Datsun 240z Coupe on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
This is a true barn find. this is a 1970 Datsun 240z being sold as part of a Estate sale. this car was found on a Idaho farm last year when the Orginal Owner passed. I bought this car to Florida to restore. I recently found out that I will be transferred to Seattle Washington, as of such I cannot take this car with me. For Z collectors this is the car to have. Its an early year model as evidence by its vin number. As of such it has some unique features that are 70's year only options.
1. the steering wheel is the correct one year only option. 2.The side "Z" badges unique to the 1970's Datsun are both present and in good shape as evidenced by the pictures. 3.The Engine appears to be the Original Engine with 53,000 miles on it and also the correct 2400 stamped one year valve cover ( see pictures) 4. the original am radio is still in the car unmolested 5.The only year only dash and center piece produced just for the 1970 Datsun is still in place, though the dash it self is badly cracked. center piece in good condition. 6.this car has the rare Aqua interior though it needs work only 300.00 came with this interior. 7.the original color of the exterior was Blue ( color code 903) 8.The Hood is a Super Rare racing Hood (note louvers) a Dealer option installed on the 1970 yr only after 70 became a after market option ( see Pictures) 9.This car has the 5 speed Manuel Transmission 10.This car is in running condition I drove it 110 miles without problems 11. does still have the Fiberglass light housings unique to the 1970 Z. Then from 1971 to 1973 they were converted to steel. Now for its needs: 1,Will need total restoration to make it a 15,000 Dollar car 2. as stated the car runs but will need brake pads and drums 3.has typical rust in various areas: right fender, Left door Jab ( right under it) areas along the front but no rust through areas noted. There is a rust hole in the floor pan where the rubber plugs go but I think its the plug area that has widened over the years. there are no rust issues noted in battery area and frame rails. ( and that's a good thing!) 4 interior pieces are mostly there including door panels. 5.tires are good maybe have still 15,00 miles on them Car is over all very Solid for a 1970 first year car. car will obviously need paint current paint job was very amateurish can see original paint in many different areas. I have tried to describe the car as to the best of my ability. as I know the value of the car if restored if any questions please do not hesitate to contact me 4074842709c |

Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]
Wed, 18 Sep 2013The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.
Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
Fiat contemplating sub-brand to compete with Dacia, Datsun
Tue, 05 Feb 2013You can add Fiat to the admittedly short list of automakers considering a low-cost brand to rival Dacia. The inexpensive Eastern European brand from Renault-Nissan has performed on the balance sheet like a premium model line, and the money the alliance is taking off the table is encouraging other players to deal themselves in. Pretty soon Nissan's Datsun sub-brand will join the Dacia party, going on sale in Russia, Indonesia and India and will claim even more rubles, rupiahs and rupees for the parent company. Volkswagen recently said it will make a decision this year on a budget line for the Chinese market. With the euthanasia of Lancia and plans to move the Fiat brand upmarket, company CEO Sergio Marchionne wonders aloud to Automotive News Europe whether there could be room for a new budget brand underneath Fiat.
We're told that the initiative has been in the idea box for five years and even moved to the stage of name considerations, like Innocenti, but worries about profit kept it from realization. If such a range were to be developed, Marchionne says it couldn't be built in Italy and stay within budget, and the company is "analyzing its manufacturing capacity outside of Europe to see if a low-cost brand is viable."
