2012 Bright White Dodge Challenger Srt8 6 Spd Manual on 2040-cars
Show Low, Arizona, United States
I’m listing my Like New, Not Even Broken in yet 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with only 500 miles!!! I purchased it new from Gladstone Dodge in Missouri back in July 2013. I just don’t have the time to enjoy it so I’ve decided to sell it. I believe this Challenger to be 1 of only 299 Bright White SRT8 Challengers with the 6 speed manual transmission done in 2012. The interior is flawless and even smells new. I bought some heavy duty custom fit rubber mats that will stay with it to keep the carpet clean. Exterior is almost perfect. I say almost because there is a small chip near one of the fog lights and another on the passenger side door jam. The car could use a good buffing or the once over with a clay bar. When Gladstone Dodge put on the paint protectant (Mopar Master Shield, its awesome stuff) the car wasn’t properly cleaned. So you can see some dirt under that protectant; from a few feet away you won’t notice anything. I'm very particular about my cars and try to be as upfront as possible, no surprises here. My dad purchase a Challenger from the same dealer at the same time and had the same problem; he took a clay bar to it and now the paint feels like glass. All of the books, manuals, CD, window sticker, 2 keys and anything else that might be of interest to the new owner will come with the car. It has the radio controls on the steering wheel, Blu-Tooth, home link, big 20” rims, touch screen and the Sirius subscription runs until August (I think). It is a stripe delete car. Massive power from the Hemi, but with the MDS you can still get decent gas mileage for a car with 470 HP! The performance menu on the trip computer is too cool as it measure 1/4 mile times, 0-60, braking from 60 etc. The windows were tinted by the dealer.
I have the title in hand for a quick and smooth transaction; PRIVATE SELLER. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal or Cash within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The balance is due in Cash, Certified Funds or Loan Check within 7 days of the close of the auction. If you don’t have the means to buy the car, don’t bid. This is not a fire sale by any means and I feel that the car is priced right. I live about 3 hours NE of Phoenix and there is an airport in Show Low should you want to fly in. I welcome inspections and will be as accommodating as I can, but will not tolerate joyrides. If you come to pick up the car and drive home, great! She’ll be ready to go. If you decide to ship the car, any costs are yours / buyer responsibility. I have the Challenger for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. Any questions ask away! Mileage
could change slightly. On Jan-27-14 at 09:51:53 PST, seller added the following information: I was doing so research online on production numbers when I first got the Challenger and was finding various info. So I decided to contact Chrysler directly; I provided my VIN number and was told according to their records there was 299 Challenger SRT8s done in Bright White, Stripe Delete with the manual transmission in 2012. On Jan-27-14 at 18:06:48 PST, seller added the following information: I detailed the Challenger today with a clay bar and got a lot of the dirt that was under the clear coat protectant off that the dealer applied. I'd say I got 90% and what's left it real difficult to see; I'm positive that's what I see (dirt under the protectant) because as I was doing it's like I was wiping off dirty water from the car. The car looks awesome!!! |

China-FCA merger could be a win-win for everyone but politicians
Tue, Aug 15 2017NEW YORK — Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne has said the car industry needs to come together, cut costs and stop incinerating capital. So far, his words have mostly fallen on deaf ears among competitors in Europe and North America. But it appears Marchionne has finally found a receptive audience — in China. FCA shares soared Monday after trade publication Automotive News reported the $18 billion Italian-American conglomerate controlled by the Agnelli family rebuffed a takeover from an unidentified carmaker from the Chinese mainland. As ugly as the politics of such a combination may appear at first blush, a transaction could stack up industrially, and perhaps even financially. A Sino-U.S.-European merger would create the first truly global auto group. That could push consolidation to the next level elsewhere. Moreover, China is the world's top market for the SUVs that Jeep effectively invented, so it might benefit FCA financially. A combo would certainly help upgrade the domestic manufacturer; Chinese carmakers have gotten better at making cars, but struggle to build global brands, and they need to develop export markets. Though frivolous overseas shopping excursions by Chinese enterprises are being reined in by Beijing, acquisitions that support the modernization and transformation of strategic industries still receive support, and the government considers the automotive industry to be strategic. A purchase of FCA by Guangzhou Automobile, Great Wall or Dongfeng Motors would probably get the same stamp of approval ChemChina was given for its $43 billion takeover of Syngenta. What's standing in the way? Apart from price (Automotive News said FCA's board deemed the offer insufficient) there's the not-insignificant matter of politics. Even as FCA shares soared, President Donald Trump interrupted his vacation to instruct the U.S. Trade Representative to look into whether to investigate China's trade policies on intellectual property. Seeing storied Detroit brands like Jeep, Chrysler, Ram and Dodge handed off to a Chinese company would provoke howls among Trump's economic-nationalist supporters. It might not play well in Italy, either, to see Alfa Romeo and Maserati answering to Wuhan instead of Turin — though Automotive News said they might be spun off separately. Yet, as Morgan Stanley observes, "cars don't ship across oceans easily," and political considerations increasingly demand local manufacture of valuable products.
