1978 DATSUN 280Z
PEARL BLACK SPECIAL EDITION

This is a TRUE 1978 280Z Pearl Black Special Edition. [Paint Code 638]. One of the rarest of the early Z's. Only between 850 and 1200 of these cars were made. This is an Automatic making it even more rare. With the KY title reading 70,138 and The odometer reading a little over 71,000; it should be considered a collectors car. Not perfect and not a show car  yet, but with a little more work she would be.

WATCH THIS VIDEO OF MY CAR AND THERE ARE OVER 80 PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS ADD VIA PHOTO BUCKET.

Body:

-No accident damage anywhere, .

-Body seams are good.

-Car has been painted three times. It was silver when I purchased it. Sanded and returned to original Pearl Black. The paint work is mediocre, 6.5 out of 10. No dirt or fisheyes in the paint. But the shop left scratch marks in the primer on the top. Left some small dings, and has some dry spray along bottom. There is one “heat blister” on the top about the size of a penny. Tried to photo these but they are very hard to capture. Even with these imperfections the car remains beautiful and receives compliments virtually every time I drive her.

-All trim items are good.

-All glass is nice, new rubber seals around doors and windshield and hatch .

-Original bumpers replaced with MSA Type 2 air dam with bumper trim. Rear shaved. Looks very nice.

 Mechanical:

-Car drives good. Holds the road good. No bad habits. Tires could be re-balanced.

- The R/T racing Differential mount KYB Struts and polyurethane bushings take away the light toss-able feel in the rear. You can really drive this car fast and confidently with very little effort.

-Power brakes work great.

-Engine starts on the first crank. Idles quietly at 850rpm, and runs very strong, revs smoothly to redline. Has a small exhaust leak you can hear when cold, but diminishes when warmer.

- Automatic shifts smoothly.

- 15x8 XXR Black Chromium Racing Wheels, with New Kumho 225/50 Tires.

-Dash gauges all work fine.

-All lights exterior and interior work fine.

-Came with Factory AC, but compressor failed and was removed by previous owner. All the other pieces appear to be there.

-Horn does not work.

INTERIOR:

-Interior is mostly original and in good condition.

-New Seats and Carpet. Seats are from England with Embroided Z emblem and white stitch

-Dash looks good. Has been resurfaced in the past, and has developed some small cracks. The car is currently Garage kept

-Headliner is great.

-Original retractable seat/shoulder belts in good shape.

- Pyle Classic Radio, looks close to original. Has usb and sd card slot. The power antenna works fine.

-Blower and heater work fine.

- Comes with Warranty card and Owners manual. Clear Kentucky Title reading 70,000 miles

-Original Z spare in trunk, has original tools and jack in bin behind seat.

-Comes with KY Tags, and 2 keys.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE UPGRADES:

Suspension is completely overhauled with New KYB struts and polyurethane bushings.

Rear polyurethane differential bushings, and a R/T Racing differential mount.

The Car has been lowered, and sits on 15x8 XXR racing wheels, and 225/50 Kuhmo tires.

New Rack and Pinion, New tie rods, ball joints, torque bushings,...etc.
Handles like it is on rails.

Brakes have been upgraded to 4 piston calibers, 15/16 Master Cylinder, and larger brake booster. STOPS perfectly, braking is far better than factory.

Engine has racing header, 2.5" performance exhaust and cold air intake. The starter, alternator, air regulator, oil pressure switch, and fuel pump have all recently been replaced.

Fuel Injection wiring harness rebuilt with new ends, and the engine has just recently received a complete tune up.

FLOOR BOARDS, FRAME RAILS LOOK GOOD.
BATTERY AREA LOOKS GOOD. SOLID CAR.

Don't bring a trailer! Drive her home and enjoy the trip!

Datsun Redi-Go is reborn brand's first concept car [w/video]

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

Nissan's plan for its reborn Datsun sub-brand just got a shot in the arm, as the emerging-market manufacturer has unveiled its first concept car since its resurrection back in 2012. Called the Redi-Go Concept, it looks like a high-riding version of Datsun's recently launched Go hatchback that's been fitted with a few concept car cues (not a bad thing).
The Redi-Go packs LED taillights, Datsun's "D-cut grille" and LED running lights into its Go-inspired body. Funky two-tone 15-inch wheels add a bit of cheek to the overall design, and in our minds look quite good, despite being so small. The ruggedized front and rear bumpers, as well as the sill and wheel arch surrounds add to the Redi-Go's rough-and-tumble aesthetic. We like that Datsun has kept the overall package short, giving the Redi-Go a 92.5-inch wheelbase, rather than creating a lifted version of the upcoming Go+. There are no specific mentions of the Redi-Go's mechanicals, although we'd wager that a production model might share the 1.2-liter engine and five-speed manual found in the standard Go.
While it might be easy to dismiss a concept like the Redi-Go in America, there's no denying its importance to the Indian market, which is decidedly more limited when it comes to available bodystyles. "If we were to make a car like Datsun Redi-Go Concept it would be a segment creator in India, an aspirational car that at the same time is attainable, a car that would be within reach of the first time buyer. This concept shows how serious we are about reinvigorating the market by catering for the needs of a growing class of Indians who have the chance to own a family car that will enable them to enjoy a new sense of independence," said Vincent Cobee, the global head of Datsun.

Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
