1974 Datsun 260 Z "Blank Canvas" I have been working on this car for over a year now. The car is KS titled as an Antique, runs and drives. The car was from Arizona so it had minimal body pan rust that the previous owner cut out and replaced. Not a great job but decent. The motor runs well with good oil pressure and has Factory A/C. I have replaced both the electric and mechanical fuel pumps. The tank was drained and flushed but I put some inexpensive visible filters in line to check for additional dirt. What the car really needs is a few tanks of gas run through it. The clutch master and master cylinder are new. I went through the brakes replacing and upgrading pads, rotors, brake hardware kit and wheel cylinder rebuilds. It has stainless steel lines as well. I replaced all the bushings with urethane and replaced all suspension parts as needed. ( If you have ever attempted this you know how hard the rear A-frames are to do!) I then installed a coil over kit to lower and stiffen the car. It has new KYB struts in back but I recommend replacing all four struts with Koni's or Bilsteins as this car rides hard and rebounds fast. ( With these coil overs this car would be a great candidate for a small block Chevy! they can easily take the extra weight) I replaced all six U joints and fluids in both the transmission and differential  and welded a muffler on as a temporary solution. I bought and installed a Stage 2 body kit. I also have a 280 Grill and lights that go with the car if you choose to go that way. The seats have been reupholstered and new rugs installed. the original interior color was brown but I used fabric paint on the parts that were not replaced in black ( Like the door panels) The dash has a cap. The roof has some hail damage and I am including a sunroof I purchased on line. Unlike most of these on the web this car " has not run in 10 years but ran when I put it away" or "has been in a barn just waiting to be restored" This car runs and drives although the tires should be replaced before driving anywhere. This car will drive into or onto any trailer you bring. That being said, I learned a valuable lesson about using a tow dolly The lowered front spoiler did not like that and got damaged as well as wrinkling both front fenders which I have replaced. I am not a body man and have come to the conclusion that winter is coming and I have 4 cars and a three car garage, Not going to work. That being said I have more that twice the reserve into this car but if it doesn't go I'll store it for the winter and start next year. If you buy this car you are going to save yourself hours of hard labor. The car is being sold locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you have less than perfect feedback or under 50 Ebay transactions contact me before bidding or your bid will be rejected. I had my first 240 Z when I was 16. They are great cars but if you need your parents permission to buy please don't bid. Thanks for looking and good luck!

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.

Datsun to unveil second model later this month

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Datsun, Nissan's new sub-brand for emerging markets, has announced plans to unveil its second model. Its first, the Go, was unveiled almost two months ago, and promised affordable, connected motoring for five in a handsome hatchback body. Datsun is following that up with a pair of new models for Indonesia.
The first of these two new vehicles will be shown on September 17 in Jakarta, eschewing the typical auto show debut. It's targeted at so-called "risers," the nickname for a group of highly aspirational customers in the Indonesian market. Datsun developed it locally with help from Nissan, and it'll cost under 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about $8,900 at today's rates).
We'll have the full boatload of information on the newest member of the Datsun family when it debuts on September 17. Scroll on to read the full press release from Datsun.

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