The final-year Viper special editions sold out so fast Dodge is adding more
Fri, Jul 1 2016Viper collectors don't mess around. After Dodge opened ordering for its 25th anniversary 2017 Viper models – some of the last ones that will be built – all of the cars were spoken for in just five days. The company managed to sell 206 cars, an average of about 41 per day. Compare that to the 241 Vipers sold through May of this year and you can see why special editions make good business sense. Demand was so strong that Dodge will add a sixth special-edition for the Viper's last year of production. Within the group of five initial special packages, the winner was the 1:28 Edition ACR; all 28 went in 40 minutes. Dodge sold the 31 VooDoo II Edition ACRs in two hours, while 25 Snakeskin Edition GTCs and 100 GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACRs took two days to sell out. The 22 Dodge Dealer Edition ACRs took five days – apparently the dealers were too busy taking orders for the other 184 cars they didn't have time to order their own. The additional anniversary car is called the Snakeskin ACR. Dodge will build "up to" 31 of them, which we're pretty sure means exactly 31 if the previous demand is any indicator. The count matches the 2010 run of Snakeskin ACRs and will take the final-edition total to 237. We don't have any photos of that one yet, but you can get a good idea of what it will look like from the Snakeskin GTC. This one features Snakeskin Green paint, obviously, with a custom snakeskin-patterned SRT stripe, the ACR Package, the Extreme Aero Package, carbon-ceramic brakes, the ACR interior, a serialized Snakeskin badge on the instrument panel, and a custom car cover with the owner's name by the door. It will be available to order in the middle of this month, which means it will be sold out well by the end of the month. Chances are these and many of the others will go to mega-collectors like Wayne and D'Ann Rauh of Texas, who, at last count, owned 79 Vipers. Seventy-nine. Like we said, Viper collectors don't mess around. Related Video:
NHTSA is investigating FCA shifters for roll-away accidents again, this time the rotary units
Tue, Dec 20 2016It seems FCA's shifter troubles aren't over yet. Now, just a few months after issuing a recall to resolve user-related issues with its monostable shifters, the company is again under investigation by NHTSA. The issue is related to the potential for cars to roll away when the rotary-style shifter is not properly placed in park. Two FCA models are the subject of this investigation: the 2013–2016 Ram 1500 and the 2014–2016 Dodge Durango. NHTSA estimates about 1,000,000 vehicles would be affected if a recall is issued. The investigation was started following 43 complaints of vehicles rolling away while supposedly being in "park." Among the complaints were reports of 25 crashes and 9 injuries. NHTSA does point out that in every incident, the parking brake was not engaged. A representative from FCA also gave us an official statement regarding the investigation: "FCA US is cooperating fully with NHTSA's investigation, the scope of which is limited. Other vehicles equipped with rotary shifters are not included. In accordance with prudent practice, the Company joins NHTSA in urging all drivers to use their vehicles' parking brakes." View 35 Photos As mentioned above, other Chrysler products with rotary shifters, such as the Pacifica minivan and 200 sedan, are not involved in this investigation. One of the key differences, as the representative told us, is that these vehicles have electronic parking brakes that automatically engage if the driver does not select park and then opens the door with the seatbelt unbuckled. The Ram 1500 and Durango feature mechanical, manually operated parking brakes and therefore cannot activate the brake automatically. Because this is currently an investigation, an exact cause for the incidents has yet to be determined, and none of the vehicles have been recalled. It's possible there could be a mechanical defect. However, the issue could be a confusing interface causing user error, as was the case with FCA's monostable shifters, where drivers think they've put the car in park but actually haven't. Something that indicates it could be a case of confused users is that NHTSA also opened an investigation into 2012–2014 Jaguar XF and Land Rover Range Rover Evoques for similar issues. Both vehicles use a rotary shifter and have had roll-away complaints levied as well. Even if it is a case of user error, FCA and Jaguar Land Rover may still have to recall their vehicles.
