This auction is for one 1970 Dodge Challenger incomplete project car. It is a real A66 340 performance package car with its original engine, 727 transmission, radiator, complete dash assembly, steering column with keys & heater box. It still has its original fender tag which is rusty but readable from the backside and its build sheet that's in very nice condition. As seen in the pictures it is a rolling chassis that has rust issues from front to back and top to bottom. It doesn't retain its original rear axle assembly but it does have an E-body 8 & 3/4" out of another car with an open center section. It is an original 4 wheel drum brake car but I have installed an original 1970 E-body front disc brake assembly that includes spindles, two piece rotors and calipers. The engine is disassembled but complete except for exhaust manifolds and air cleaner. I had the block hot tanked and magnafluxed to verify that it is a good rebuildable core and that it is.
It is an original FK5 Burnt Orange car inside and out with a black top and tail stripe. Most of The interior is missing but it was a console shifted automatic car. The doors are original to the car and are in useable condition with minimal rust but one is damaged as shown in the pics. Unfortunately somebody cut out the top yoke of the radiator core support that had the body numbers stamped on it but I'll include a nice whole core support that was removed from another vehicle. It still retains the body numbers that are stamped on the cowl, the vin tag on the dash and the door vin decal on the driver's side door. The trunk lid on it is rust-free and comes with the early, non-crumple zone Rallye hood shown in the pics and is also rust-free. Also included is a nice front bumper with brackets but no grille, headlight bezels or fenders.
I originally intended to restore this car myself but that is no longer my plan as I have too many other projects and nowhere near enough time to do them all. I have a lot of parts that I have picked up over the years for this car that are NOT included in this auction but will be available for sale to the high bidder so if you don't see it in the pics or listed in the description, it's not included in this auction.
I have registered this car with Galen Govier and those documents are included in this auction. It is 1 of 3,771 340 single four barrel automatics built in 1970.
This would be one very nice Mopar when restored and with all of the original equipment and documentation I think it deserves to be saved.
I am open to shipping this car anywhere in the world but I am not responsible for making any of those arrangements and shipping is not included in this auction. All of the parts that are included would fit inside the car except the hood which would have to be strapped to the front of the car which I will do for the new owner if not a local pick up.
The car is located in the Detroit area.
A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours through Pay Pal and the balance to be paid in cash if you're going to pick it up within 7 days or by certified funds or bank wire transfer within 7 days of the end of the auction. I will not release the car until it is paid in full and all funds have cleared.
The reserve is pretty low in my opinion and I will not reveal the reserve unless you have made a bid.
Please feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.

Chrysler recalls AWD 300, Charger, Ram 1500 over ZF transmission

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

What do the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Ram 1500 all have in common? Yes, they're all Chrysler products, and two of them are based on the same platform. And we're sure you could find more similarities between them all, but the common trait we're looking at here is that, while they all come standard in rear-drive form, they're also available with all-wheel drive. And it's the transmission in those models that's the subject of the latest recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The output shaft on the eight-speed automatic transmission supplied by ZF to Chrysler for the AWD versions of the 300, Charger and Ram 1500 is apparently prone to fracture. That in the end could leave the vehicle without power and could, according to the NHTSA investigation, increase the chance of a crash. The vehicle could also roll away if even if left in Park without the handbrake applied.
That's why Chrysler is calling in 4,194 examples of those three models from the 2013 model year. Dealers will be responsible for inspecting the transmissions and, where necessary, replace the entire unit. See the full recall notice below for all the details.

Next Dodge Challenger to be electrified, says FCA boss

Mon, Jan 21 2019

Dodge is the last of Detroit's Big Three to truly keep the muscle car purpose and heritage alive with the Challenger and Charger. As the Mustang and Camaro have transitioned to sports car-like experiences, the high-horsepower Dodges have stuck to their guns as straight-line behemoths with little intention of competing with the others in corner carving. People still dig the old-school-cool of cars like the Challenger, as sales actually went up while Mustang and Camaro sales took a hit in 2018. That said, new FCA boss Mike Manley said things will be changing in an electric way for the next generation, in a report by The Detroit News. "The reality is those platforms and that technology we used does need to move on. They can't exist as you get into the middle-2020s. New technology is going to drive a load of weight out, so we can think of the powertrains in a different way. And we can use electrification to really supplement those vehicles." News of electrified muscle cars is nothing new at this point. Ford says it's going to reveal a Mustang Hybrid in 2020. And with Al Oppenheiser (former chief engineer for the Camaro) moving to GM's electric division, you better believe Chevrolet is working on an electrified version of the Camaro. This, however, is the first solid evidence we have that FCA and Dodge are making such a move. What Manley said next is something we all know to be true, but a bit heartbreaking nonetheless. "I think that electrification will certainly be part of the formula that says what is American muscle in the future. What it isn't going to be is a V8, supercharged, 700-horsepower engine," Manley says. Even if it's a bit silly, we all love the Hellcat for its 707 horsepower V8. Clearly, plenty of other people do, too, because Dodge keeps cranking out more insane versions of the car with the Redeye and Demon. As for how much electrification Dodge's muscle car will receive, Manley wouldn't go into detail. Though he does say that electrification "can't be the dominant part." This should provide some solace to all those worried the gasoline engine could disappear from the American muscle car. Just as Dodge is reluctant to stray from the original intent of the muscle car, it's not hard to imagine the Challenger/Charger being the last to go full-electric. Gas engines supplemented by 48-volt systems or plug-in hybrids will most likely be the end result when we first see electrified Challengers.

Junkyard Gem: 1978 Dodge Tradesman Custom Van

Fri, Nov 4 2016

The custom-van craze was huge in California, back in the 1970s, and plenty of folks who would never have considered getting zonked on Acapulco Gold while listening to Elephant's Memory ended up buying Econolines and Beauvilles and Tradesmen with shag carpeting, bubble windows, and wild graphics. In fact, van buyers could get that stuff right from the factory. Most of those vans are gone now, but I found this used-up '78 Dodge in a self-service wrecking yard in California's Central Valley. Owners of custom vans felt strongly about their rides back in the Malaise Era. This one has the look of a vehicle that was used for beer-and-burned-meat-heavy tailgate parties at Oakland Raiders games. Such service is rough on a van. Try to picture this interior when it was new and plush, not the way it looks now. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
