 489 (non posi) carrier w/ 3.23 gears (needs gone through). Also includes 741 carrier w/ 2.93 gears.

SUSPENSION & BRAKES - The front suspension has been rebuilt & converted to disc brakes. The rear brakes have been redone. KYB front shocks and new air shocks in the rear.

INTERIOR - The car has a mostly complete black interior. The dash needs recovered and has a non-R/T cluster. Front door panels are fair. One has a crack. Rear panels look decent. Kick panels are decent. Rear seats are original but still looks decent. The front seats are from a '72 and have been recovered. The floor console is decent. (you will need carpet & console woodgrain decal.)

CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY. I may end this auction at any time. SOLD AS IS WHERE IS WHAT IS. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. CAR IS A GREAT PROJECT.

CASH PREFERRED - ALL CHECKS MUST CLEAR PRIOR TO VEHICLE BEING PICKED UP. I won't release the car the same day with a check.

Car will need dollied.

The car is in a storage facility on the NE side of San Antonio. The storage is month to month and can be transferred. If you need extra time to get the car out you can pay the $70 monthly fee for as long as you need to get the car.

Cruiser's close call caught on camera

Mon, Dec 21 2015

A new recruit to the Kansas Highway Patrol experienced his first brush with danger on his first day when a semi truck clipped his cruiser during a traffic stop last week. Public relations officer Tod Hileman said in a Facebook post that the incident occurred when an officer and his brand-new trainee pulled over a black Dodge Charger on I-70 in Trego County, Kansas. Hileman said in the comments that the cruiser was parked two feet away from the white line on the shoulder. Not only did the driver not get over a lane when he saw the stopped cruiser per Kansas law, he seemed to have moved closer to the side of the road. The big rig managed to send the cruiser's side mirror and spotlight flying across the road. The truck could have easily injured one of the officers, perhaps fatally. The truck driver ignored Kansas' Move Over law, which requires "drivers approaching a stationary emergency vehicle displaying flashing lights, including towing and recovery vehicles, traveling in the same direction, to vacate the lane closest if safe and possible to do so, or slow to a speed safe for road, weather, and traffic conditions." With a clear lane to his left the trucker in this case had no excuse. He stopped after the crash and was cited by the officers for failing to change lanes when he saw the stopped vehicles. Being a cop is a risky job. So far this year, 28 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty due to car accidents, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:

The 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit will always watch your back

Thu, Feb 9 2017

Police cruisers spend the majority of their life parked and idle, waiting for the call to action. A parked car is a vulnerable one, especially when there may be incentive to disable or destroy that vehicle. FCA has worked with InterMotive, Inc., to supply safety technology that will detect movement behind the vehicle through the combined use of radar and the rear-view camera. Even better, FCA is putting this tech in every 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit at no extra cost. According to InterMotive, the Officer Protection Package is designed to help awareness with an officer is parked and working inside the vehicle. The system will provide an alert if there is anyone moving behind the vehicle to ambush the officer. The system plugs into the OBDII port and is secured under the dash. The device can then be manually switched on. This triggers the rear parking sensors to activate and. If any movement is detected, the officer can look behind the car through the rear-view camera. The system will automatically lock the doors, roll up the windows and flash the taillights. No word on how much the system will cost for non-2017 vehicles, but it is available for order right now.
