Offered for your consideration is a 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 6.4L with 5,875 miles wrapped in Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat with the SRT Charcoal Leather Interior. The car was originally purchased new in Jacksonville, FL and the owner resided in Mooresville, NC. While en route to Florida, the owner's teenaged son was involved in an accident in the Summer 2013 in the car with less than 1,800 miles on the odometer. The owner elected not to repair the damage to the car and we were able to purchase the car directly from his Insurance Company.

The car was not salvaged by the insurance company as a result of the accident, and the vehicle's title was transferred to be Rebuilt after the claim of loss from the original owner. I acquired the vehicle and contractually agreed to have the car professionally repaired by a licensed Dealer and repair facility. I spared no expense in the repair of the vehicle; and all new Dodge Challenger SRT8 parts were used. There is no body filler; body panel repair; or ever any structural damage to the vehicle. All damage was along the passenger side of the car; and the following body panels were replaced with new Dodge SRT8 parts: Right Fender / Right Front Door / Right Rocker / Right Inner Fender Apron / Rear Bumper. The car has undergone a thorough State of Georgia Motor Vehicle Inspection Report which included a Parts and Labor Certification. The report verifies that the car sustained "no chassis or engine damage, and that all VIN numbers match on the dash, chassis, engine and transmission."

All documentation verifying the repairs noted above and subsequent inspection, will be provided to the new owner.

Simply put: when in doubt, I elected to make the car as good as new. This includes a complete professional paint job in the original Billet Silver Clear Coat; finished with two coats of show clear and staged wet sanding by AutoGlo in Atlanta, GA totaling $4,600.

The car is free of liens. The new Georgia Certificate of Title is issued to me; and the 2014 Ad Valorem Tax based on the FMV Assessment of $42,700.00 has been paid.

Now to the good stuff. I purchased the car for my 50th B-Day and have thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle. The car is as near flawless as any new car in a dealer's showroom. The car has always been stored indoors, and has never seen a sprinkle of rain. I have enjoyed the last 2,000 miles immensely, and regret to see the car go. The car just received it's first scheduled service at 6,000 miles, early.

The car has every available option including:

  • UConnect Voice-Command and Bluetooth
  • UConnect 730N Touchscreen with Navigation
  • Sirius XM Satellite Radio
  • 900 Watt, 18-speaker Harmon Kardon Audio Group
  • Anti-Theft Alarm System

Life has intervened, and the responsibility of my own teenaged kids mandates the sale of my beloved SRT8, unexpectedly.

Below details $4,972 in improvements, not including any Labor Costs, that are included on this vehicle:

I. Suspension

  • Eibach Pro-Kit Performance Springs (Front: -1.0"; Rear: -1.5" - Black) - $275
  • Eibach  Performance Sway Bars (Front: 35mm; Rear: 19mm - Red) - $467
  • Sway bars 50% stiffer in front; 100% stiffer in rear; and required 9.5 hours ($1,200) in Labor costs for installation
  • DC Sports CSB1102 Custom CS2 Strut Tower Bar (Front) - $250

II. Performance

  • Corsa Xtreme Cat-Back Stainless Exhaust System - $1,450
  • EBC Performance Brake Rotors (Cross-Drilled, Slotted, Hubs and Vents Ceramic Coated Black) - $625
  • EBC Performance 3000 Brake Pads for Brembo - $470
  • K&N Blackhawk Series 71 Cold-Air-Intake (Black) - $275
  • Billet Specialties Hemi Crank-Case Oil Catch-Can (Powder Coated Black) - $150
  • Jet Racing 180-degree Thermostat - $40
  • DiabloSport In Tune i-1000-DCX ECU Programmer (Custom 93 Octane Tune) - $450

III. Miscellaneous

  • Mopar Short-Throw Shifter (Brushed Aluminum) - $125
  • Mopar Fuel Door and Surround (Powder Coated Black) - $185
  • Aries 3D Custom Floor Liners - $125
  • New Dodge Challenger Mats Included
  • New Billet Wheel Lugs (Powder Coated Black) - $85

This is your chance to purchase a loaded Challenger SRT8 with all the improvements noted above at a great value. I can't think of a better way to convey that I intended to keep this vehicle forever than the effort and expense illustrated by the modifications above.

The Buy-it-Now Offering Price of $38,500 poses a remarkable value for the new Purchaser; and a significant loss for me.

The car is located in Atlanta, GA and available for inspection anytime.

Thank you for your consideration.

Dodge idles Viper production again at Conner Avenue

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

You've got to hand it to Dodge for having the gumption to put the original Viper into production in the first place. It was, after all, much more of an emotional decision than a practical one, and a move which saw the first production V10 engine placed in a road car - long before the advent of the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche Carrera GT or Lexus LFA, not to mention the other Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group models that used such engines.
It's now been 22 years since the first Viper entered production and the Viper still rolls on several generations later, but we're sad to say that courageous decision has not always been met with overwhelming sales success. In fact parent Chrysler was forced to idle the Conner Avenue plant where the Viper is made back in April due to slow sales. And while production resumed again as planned on June 23, it apparently didn't do the trick.
As a result, Chrysler corporate communications chief Shawn Morgan revealed to Autoblog that the assembly line has been shut down again for another two weeks. The line was up and running for nearly two full work weeks from June 23 until the holiday weekend that started on Thursday, July 3. But instead of coming back online today as planned, it's been idled again for the weeks of July 7 and 14. That means it will be July 21, at the earliest, before the serpentine supercars start slithering down the assembly line at Conner Avenue again. Once it does, however, production is set to resume at the same pace it was before the shutdown.

7 major automakers to build open EV charging network

Wed, Jul 26 2023

A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not.  "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche.  In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure.  "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.

Chrysler almost smothered the Hellcat before it lived

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Chrysler's 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 was an absolute sensation from the very moment it was announced, and honestly, how could it not have been? Packing 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, its numbers immediately put every other production muscle car (and many supercars) to shame. Plus, we soon learned that would be wrapped in a package retailing for around $60,000 - a pittance compared to other vehicles offering similar grunt. However, the Hellcat almost never got the chance to rumble under the hood of the Challenger and Charger.
The Hellcat was initially proposed back in 2011, back when Fiat was deciding its future strategy for Chrysler Group, according to Automotive News. At the time, the company was just emerging from its bankruptcy doldrums, and an ultra-high-performance V8 wasn't exactly a must-have item. The program didn't move forward. However, SRT engineers kept fighting, according to AN, and four months later, they received the green light to pull the project off the shelf and continue developing the Hellcat. The muscle car world is certainly better for that decision.
The work of those engineers focused on taking Chrysler's standard 6.2-liter V8 and making it reliably handle all of the extra power from the supercharger. "It came down to micron levels of changes in the crank to be able to withstand the pressures of the engine," said Chris Cowland, director of advanced and SRT powertrain, to Automotive News. The changes amounted to switching out about 91 percent of the parts to make the Hellcat, including some quite minuscule alterations. For example, the washer holding the supercharger pulley is embedded with industrial diamonds to keep it from slipping.
