Very rare 1980 Dodge Challenger.  One owner car with only 49,346 miles!  The original owner (who's in her late 80's now) just used this little two door, as grocery getter. It's a fine example of a very low mileage, rust free, California car!  Starts right up, runs good, and goes straight as a arrow. The Power 4 wheel Disc brakes stop great, with no pulling.  Power Steering doesn't leak or make noise.  It's a very simple, economical driver, with a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi engine. Everything works, except the Cruise Control. Probably something simple, but I haven't had time to mess with. I took lots of pictures, and will try to answer all your questions. The hot California sunshine has caused a few cracks to the interior, and blemishes to exterior, here and there. All-in-all, it's pretty nice. Front seats are great, with no holes, tears and feel flexible. Rear seat bottoms (plaid part) do have a few holes, and feel a little brittle. Some of the decorative buckles on the seats are missing. Carpet and headliner are excellent. All glass is great. Windows roll up-and-down with ease. The factory black paint around window trim is starting to deteriorate. The drivers side mirror has a couple of pieces of plastic missing. Looks to be the original spare tire, complete with jack. Trunk is mint!  Body is straight, and does not appear to have any repairs. She did have it repainted back in the late 90's, only because the sunshine had faded and baked off some of the paint. She did not want to have the emblems put back on, so I only have one of the original Challenger scripts that were on the fenders and trunk lid. ( I just placed it there for the photo). Has current registration and tags. Have the clear California Title.  I work full time, so will only be checking emails in the evening, Pacific Time. There are a couple of You-tube video's playing the 70-80's Dodge commercials of these cars.  Found more info on the engine and specs in the eBay parts and accessories literature.  Seems that this car was way ahead of it's time when built. Has a Hemi head 4 cylinder that does not use a smog pump!  As a car enthusiast, and owner of various 60-70's Mopars over the years, I have tried to describe this car to the best of my knowledge. Car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end auction at any time.  Also, check out the only other one that I could find. It's at Hawaii Craigslist!

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has 707 glorious horsepower [w/video]

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

Hold onto your butts. "600-plus horsepower" is what we were told to expect from the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine. But as we've just learned, those were incredibly conservative numbers. Dodge has officially announced that the range-topping Challenger will hit the asphalt with 707 - seven hundred and seven - horsepower, making it the "most powerful muscle car ever."
Of course, 707 hp is only part of the story, as the Hellcat has also been confirmed to produce 650 pound-feet of torque. All that power will run exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that differs from other Challengers. The new gearbox, 8HP90 (rather than the 8HP70) is "upgraded to handle the extra power and torque," says Dan Reid, SRT's manager of product design and motorsports.
We certainly hope you're prepared to spend a ton of money replacing tires.

Fiat Chrysler posts record Q3 profit thanks to U.S. trucks and Jeep

Wed, Oct 28 2020

MILAN — A rebound in car production in Fiat Chrysler on Wednesday reported record third-quarter earnings as production returned to nearly pre-pandemic levels. The Italian-American automaker, which is finalizing its full merger with French rival PSA Peugeot, reported a net profit in the three months ending Sept. 30 of $1.4 billion (1.2 billion euros). That compares with a loss of 179 million euros a year earlier. The carmaker reported adjusted earnings before tax and interest in North America of 2.5 billion euros. That offset deepening losses in Europe, Asia and at its Maserati luxury marquee. Latin America, the only other region to post a profit, saw it narrow by two-thirds to 46 million euros. “Our record results were driven by our teamÂ’s tremendous performance in North America,” CEO Mike Manley said in a statement. Overall, the carmaker said global earnings before tax and interest were a record 2.3 billion euros despite a 6% fall in revenues to 26 billion euros. Global shipments were down 3%, due largely to plant retooling in North American to produce the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the luxury SUV segment and the discontinuation of the Dodge Grand Caravan classic minivan. Fiat Chrysler announced earlier Wednesday that its merger with PSA Peugeot is on track to be finalized by the end of the first quarter of 2021, as planned. To meet regulatory concerns, the French carmaker is selling a small stake in a components maker to get below 40% ownership. The new automaker, to be called Stellantis, will be the fourth biggest producer in the world. Earnings/Financials Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM Citroen Peugeot

Tesla Model S P85D shows 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat how to drag race

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Street Car Drags hosted a bang-up event at the Palm Beach International Raceway last weekend, with a list of massive horsepower ICE cars going up against one another and a trio of Tesla Model S P85Ds. One of those duels pitted the 691-horsepower Tesla against a 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and the result was an old-school beatdown and a world record for electric cars. The Model S P85D ran the quarter in 11.6 seconds at 114.6 miles per hour, the new mark for BEVs at the drag strip. Proving its pace, it ran three more times in 11.69, 11.72 and 11.76 seconds. It got from the start line to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds. The Hellcat, well, it wasn't a race, really. It was the Hellcat's driver's first time at a drag strip and his first time trying to launch it, so after an excellent burnout ahead of the lights, he rolled to the line, almost jumped the start, balked at the real start and spun his tires for the first 100 feet down the strip. The theory is that he overheated his street tires during that burnout, and the resulting greasy rubber did what greasy rubber does. By the time he got to the other end 17.46 seconds later the Tesla driver had showered and was enjoying a funnel cake. When things go right, though, Dodge estimates the Hellcat will do 11.2-second runs on street tires and it has been clocked at 10.85 seconds at 126.18 mph on street-legal drag radials. There's video of the not-quite-a-race above, and Drag Times says there'll be a rematch between the two in a couple of weeks.
