1971 Dodge Challenger 340 Conv ****
If you are
looking for great running and driving Mopar E-Body drop-top I challenge you to
find a better example under $40k. This was
born and raised H-code 340 Dodge Challenger convertible and it has GREAT documentation –
check out the details below!
This is one of the most optioned out E-body rag-tops ever built according to
Galen. Options include Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, T/A
Challenger quick ratio steering box, AM-FM, Cassette Player- Recorder,
Power Windows, Power Top, Buckets, Console, very rare Chrome package,
Luggage Rack, etc. 20 years ago, during the restoration the previous owner
added the Go-Wing, a Tuff Wheel, and the Side Rallye Scoops. PAINT, BODY, FRAME &
SUSPENSION The car was restored
about 20 years ago and still presents itself pretty well. The technology of the
time was not what it is today. The rear quarters have been replaced, the trunk
drops were not available then so they remain original and in need of repair.
The typical E-Body Dutchman panel cracking is evident but not too bad. The
rockers where the quarters were welded could’ve been done better. There is a
spot on the driver’s door where the paint is cracked probably due to either bad
prep or filler. There is a patch in the trunk floor; there is rust in one of
the wheel houses and a small hole in the front frame rail on the passenger
side. All these issues have been like this since the car was purchased by the
current owner (15 years ago). The car looks, runs, drives, and handles
wonderfully and will bring the next owner many years of enjoyment. The suspension is all
good and functions as new and entire braking system is 100%, very solid, tight,
and the quick ratio steering makes the highway on ramps very fun! GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The glass looks to be
original glass maybe with the exception of the windshield, all power windows
operate well and line-up perfectly. The front and rear bumpers are in very
good condition. The stainless trim is in great shape, the headlight
bezels, grille, emblems, and mirrors are all amazing. All lighting works; the
high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn
signals, four-way flashers, glove light, trunk light, and the license plate
light. The top is in GREAT shape and looks new, glass rear window – the power
top operates very well, no issues there. The “parade boot” fits nicely and is
in good shape. The car has the jack assembly and space save spare with fill
canister.
INTERIOR The white vinyl interior
is 100% complete and in wonderful condition, mostly new from what I can see. The
seats have been recovered and new seat foams ensure your correct view over the
dashboard. The console and glove compartment doors operate well; the seat belts
all work, the dash lights are bright; all the gauges report in correctly, the AM-FM
radio and speakers all work great, the playing speed on the cassette seems a
bit slow, the wipers, horn, etc. all work well. The HVAC controls work on all
fan settings and blows hot, and the AC runs nice and cool. All factory gauges
work and operate correctly – these Rallye Gauge Clusters are great looking in
these cars.
DRIVE TRAIN The NOM 1970 340 has excellent
power and runs extremely smooth and is very easy to drive. The motor does
not smoke, tick or make any noises… again it runs great with no issues, it was
rebuilt to stock specs during the resto. The transmission is NOT the
original 727 transmission. It shifts excellent through the gears and is an
absolute blast to drive! If you get a little aggressive she’ll reward you
with a nice, firm, “chirp” in between the gears… The car stays cool even in
stop and go traffic. The 8-3/4” SureGrip rear-end is running a set of 3:55
gears and yes, being a SureGrip; it’s an “Posi” rear. Documents include TWO Fender tags, the ORIGINAL broadcast sheet (buildsheet), original sales brochure.

We're pretty sure the Challenger SRT Demon won't have 1,121 horsepower, but what if?
Fri, Feb 3 2017Dodge's slow rollout of the upcoming Demon continues, and with it comes endless speculation about what it all means. Every video, every image, and every press release contains some clue that points towards the Demon's final specs. We don't think any of it is random or arbitrary. This week cryptic image, a small plate with a name and two numbers, shows us a little more than last week's license plate. Unfortunately, Dodge will neither confirm or deny anything, meaning we have no way of knowing which rabbit hole to go down. Don't expect to see official horsepower, a quarter-mile time, or an MSRP until the New York Auto Show. The plate is attached to the crate of goodies that comes along with every Dodge Demon. This particular one is labeled with three things: Tom Coddington, serial number 0757, and VIN 001121. The name is simple enough. According to Hot Rod, Coddington was one of the original Ramchargers, a group of engineers in the early 1960s that helped Dodge get involved in drag racing. He was a fuel system specialist, motor consultant, and a rotating garage manager. All of that could be clues. While a name is easy enough to Google, the two numbers can't be broken down so easily. The crazier theory is that the car makes 1,121 horsepower and will do the quarter-mile in 7.57 seconds. Frankly, those numbers are about as likely as the Demon actually being powered by a Rolls-Royce turbofan engine from a Boeing 757 or packing a carburetor with 1,121 CFM. The Demon is going to be street legal, and the costs associated with making a 1,121-hp car meet emissions standards alone are assuredly astronomical. As our friends from Road & Track pointed out, the more likely theory is that 757 is actually the horsepower rating. This seems totally plausible, but it means we still don't know what 1,121 means. Surely it's not a drag strip time, as the standard Hellcat will do 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds. Like before, if you have any ideas, post them in the comments. Until April, we'll keep trying to solve Dodge's demonic puzzle. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Chrysler minivans under investigation for stalling after fuel refill
Wed, 10 Sep 2014According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least one man has reported that his 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled unexpectedly on the highway shortly after being refueled. The unidentified man who contacted NHTSA regarding the issue cited as many as eight similar instances reported by other drivers.
NHTSA has announced that it will launch an inquiry into this issue, which could affect as many as 160,000 minivans from Dodge and Chrysler that were sold in 2007 (or more, if a problem is found that extends to additional models years, we'd assume). As of yet, there's no formal investigation, let alone a recall, on these vans, as the agency is merely determining if further action is needed.
Two months ago, Chrysler recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles, the majority of which were minivans, from the 2008-2010 model years to replace ignition switches after an investigation found that their weak springs and detent positions could fool a driver into thinking the car was in the "Run" position, when it's actually in the "Accessory" position.
Who are Mike Manley, Louis Camilleri, and Suzanne Heywood?
Sun, Jul 22 2018MILAN – Fiat Chrysler aid on Saturday that boss Sergio Marchionne, 66, would not be returning to work because he was gravely ill. In addition to being FCA chief executive, Marchionne was also CEO and chairman of luxury sports car brand Ferrari and chairman of truck and tractor maker CNH Industrial, which were spun off from FCA in recent years. Following is a brief summary on the executives who have been appointed to replace him in the various roles: MIKE MANLEY The 54-year-old Briton picked to become the FCA's new CEO has been leading the group's top brand Jeep since 2009, first as Jeep President and CEO at Chrysler and then as FCA's Jeep head. In 2015 he was also appointed head of the Ram brand. Under his tenure, Jeep turned into a global brand becoming, together with Ram, FCA's profit engine. Jeep sold nearly 1.4 million cars last year compared with less than 338,000 in 2009. Manley had worked as DaimlerChrysler's head of network development in Britain since 2000, having earlier worked for several years in car dealership. At Chrysler, he headed product planning and all sales activities outside of North America and then became the group's chief operating officer for Asia and the lead executive for the international activities outside of NAFTA. LOUIS CAMILLERI The new Ferrari CEO was already a board member at the luxury sportscar maker before his latest appointment. He is also the chairman of Philip Morris International, where he also held the job of CEO from 2008 to 2013. Born in 1955, Camilleri had joined Altria Group, which controls Philip Morris, in 1978 holding various positions until he became chief financial officer in 1996 and then CEO in 2002. Camilleri was also chairman of Kraft Foods from 2002 to 2007. Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat wished Camilleri luck on Twitter saying he was proud to have "a bit of Malta in Ferrari" thanks to the new CEO, who was born in Egypt to Maltese parents. SUZANNE HEYWOOD The new, British-born chairwoman of CNH Industrial has been since 2016 the managing director of EXOR, the holding company through which the Agnelli family controls FCA. Heywood, 49, started her career at the British Treasury and then joined McKinsey in 1997, leading for many years the consultancy firm's global service line on organization design. She eventually became a senior partner there. Heywood sits on the board of The Economist, which is controlled by EXOR, and the board of the Royal Opera House, where she is also deputy chair.
